once i had to format it and i lost everything

i would like to split my disk into partitions

if my programs r already installed and then i resize it,will they stay on the original drive where windows is installed or will they move to the new partition??

Hi Duncan,By technique I managed to create 3 partitions of my 93 GB HDD ,after tweaking them to required values it has resulted into 3 unallocated spaces of 1GB,2GB,44GB. It no use to create a partition of 1 or 2 GB . I want to merge these individual unallocated spaces .Please let how to go around. Well thanks for the resizing technique.  Sazxda

there's also 'gparted' which uses a livecd/usb image, its free too.

This IS gparted. It's just basically an OS that holds gparted. Otherwise, you'd have to get like, Ubuntu or something to run it.

the program that duncan is showing isn't gparted mate. u are difinatly miss informed, watch his video again. =) he uses partedmagic. gparted is a live cd and boots and store in your ram temporary so u dont need ubuntu to use it. its 4 all operating systems. i dont know about macs though.
