I love reading how upset people are that she didn't do anything sooner, because, of course, that is what the book & the movie WANT you to feel about her character. However, she isn't there to save the day; she didn't want to be everyone's seeing-eye dog, so she kept her mouth shut, and helped only for her husband who she felt responsibility towards. It wasn't until SHE was a victim that she felt a broader sense of social responsibility & acted. Allegory for global disaster relief, I think.

i think people don't like this movie because its controversial but i like it because of that i like seeing things in different ways having different points of views i have way to open of a mind with way too many opinions.. i absolutely love this movie 10/10 but dont see it if your a feminist or get offended easily, you wont like it.

1. The doctor's wife IS THE WIFE OF A DOCTOR!!!!! Why the fuck would she volunteer to suck off a blind nasty thug she doesn't know just to get some C-rations? I didn't like the movie. I thought the main character should've done something sooner. You need food and someone has stolen it and said if you want it you have to give me you money or your body so I can rape you. Isn't it NECESSARY to stop him from causing harm to you?

I think it was realistic in all points but that one. If I was her and a blind person held a gun to me and said if I wanted to eat I have to sleep with him I would take the gun. Because I can see and he can't.

i enjoyed this film and i was so shocked by it. It was all very realistic, and brilliantly directed. And there had to be a ray of hope at the end, because we all need hope.

OMG. this has to be one of the worst movies ever. OK - cinematogrophy and all that stuff aside, i just wanted to strangle julianne moores character and say 'DO SOMETHING ALREADY. she could have run the place instead of just being a wimp. as for the movie ending I think they wanted to end with some ray of hope since that one guy's sight came back.

but all in all - simply a waste of time and talent.

No, i mean, i bet the book is interesting and stuff. It's just appalling to see such good actors wasted on such absurd situations. I severely doubt this is how it would go down in reality. It's lack of common sense logic doesn't allow for the 'deeper meaning' to come out. It falls flat.

You fail to realize that humans become predatory when presented with the most difficult situations. I think it was very well directed and depicted based on human emotion and the will to live.

i understand that people are at their most basic, capable of terrible terrible things, but honestly it was much less about human morality than vainly and awkwardly trying to prove an overarching 'message'. It's metaphor outweighs its practical, human story. I even think people are predatory without that difficult of a situation, we're born assholes.
