no common take a much longer rope and tie it to a car or a big tree, then go out and balance your glider in strong winds. make sure that the rope is stretched!! oh just remember before doing this make sure you have told the public who is getting what when you die you don´t want them fighting for your old stuff when gone!

Or the fact that the person with the video camera just keeps shooting, instead of helping him collapse his wing while he gets dragged around without a helmet. This is full ignorance at it's best. Maybe he found out he had a terminal disease and wanted to kill himself and have some footage of it to show the insurance company.
It's so easy for those of us who are trained pilots to ridicule the behavior of others. Get off your high horse and try to remember the first time you dreamed of flight. Many of us looked to the skies and sought out a local school. For a million different reasons, not everybody does it this way. This person dreams of flight and I hope he achieves it...safely. But that "natural selection" comment is just BS. If you haven't known a skilled, trained pilot who died paragliding, you're too new.
