@RGVCripted I had a DR650 - great bike. No complaints at all. But I wanted a bike with more wind protection for more comfortable longer rides. The KLR fits the bill perfectly for me.
08klr owner and i love the dang thing,no speed demon but it will get you there and you can pack all your camping equipment and lawn chairs and feel proud.Oh no please don't scratch it bike, scratches and dings are a badge of honor on a klr.If you don't dump it your not trying hard enough.
It can do a lot more than that too! I've had mine on some white knuckle Jeep trails in Death Valley and Baja . . . and it'll split lanes on the 405 all day . . . no problem! But I'd really love a Yamaha XT660 . . . bring it over PLEASE!
@MetalHeadKLR650 Good deal. If it's your 1st ride you'll probably sell it for more power, faster, bling, etc later on. Then when you're out riding your purty street bike you'll wish you could go off and explore the dirt roads. Eventually you'll come back to the swiss army bike -> The KLR. That's my prediction. LOL
What bike?....The thumper beat "putt-putt" exhaust and the front beak fender all say KLR. All the riding types: pavement; off pavement; trail...also say KLR.
Got an '07...what a fun ride for so many destinations!

I just bought a 2011 KLR last week. It's a great bike. It's a little tall for my 5'7" frame, but that's no big deal.

@O7ROADKING It's not a super thrilling bike but you can use it for pretty much any kind of riding you want to do. It's a VERY flexible ride.
