i am sure the tea party is about as diverse as the tax base. while it may not be demographically the same as the overall population, I'd bet it closely mirrors the demographics of those who actually pay income tax.

I am a grandmother, a mother and a tea party believer. My children are both white and black - my grandchildren, Indian, Canadian, Irish and more - and one day, more grandchildren that are also white, black and have a mother who was born in Poland. Diversity counts the most to people who count heads by race.If you don't count heads by race,then you probably don't have a preoccupation with race.The only reason you would have a story like this is because the people who count heads by race are trying to say the movement is racist. Most white people don't play identity politics, we don't think of ourselves as "white people" in America,we think of ourselves as Americans.People saying "black power" sound as strange as the "white power" people.

I have been to them, I didn't watch them on MSNBC or CNN. I can say without a doubt that the movement isn't racist, even if a few racists show up. But just because some idiot with a stupid sign shows up it doesn't invalidate my message nor does it make what I think count for any less.
