This kata is rather short... actually very short. So compact. Anybody can explain the key principles behind the techniques in this kata? Since it was created specifically for the purpose of teaching self-defense techniques to women, it's kinda hard to identify the main advantage or the principles that emphasize self-defense techniques to women just by watching the kata. Can somebody enlighten us in this? I'm really curious about this. Thx.
i train a litle bit of every style but it's more shito ryu.But that's srange because this saturday i'm going to have an exam to brown belt(3rd kyu i think)and really have to know this kata so this kata it's not just an extra in our programe.we really have to know it.
Then you are obviously not Ryobu-Kai. We do not have Ryobu-Kai in Portugal. The video is how it is done in Ryobu-Kai. It's interesting that you also do Seiryu. What style/organization to you train with?
Interesting. I've been in Ryobu-Kai for about 8 years and I don't remember ever seeing this kata before. I like it, though, and it doesn't look too difficult.
My Sensei is Kiyoshi Yamazaki. I started with him in 1972. I first learned Tai Sabaki Shodan from the first Generation Konishi Sensei in 1973. I also have photos of him doing Seiryu.
Osu. well done...

I've been down to your tournament before. I've never had a chance to train with Yamazaki Sensei, unfortunately.

Are you going to the Konishi Cup this year?

Seiryu or Aoyagi, I don't know why onother karate style have to change some part of the original kata.
Why?
varva79 4 years ago
Who said that the original was changed? Mabuni and Konishi created this together. Aoyagi is Mabuni's version and Seiryu is Konishi's version.
