@sysLink15 Not gay in the least. This costume is part of his Macphisto persona. Everything he sings/says/does has a meaning behind it. They are a band with DEPTH (unlike the current trash out there)!!
pragmatician - when I heard this version for the first time years ago I was surprised Bono didn't try to reach those high notes on 'GoldenEEEYE', because I think he could do this with no problems - go and search for 'Lemon' by U2.
People may not like Bono's singing voice (choice of personal taste) but there's no doubting that he's a great singer with a lot of versatility to his name. Here he's actually singing as a different person (MacPhisto)who is sort of British, sophisticated and melancholic style to his singing. That's talent.
Worst part is the opening: it's too long and also the end which is close to Irish lepricon. The funniest part is where Tina Turner is her best: at the high notes where Bono can't go. Another excellent part of the song is at the lyrics: Youll never know Tina brings her soul and vibrato to it and it makes it perfect. Her vocals would be enough.
All the respect to the U2 for making amazing song, it's not easy to make a good song with incredible melody but Tina gives the final touch for this song.
Sad thing is that if you check out all the Youtube videos where the official Goldeneye version with Tina Turner is playing there is no mention about U2, Bono and Edge on the video´s "info area" or the "tags" area.
this is so badass !

Wait a minute... I have a U2 demo of "Goldeneye" very similar to this one... but mine is a different take and lasts longer (4'40, I guess).
Can you send me this version, please? :D

They are virtually identical save for a longer intro and a less coherent vocal. IMHO this is the better one.

The pics are really well chosen ! Every U2 fan knows that it's MacPhisto who is singing, not Bono !

Exactly. Always liked the song, would never have worked with MacPhisto on the final cut but would be excellent if performed on a tour.

No, they heard she had been hired to sing the theme song and offered to write the song for her. It was never meant to be them.
