  • I think this is great until Paul starts to shed, there around 4:22

Don't get me wrong, though, I love his technique, but I think there it becomes a bit misplaced....

  • This has to be the smallest kit mike has ever played on.. :P

  • That would be a Ringo kit.

  • Awesome!!! I think the camera man was in love with mike though...not enough footage of Paul!

  • i thought they only played once. this is not at BB King's house of blues. where is this one from?

  • the drummer is great!!!

  • mike looks like mario with long hair

  • great video and great song!

  • does anyone know where i can get an MP3 of this? i searched iTunes, they dont have =[

  • yes .. I have this one .. send me your email on a private message ;)

  • i can help you, send me your email and i send to you this song

  • Gilbert fucking kills that shit

  • God I love that snare.

  • Love portnoys style here. Never stepping on anyones feet. Just holding the groove. the mans like a clock.

  • this is actual the band that got paul into rock

  • the god of all cover bands

if only the singer would be quiet for Gilbert and Portnoy lol

  • eric clapton you were so fucked by gilbert here

  • paul just makes it sound so effortless

  • Paul Gilbert is the sickest guitar player

  • they turned this into a masterpiece

  • they do an awesome version, but it was already a masterpiece

  • Because it wasnt already?

  • it was already a masterpiece, it just got further cemented into legendary status =]

  • Paul is just so soulful. I look up to that dude, in hopes that I'll someday be able to play even half as great as he does.

  • that voice is totally george harrison!

  • the camera should've focused on pg more

  • This was recorded at MODERN DRUMMER FEST so they're focusing on PORTNOY.

  • as great as Portnoy is - he just can't sit behind the beat and be firmly "in the pocket". If there was ONE thing Ringo is known for is his ability to lay behind the beat and create a massive pocket for Paul to play in.

    Gilbert is superb here.

  • great musicians all around

  • So much fucking passion in all of them.

  • That has gotta be one of the most awe inspiring guitar solos I have ever seen

  • I was at this concert. Paul Gilbert is indeed a guitar god and I believe I nearly had an orgasm while watching and listening to him play........

  • vaya solo,increible...

  • so goood.- !!!!!!!!!!.,

  • I can listen to this all day long... like 24/7

  • this is great but lol vocally i can do better lol!!! I CAN im really from liverpool

  • ... I already saw you video and....I perfer this vocalist than you

  • hey least ya see it lol !!!!!

  • damn i love paul but hes basically a machine. he plays everything with such ease that at this point the soul he tries to put into things just seems to forced...hes a great guy and all its just that hes a machine...

  • C'mon... how can you say that paul gilbert is just that ' machine' you said... that guitar was awesome and the rhythm was good... anyhow... I respect you're opinion... just wondering why you've said that

  • its just like theres no effort required for him to play something amazing, everthing he plays is awesome, but its just too mechanical for me...i know its wierd

  • paul should have gotten another one of his violin ibanez's for this show.

  • mike's kit is a ringo starr replica

  • Wicked!! This video is amazing... Paul's solo is just ripping, awesome. Nice to see Mike on a smaller kit instead of one as big as my house.

Really did the Beatles justice... man I would have loved to see them play live. Good work champs!

  • Yeah i know thats so wierd seeing mike on a regular kit haha

  • haha lol i love his big drumset

  • This is an incredible solo, surprised me even for Paul!

What JACKET is he wearing? its awesome!

  • Amazing.

  • what kind/measurements of the crash cymbals he's using here?

  • Wow, It's really amazing to hear the Beatles with a drummer that doesn't gargle balls!

  • Commence the flaming.

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Good one.

I never really cared for Ringo, either.

  • This video doesn't have nearly as many views as it should.

  • anyboyd have tabs for gilberts part lol if anyone knows where could they send them to me...greatly appreciated

  • while my guitar shreddingly screams!

  • wait what did portnoy said before he started the beat?

  • are the drums in that kit smaller than the standard?

    or maybe it's just me

  • Define standard ;)

Nowadays I don't think there really is a standard configuration

  • Just you. Looks like a standard 14" Snare and 12" Tom, not sure about the floor tom, might be a small 14" floor. Kick might be a 20" (instead of usual 22")

  • Where can I get the mp3 version of this song . I LOVE IT !

  • AWESOME!! 5 stars!

    -hayqal

  • the reals Fantastic 4

    :)

  • PG rocks!

  • it is not important who´s faster....... they are all masters in what they are doing...

    hate this comparing......

  • exactly.

  • isnt paul gilbert faster than malmsteen , vai and petrucci??? i think he is..

  • he may not be faster than malmsteen but hes alot more interesting to listen to

  • Yet no one will beat batio

  • He certainly plays with a lot more musical and plays with a lot more soul than Malmsteen and Vai. He is god at improvising

  • it doesnt matter! he maybe not be faster, but he is way better, and funnier, and a better singer, and a nicer guy

  • paul gilbert has more soul than malmsteen does i feel. Look at his visual expression. I can feel it .

  • edit: drummin's good

  • vocals dont match up... everything else is so-so

  • so-so this: %$*^#

  • 2:34: Neils face

he just came in his pants

  • i think he just did a"Mr. Bean" face

  • The beatles were great and layed the platform for incredible songs!!! I think this surpasses the original!!!!

  • with all due respect to The Four Masters... these guys make this piece of art sound increeeeeedible... perhaps even better than the original...

Portnoy and Gilbert are completely nuts... they RULE!

  • one of the sickest modern drummer festivals ive been to

  • you lucky bastard!! XD!!!

  • Look at how long his pinky fingers are at 5:15 in. Dude was born to play guitar.

  • is that mike portnoy on drums? DT rapes.

  • fuckin amazing.

Paul's guitar solo is simply perfect.

and lol... portnoy can really go fuckin crazy on such a small drumkit.

    AWSOME

  • Oh my God hahahah they're not even trying and they wreck! Look at them at 5:47 they look like they're having so much fun.

  • I have a total man crush on Paul Gilbert and Mike Portnoy.

  • dream theater drummer + Mr. Big guitarist = power!!!

  • damn.

mike and paul should jam soooooo much more often, cause thats just fucking amazing.

  • is it me or does Pauls setup sound bad?

like he lost a lot of consistency and definition from the gain?

    w/e, i'm buzzed lol

  • i think it sounds amazing, he never misses a note in the slightest. IMO every note sounds like straight up buttsecks

  • excelente cover!! Por dios! que voz similar a la de John!!!

  • portnoy shows his great skills here, minimal set of drums and you can see some kind of magic when he is playin

  • his fills are godly!

    my idol

but paul gilbert! how the fuck is he so good?!?!?!??!?!?!?

  • Amazing cover and Paul rips it as usual!!!

  • this kit proves mike portnoy is mortal lol...

  • amen people say Mike would be lost on a 4 piece... and I DECLARE BULLSHIT!!!

  • offcourse it's bullshit! too many jealous people in this world....

  • Paul...it's not "while my guitar gently explodes"...

    but excellent. as always.

  • cooool

  • AMAZING cover

  • Gilbert is a better guitarist than George, and Portnoy is a WAY better drummer than Ringo. I dunno about the other two, but that being true, I can still say the Beatles are probably the best band ever. Their writing is just unbelievable. Even up against Dream Theater's.

  • Dream Theater is my favorite Band, the beatles are my second. But without the beatles, Dream Theater woudln't exists. Like all the other rock/hard rock/metal band. The beatles IS the music's revolution.

  • I agree, but DT rule the earth forever

    amen....

  • not really, i still think without the beatles bands like led zeppelin and black sabbath would have come along

  • Awesome!

  • what an amazing team

  • shame most people here only know Gilbert and Portnoy, and not Morse, who is a super versatile, proficient, multi-instrumentalist.

  • tumeni notes

  • That's Steve Morse.

  • Será verdad? increible.

  • great groove towards the end!!

  • These guys are sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!

  • Oh yeah! Listen to Gilbert murder that Ibanez, absolutely fantastic!

  • lol, that's probably the smallest drumkit I've ever seen Portnoy play on.

Brilliant song. Gilbert was absolutely outstanding, as was Portnoy. I also thought the bassist was great too. Not really a huge fan of this guys vocals, but it didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the song.

  • better than the beatles

  • It's a great cover,yes

  • Nothing is better than Beatles. Even if you don't share the opinion, It's most definite that no one is better than them at their own songs. Not starting anything, just saying.

  • You're very right, but these guys get damn close.

  • That they do indeed.

  • Simplesmente fantástico....

  • Neal Morse, Portnoy y Gilbert juntos esto no es real...

  • its a tribute band with their own flavor...if u dont like it, dont watch it!

  • while my guitarist soulfully shreds

  • Holy flirkin shnit!

  • nice cover, i love this song.

  • Great tribute. If you guys wanna hear some identical to the beatles, just listen to the beatles ;)

  • his guitar is actually violently roaring. Still gilbert presented another great solo.

  • hahaha Look at Paul's website and he has a link to this video that says "While my Guitar Gently Unleashes the Fury".

  • haha

  • On Wikipedia it says its one of his smallest sets, its supposed to model Ringo Starr's set

  • I wonder if Mike has ever played on a set that small before.

  • F-O-O-K-I-N-G A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • Yup, I guess you are a musician so great that you can afford to call Gilbert, Portnoy and Morse "some people"...

  • Who cares? Gilbert's playing still has so much emotion behind it.

  • These guys are made musicians, they are not trying to reproduce the original song, they are doing a tribute, playing the song with their style and using their chops. Some people just don't get it.

  • I can feel the sorrow in that guitar

    :)

Music is art... and art is SO subjective

  • what's wrong with the solo anyways...? ^^

    it's awesome...

  • It's called a tribute cover.

  • =0 damn

  • awwgh gilbert's amazing here... great great cover.

  • The great Neal Morse is simply amazing.

  • fuckin' amazing cover!!!

    Paolino Gilberto the best!!!

  • wonderful!!!!

    the song is awesome

the band...well what can i say? 4 masters!!!!

  • Bissonette isn't getting much camera time in these videos.

Ooo, Morse pulled out a Rick at the end, what now?

  • Neal Morse is one of the best progressive rock compositor

  • I love everybody, bassman, guitarsinger, Paul Gilbert & Mike. Excellent band. This Symbol Video.

  • Yellow Matter Custard!

  • I love Paul Gilbert and Mike Portnoy!
