The Taunus V4 was a V4 piston engine with one balance shaft, introduced by Ford Motor Company in Germany in 1962. The German V4 was built in the Cologne plant and powered the Ford Taunus and German versions of the Granada, Capri and Transit. It is sometimes considered not to be a 'true' V engine as two opposing pistons do not share a crankpin on the crankshaft.
The V4 was later expanded into the Ford Cologne V6 engine that was used in the Ford Capri, Ford Taunus, Ford Cortina, Ford Consul, For

Don't be fooled by the geek squad! Very strong ride and reliable. Basic 4 cylinder is a variable valve timing engine(VVT)that makes you feel like you are running 6. The electronic tuned 4 speed trans designed for smooth shifting and fuell economy. Transmission adjust to your driving habits that give you complete control when its time to move out. Great on highway. My Avenger has 22,000 miles no problems. On the R/T geeks don't know how to use auto-stick. Life time warranty on powertrain. Buy USA
Inspired from tigers and boxing gloves? Where the heck is that even applied? I happen to be maybe one in five in this country that still owns the original 1995-2000 Avenger that bought it brand new. My other car is a GTO that had the "Tiger" marketing from the 60's. No manual transmission available on the Avenger or Charger? What has this world come to? Come on Dodge, don't market sports car names without offering a manual transmission option.
In mexico we have a 2.0 v4 engine with manual transmission and is has the same features that the 2.4 v4 automatic only that is like 500 dollars cheaper
V4? are u on crack there is no such thing as a V4 u mean the L4 also known as the I2.4 and I2.0 chrysler doesnt make a V4 thats a term females say alot.
i enjoy my 96 sebring witch is the same as a 95-2000 avenger. i dont like the new avengers im happy with my good old 2.5 V6 that give me 170hp just put a new tranny in it at 120k its at 138k now and just changed my waterpump and timing belt and still works like it did back in 96! gotta love the first generation they were nice looking and gave out viper/intrepid look i love the old evenger and sebrings but the sebring has a better rear end then the avenger
Nice information. It is a shame there are many errors. As mentioned by funkydunky1, the compartment holds four cans. Also, the Caliber is based on it's own platform, that is shared with the Patriot and Compass. The Avenger and Sebring are the two cars off this platform.

I hate this car. The original looked a lot better. I owned an 07 Nitro and I'll never own another dodge again.

It's a AWSOME CAR! but is it reliable and tough ?

3.5L V6 is very sturdy.
Strong connecting rods and main caps, forged crank. Probably good to an easy 400hp. Will last forever at 250
