I do love how otherworldly and surreal Mordor appears in these cartoons. Though I'd have to say Jacksons version was better, I would have really loved to see the end of these up to the Return of the King.
Frodo would be a midget ring wraith lol. You could just see Gandalf trembling," He is the witch king of Bag End! The strongest ring wraith!" bhahahaha
I think the quality of the cartoon is messing with my vision of the characters. When I read thebooks (and I did so b4 i saw the jackson movies) I always thought that the hobbit's higth would be more like Jackson's movie. tallest to lowest: Pippin, Frodo, Merry, Sam. But in the cartoon, frodo is the biggest one and peppin and merry are.... tiny. And i don't really get all the facial expressions i have seen so far. its all just to absurd for me. But im totaly watchign the rest of the episodes! :)
Though this version made a lot of mistakes...the black riders here are infinitely superior and more book-accurate than Jackson's Fellowship, where they get their asses kicked at every turn, like Power Rangers villains.
These things are supposed to be second only to Sauron himself...they're supposed to have an aura of fear, a "you're fucked" presence that none of the characters is immune to. Bakshi pwned the new movies here, at least.
@Eldeecue no way i loled so bad the first time i watched this again and the riders looked like old men with limps. jaksons at least could run :P. I think the books versions were much more scary.
loTR film is not quaity is very harsh considering the massive workload he undertook creating the 3 movies at once to keep costs to a minimum ($280 million minimum, lol) obviously. Your never going to see that type of film epic scale ever again. Ever or a long long time. S give credit where credit's due.
Peter Jackson's LOTR is to the real LOTR as a french fry is to a healthy vegetable. They're delicious, appeal to modern audiences, and are remniscent of potatoes but all the actual quality has been stripped from them.
I was just looking at the wiki for the Nazgûl because of this movie and it says there's a rarely used work Úlairi that is the plural for Nazgûl. Just a bit of useless info, haha.
The term Úlairi (in plural form) is actually Quenya, with a cognate in Sindarin, Ulaer. The meaning of Úlairi is unknown, and many possibilities have been suggested for its meaning.
In context, Nazgûl (from Black Speech Nazg-gûl "Ring-wraith") seems to be both used as a singular and plural term.
Minus the over long delay before the stupid horse started running (noro lim, already Asfaloth) this version of the flight to the Frod was better than Jacksons, although it wouldn't have been Difficult to have made Legolas Glorfindel instead, he was far better than Arwen.
Frodo is chased by the Black Riders to the Ford. It was a F-150, but sadly, petrol was hard to find in Mordor.

i wonder what frodo would look like if he became a black rider he would be small and he would ride a pony lol
quagmire889 1 year ago
I like this chase better...Frodo's not as much of a ninny. He actually attempts to make a last stand.

The Ring Wraith animation stinks.

i love the voice from the nazgul when he says ''come back, to Mordor we will take you''

this film used both real human turns animated and the cartoon version that's why the nazgul is like real.

@RecycleElf You do realize that Frodo's 50 years older than them.

Probably the slowest chase scene ever captured on film.
balrog13571 2 years ago 5
Besides the one chase scene in The Matrix Reloaded or the other one in Star Wars: Episode 2?

while i appreciate the fact that this is more to the book, i still think pj's is a bit better done.
LadyLuria 3 years ago 2
That's obvious. Bakshi only had a tiny budget to work with, compared to PJ's.

To borrow a few words from Lewis Black: Peter Jackson is to LOTR as KFC is to chicken.
Fedaykin4321 3 years ago
whatever
a more accurate analogy would be:
Peter Jackson's LOTR is to the real LOTR as a french fry is to a healthy vegetable. They're delicious, appeal to modern audiences, and are remniscent of potatoes but all the actual quality has been stripped from them.

emergencyCALL911 has right! It would be better if Frodo fought with nazguls,it must be more heroic I think, and this is the book-version too!!
Nefelejcs4 3 years ago
i dont think the plural form of "Nazgul" is "Nazguls". i think it's just plain "Nazgul".
