What are you trying to say that when a reservoir tank cracks, it has a blown head gasket? it is a symptom yes but you'd have to have more evidence than a simple crack... bet it was annoying when you found it though... lol
i have an EB and they are beautiful cars, powerful, smooth and fucking safe. Shits on any commodores ive owned and ive had 4 of them. And even if you do have to change the head gasket they are soo easy, and if you put an AU head gasket onto it you get a higher comp ratio and they are harder to blow out
hey, i have an EA, it shakes while idling, blows mass smoke out the exhuast, loosing water from the radiator, so i am assuming its a blow head gasket as they are notorious for head gasket probs. How do you change one on an EA/EB??? do u have a video or a forum u can direct me to???
Coolant reservoir to battery: "FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU!!!"
I've had nothing but V8 Fords, but can't agree they're the only good ones. Had my worst experience to date with a 96 Modular (Triton) 4.6L made in Romeo. The entire series turned me off of Ford after working on it (could have been it being in an F-250 XL, too). Gonna run it til it dies, and go back to the good ol' 302.
v6 mustang 3.8 taurus 3.0 and 3.8 1987 to 1997 v6 thunderbirds 3.8 many 3.8s you are not car savvy my friend .you know nothing about fords buddy so just dont embarras yourself here.
geez calm down mate , i assumed u meant an AUSSIE ford engine , i try my hardest to avoid , anything with v6 and taurus in it , aussie I6 's are the shit
You think a 3.8 Ford is known for Bad transmissions & headgaskets. Try having a British Rover 400 with the K-series engine in it. The Rover 416 SLi (Honda Civic shape) is the worst car in the entire world for that. I had one previously, looks just like a reliable little Honda Civic on the skin but much cheaper & nastier. Car had 105,000 miles on it & it had 4x Headgaskets, 2x gearboxes & endless backpressure inlet manifold problems. Taught me to buy a proper H/Civic & not a cheap copy-cat.
Its a down scale Civic. Rover equivalents have always been cheaper in price & depreciated more than their Honda sisters. Because they used cheaper parts on them & built them worse in a sloppy English factory in Longbridge. I mean look at the engines. The K-series 16V in a Rover kept blowing headgaskets, crap Peugeot gearboxes & suffered from inlet manifold illnesses. Hondas never did! They made the K-series into a V-Tec engine which has ended up the most reliable engine Honda produced.
Not really... Old Hondas are exactly the same inside as Rovers. The whole cabin is the same even the instrument readings are all the same except that Rovers have their own steering wheel & a loud dual tone horn unlike Hondas pathetic little "beep" & they have a few more added strips of wood on the insides of the passenger doors & they are cheaper priced. Honda Civics have tighter steering/handling, better brakes, harder wearing suspension, good gearbox, better engine. More reliable in general.
Ive driven both Rover 400 & 5-door Honda Civic LS. Rover 400's look slightly better in appearance on the outside than Honda Civics but you can definitely tell that Rover equivalents are more of the cost-cuts. You have to have driven them personally yourself to tell the difference. I noticed that a Rover 400 does handle a bit like a boat, doesn't stop on the brakes quite as good, Has horrid gear shifts, & the steering lock does make a few more funny clicks all in comparison to a Honda Civic.
Yeah I've driven the Rover but havent got much experience with that particular Civic model in which it's based. What I noticed right away is that the Rover looks a lot better in quality on the cockpit, all leather includin steering, wood and chrome trim on the floor entrance with "Rover" engraved it looks pretty nice. Didn't knew that on the mechanical side it lacked quality. Actually where I live Rovers were more expensive than Honda's.
Rovers more expensive then Hondas? good christ! They are 3x cheaper than Hondas over here! Rov's had a very famous head gasket fault in the K-series engines along with Peugeot gearboxes which were appalling! Sounds like they are charging more on the basis that they look nicer because of the chrome & leather & have "Rover" engraved in places as you find in a luxury car. Mechanically they were crap! Honda Civics are the original shape not Rover & Civics are always known as the safer bet.
The only decent luxury Rover was the Rover 75 which was on-par in-class with the Jaguar X-type as the Rover 75 was BMW's experiment. The smaller more compact Rovers like the Rover 400/45 & Rover 200/25 were the worst Honda Civic examples. I can't believe they tagged them all as luxury cars because the rest of them were far from it. Rovers extra exterior chrome touches, classy badges & the attractive well-polished colour coded bumpers with English styling doesn't mean its what it says it is!
The only 1 advantage Rovers got over a Honda Civic is the SDi Diesel availability in the range which is what Hondas lack. A Honda Engined Rover is a fine car to have but it must be cheaper than a Honda Civic in price. If its more expensive or on-par with a real Honda Civic then ditch the idea because its a crapper car anyway. If a K-series engined Rover is more expensive then a Honda Civic then just shoot the seller! ha ha. Rovers are nice cars to look at its just a shame they are so shit.
Hahah completely agree and the 75 is a beauty I'd love to have one. I doubt they will be very expensive since Rover no longer exists and I doubt part will be easy to find. At least outside of the uk or europe. I might get a 75 one day when they are cheap just as an oddity.
Ive seen 75's less then £1500 here. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to specially buy a Rover 75. I know to you its a must-have but its going to leave you with a lot of "where do I get parts" headaches especially if it went wrong. Jag X-Types are relatively the same & some are less than £2000 so they are worth considering also. 75's are a great luxuary car for such a low price. Its good that you can enjoy the finer things in life from a Rolls/Merc without paying the price tag! lol
this was the result of trying to get it started and to idle with a pot or twoo filling with water then compressing the cooling system turned out it was a crack in the head between cylinders 2 3 with broken head bolts on cylinder two .
we have a 2002 F-150 with the V8 Triton in it, has about 101,000 miles and so far no problems whatsoever. and she gets does her fair share of work too. maybe we just got one model that was meant to last lol
@cagonesss ford v8's are shit house... and i am ford man... the onlt good ford motors are the new ones that are comeing out in the GT's the eb au ba 8 where shit!
@cagonesss just so you know, a bad head gasket can over pressurize the coolant system and cause this exact problem. Its gonna find a way out of that coolant system. And you obviously dont know anything about fords.
