  • I believe the freight was en route to one of the plants along Bath Road (HWY 33)

  • Do the Canadian Via Rail trains have names like the US trains?

  • @nashgallo Long distance trains do, but not the intercity trains on the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor.

  • @haaaru they used to tho. There was the York, LaSalle, Rideau, Meridien, Metropolis, Bonaventure, Champlain... to name a few on the corridor. In the old printed timetables, they were named just as the Canadian and the Ocean and the Skeena. It was cool.

  • @haaaru they used to tho. There was the York, LaSalle, Rideau, Meridien, Metropolis, Bonaventure, Champlain... to name a few on the corridor. In the old printed timetables, they were almost all named just as the Canadian and the Ocean and the Skeena. It was cool.

  • @jamie514 I remember that! Le Frontenac!!

  • @haaru Dont they now?? I used to be a BIG Via Rail traveller [did Québec-Vancouver 12 times] and I remember they used to have names for different trains between QC and MTL, one of them was called the Frontenac notably. I'd have to check on old timetables from like 1995 but they used to have names definitely.

  • @haaaru I took the Canadian 12 times as I said [including one time with my cat], and the Océan/Chaleur used to go right by my house every night [that was until the closed the Lévis station in 1998 and took out the rails... sad day]. I'd love to try the one that goes to Prince George and Prince Rupert one day, I believe it's called the Skeena....

  • well... that frieght was slightly overpowered :D

  • A hearty thumbs up to you Canadians for taking such good care of your Heritage Budd cars! Would be great if Amtrak and congress would listen to your maintenance managers! So far The Amfleet and Horizon fleet cars have yet to offer the comfortable ride and spaciousness of the classic Budd cars.

  • Great video! The short freight is local CN 518. It was headed for the Cataraqui Spur but at that speed, It may have been heading for the switch at Ernestown for the north track into Belleville.

  • did it happens often ?

  • probably only the other way around where a passenger train overtakes a freight on the Kingston Sub where it's double track

  • okay, that was awesome! thanks!

  • Great shot of the VIA engineers!

  • This video is awesome. Where these trains are headed for ?

    Happy Canada day to you.

  • Thank you. The 57 is heading to Toronto, but I don't have a clue where the destination of that freight train is.

  • The freight train will be stopping just on the other side of of Gardiner It will then back onto the siding leading to the Invista (Dupont ) plant on the waterfront. I have watched it do that many times
