Completely Agree about Lara Fabian comments! Although Lara is naturally Italian her performance of this song is like no other! To prove you don't have to be born with the language to pronounce it right Lara's rendition of 'Je suis Malade' is also second to non and obviously it's French (by title) she reaches out with her soul in this one. Every song she sings she clearly sends the message 'FEEL IT'! it's all about 'feeling' the meaning of the song!

I think that Lara's version is better, but Lara is half Italian, so this song is a bit easier for her with respect to Céline. If you talk a language everyday (Lara talks Italian much better than a lot of Italians, too), it's more immediate to sing in that language.

We could argue but there's no use ;) I guess Celine chose a different way of interpreting this song. I'm not Italian but I also understand the lyrics + speak some Italian, and I know Lara is half-blood Italian (isn't she?) and well... it's true that it's hard to find such an expressive signer. Whether it's Caruso, Je Suis Malade or Sola Otra Vez - she never fails to touch my soul and make me cry, especially when I sing along.
