@ozzyhead73 Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you. I've seen interviews with Sammy where HE said it was a disaster. He said they basically avoided each other on the whole tour right up to the minute they went out on stage. Eddie's boozing was pretty much out of control at this point.

Unfortunately even now (in my opinion) eddie sounds awful. Like a high school kid trying to play crazy solos and completely destroying them. It's really unfortunate. Sammy Hagar was awesome for the material that he wrote with Van Halen. David Lee Roth was awesome for what he wrote with Van Halen. Their voices just aren't cross compatible. They both are great though. I hate when people compare their voices when they sing two completely different styles. I'd love to see you try to sing.

Saw this tour in Sacramento on 8-11-04. One of the few concerts I felt I was RIPPED OFF! Eddie was a mess. Worst guitar playing I have ever seen from him. His solo was a big rambling disaster. To think I spent over $200 for 2 tickets on this show still makes me mad. Total $ grab tour.

This must be the same tour where Eddie tried to break the windows out of the jet the were flying in. Sammy vowed NEVER to fly with Eddie again, and also surrounded himself with bodyguards to protect himself from being stalked by Eddie Munster.

Sammy said that when Eddie came out on the stage with his hair like that, it was time to prepare for the worst. Said Eddie was getting ready to flip out... He would change and put his hair up between sets and then just get wierd, solos were fucked and a lotta whammy bar insanity.... fucking Eddie. I wish he coulda held his shit together. He totally lost it... somewhere.

Clearly, no one in their right mind would play, own, much less DESIGN consecutive guitars as ridiculous & ugly as seen here. Leo Fender and Ted McCarty designed the only real solid-body electrics. Meth addicts disassemble televisions, etc., (i.e., begin many projects they NEVER finish. Edward does this frequently, but mostly with DREADFUL guitar designs. Ernie Ball, Peavey, and now Fender greedily attempt to market these for 2-3 yrs. Sound right? "Greed" & "Turd" nearly sound alike, don't they?

Alas, Eddie is truly a shell of what he used to be, mainly, a world class rock guitarist, and one of the best at that. His playing at this point in time was very sloppy and uninspiring. The current 'Rolling Stone' article was very depressing to read, as a longtime fan. You would think that one of the most highly revered guitarists ever would respect himself a lot more than he obviously did, under the spell of alcohol! That said, I can't watch / listen to this clip. His playing is horrid.

According to the RollingStone excerpts from Sammy's new book, on this tour when Eddie would come out on stage with his hair banded up (usually after Al's drum solo) he would be wasted and barely could play. Whats with the hair? (maybe to keep it from catching fire when he blazed up the glass dick).

Eddie looks pretty strung out, Sammy appears to be a lttle bit slower and heavier than years past, there is not much interaction between two of them, and guitarwork is messy as hell. This is a Roth-era tune which probably did not help either. I last saw VH in concert back in 1988 on OU812 tour and they were terrific. Back then we did not have internet and youtube and cameraphones so all bad shows were not available to the world and band's mystique was not diminished. Things sure have changed.

@industrialsun My first VH live experience was the F.U.C.K. tour in Hartford. Life-changing, epically inspiring, stratospheric in its enormous awesome-ness.... FFwd to this show, again in Hartford in July '04. Everyone's out of time w/ each other 'cos they never managed to get a full rehearsal in(we now know), and Eddie was, well the same weirdo we see in these vids. I'm not a big Roth-era guy so I can't comment on the recent tour, but this was a damn shame. Sammy kicks ass w/ or w/o VH....

I saw the show in Los Angeles. Had a blast, but it was clear then, and from this video, that Eddie was wasted as hell. No wonder Sammy and Micheal never played with VH again after this tour.

Eddie just looks totally unhealthy here to me. And if you notice, there is NO interaction between Sammy and Ed. They were really hating each other on this tour...lol. I saw them in Boise 2004, and it was the same deal. Great to see them, but you could tell that there was just tension on that stage...

Amazing performance for reasons good and bad. Sammy and Ed hardly have a great chemistry. Ed's insane - wtf? hairstyle, meth-mouth, drinking and pull-offs, loads of mistakes- rhythm and pitch wise and yet some great playing from EVH.  There's no one quite like him is there?
