  • omg this is scary xx we had a terrible storm in chicago 2009. it got so bad that they had to cancel a baseball game (like we cared) xx but the storm lasted all day. a huge cloud came over chicago around 6am in the morning and didnt stop til about 12midnight or early the next morning. lighting struck down trees and all. I swear to god as we were driving,i saw a tree like totally split in half !

  • Oh, my, that is a scary sky! WOW!!

  • it looks like the dark cloud on lost

  • Damn, looks like War of the Worlds

  • its a creeper....

  • If I saw that damn cloud i'd be the first one out of there!! Scary as hell!!!

  • I was not on the beach on 8th of August 2010, but the storm hit here in 30 minutes after Helsinki. We had 35 celsius on that warm sunday, and even in the evening it was very hot. Suddenly I noticed that the colours turned to yellow, after it to red, and very dark.

The storm was furious in here also, I have never earlier been seeing the winds in here like that. microbursts or downburst cutted the trees usually from two meters like matches. It cutted a birch from our yard.

  • lol is that real ?

  • Is there a special name for this type of storm behavior?

  • lol, oh Sauron...

  • who opened the box.....

  • I thoroughly expected to see the UFO from Independence Day pop through those clouds......or maybe a Star Destroyer.

  • Jesus Age Christ

  • I think that would be scarier if it were an approaching tidal wave, *shudders*

  • Isn't that Sauron?

  • Google "HAARP technology"...

  • @bebekangel

    Google "ignorant scientifically-illiterate asshole".

  • saca soh as andorinhas fugindo como se algo de ruim estivese chegando shaushuashuas

  • ODIN IS ANGRY!

  • Nothing strange with this. Tho the temperatures lately been very high.

  • @raphaelhdds

Please look up the more than a thousand videos of the same event on the same day on YouTube: the Helsinki storm, August 8, 2010.

  • @raphaelhdds Lol wtf? You know, we also have the summer time in Finland. And its WARM. In july 2010 there was +37.2 degrees and sunny. It's the Finnish record

  • @Scandinavian92 Holy shit!! it makes 37 degrees. i always think that is very cold every time in there.

  • @raphaelhdds Yeah, there's a warm ocean current Gulf Stream, which brings warm air to Northern Europe and Scandinavia. We have cold winters but warm summers :D

  • @raphaelhdds WHAAA- we love chilling on the beach

  • @raphaelhdds you americans just don't know anything about other countries... -.-

  • @1dsdsds1 hahahaha but wait. i'm brazilian not american we both fail. nobody know nothing about nothing here

  • @raphaelhdds I really hope youre not serious... XD

  • @raphaelhdds stfu you dumb fucking moron

  • wow that's scary

  • Beach in Finland?

  • @jorgendavidsson

You don't believe there are beaches in Finland? This is Hietaniemi Beach in Helsinki.

  • @jorgendavidsson Yes, I believe they are quite common in coastal areas around the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @jorgendavidsson More beautiful beaches than in Sweden ;)

  • @Scandinavian92 haha, yeah right.....it was a joke, but people don´t understand humor anymore so i´m ok with that.... my point was that a beach is probably the last thing we think of when we hear Finland!

  • @jorgendavidsson awesome joke indeed

  • dats like straight outa 2012

  • scary!

  • like The Day After tomorrow!

japanese word "kowai! nigero!" 怖い 逃げろ

  • it was so fucking scary, i was at beach that day. like 30 minutes ago it was sunny, then began the crazy wind, then this arrived. thunders in a rate of 100/per minute. never seen anything like this.

  • I saw this from the Military-island of Santahamina (I'm a conscript). It's a bit more out on the sea, and I've never seen anything like this. The best thing was that the next morning we left to camp for three days. We were so scared that the weather would be like this, but lucky for us it wasn't.

  • hi, I'm Chilean, and I read about this on a newspaper.

    It's incredible.

I would like to go to Filand.

    :)

  • why does so much weird shit happen in finland, norway and sweden?

  • @pwnag3

    OK, I'll bite. Like what?

  • @baracine

well, this weird spiral thing over norway v=qKL0Z5TDZ0o

  • @pwnag3

This "weird spiral" was explained to everybody's satisfaction (except morons) as a rocket booster. See: Y2nss13GvPM . It happens in California as well as in Australia - all the time. The low quality of digital cell phone cameras makes it look worst.

  • @baracine

yes. and there's a lot of other things that i can't think of right now.

  • @pwnag3

The operative words here are "I can't think".

  • @baracine

maybe. but that doesn't mean weird shit doesn't happen over there.

  • @pwnag3

Weird shit happens everywhere. It's called global warming.

  • @baracine

Actually, this could be a random event unrelated to any sort of anthropogenic forcing. While it is true that many climate models predict increased instances of extreme events, and increased severity of those events, I would hesitate to characterize every freaky weather thing as being caused by climate change. Doing this just makes it easier for climate deniers to point to "media hysteria", and I think distracts from the scariest impacts of climate change, like sea level rise.

  • @lexophilia

There is nothing random about the Finland storms. They are most likely related to the Russian forest fires, which are themselves highly unusual.

  • @pwnag3

Oh, I forgot. The only ones who didn't get the memo about global warming are the Americans. My bad!

  • es jhon locke???

  • Previously on Lost...

  • A beach day is ruined?

    The opposite!

A boring beach day is turned into a superb experience with fantastic weather!

    I wish I was there!

  • nooo! live dudesons live!

  • OMG, that is beutiful and scary.

I want to live in Finland, not because of this, but because it is an amazing country with a splendid nature.

    T.T

  • 2012 is coming! :P

  • こりゃたいへんだ

  • And as an open area the beach was one of the worst place to be in such situation...

  • @kibbutskill Nature is beautiful in its beauty and in its infinite terrific phoenomena, we have just to understand, accept it, learn from it (and possibly stop spoiling it to make it even more 'angry')

  • calm down, It's just a sauna exploding....

  • the langoliers

  • Independence Day!

  • WAIT...

    the description says

"This is the only video on Youtube in real time, i.e. without the PAL-to-NTSC 1/24 speed-up, so it is a little longer than the other versions."

does that mean every other youtube video is sped up to compensate for our short attention spans?

... if so, Youtube is run by some smart people

  • @thatguyinpants

It means that all the other posters downloaded from a European website that had the film in a PAL version. PAL shows 25 frames per second whereas real film cameras run at 24 frames per second and the North-American NTSC standard converts 24 f/s into 30 f/s without speed-up. In other words, all PAL format films, DVDs, clips, etc. run 1/25 faster than reality. Do you understand? In spite of your short attention span? It has nothing to do with YouTube.

  • wasnt that bad (i was around there)

  • @nipander11 i'm 4km from that beach i think, inside my apartment, i was terrified, unless you are a LORDI lover with some OLUT ;)

  • I thought those fierce, quick storms in the alps were bad, dammmmn, I am never going to Finland, although that beach does look goooooood.

  • @LegoInc LMFAO

  • @LegoInc HAHAHHA

  • @LegoInc roflmaoo oh brother *facepalm*

  • easy fake there is only a couple families located on the beach which only two reacted to this massive stormcloud. and why would he stop filming?

  • @speederace

@speederace because the first black clouds arrived over the movie maker HEAD ! you don't wanna stand with a metallic camera up your head with 1000 thunders (+ when the clouds arrived there was a terrible wind (when you hear screaming in this video with some paper flying on the beach -and a man running out from the water, last seconds)

  • @speederace

One really has to take time out to ponder the complete idiocy of your comment. There are approximately 2,500 YT videos on the Helsinki storm of August 8, 2010 and YOU have decided that it's not REAL enough for your Hollywood tastes. I'm so sorry it's not up to your exacting CGI standards... I just guessed you were an American teenager because only an American and a teenager could be so ignorant and uninformed and, guess what, I was right...

  • @speederace

Another reason I guessed you were an American teenager is that your kind never was let out of your parents' basement where you spent your short ignorant life playing video games. You have never actually seen open air, grass, real sunshine, let alone a storm and crazy weather. It must actually be hard for you to imagine that there are foreign countries like Finland where people live close to nature and don't even speak English. Just saying...

  • @baracine You have to watch out for those blanket statements. You are sounding fairly ignorant yourself.

  • @Split539

It's not a blanket statement. American teenagers are the scum of the earth. They're the ones doubting the reality of anything that doesn't conform to their CGI, video game, action movie, comicbook, superhero standards, their only source of education. Yet, they also manage to be among the most gullible of human beings.

  • @baracine

Many American teenagers are much more committed and with it than their parents are. I was a teenage activist, as were many of my friends, and most of the people on the ground spreading the news about environmental issues like climate change (which also should be viewed as a socio-political issue) are teenagers and young adults.

Your argument doesn't hold up. It's like saying that every Finnish teenager gets into drunken knife fights while listening to death metal. Ei ole totta.

  • @lexophilia

I'm talking about the haters and spammers on YouTube: Most of them are American teenagers.

  • @baracine

Right behing Republicans and Creationists, of course.

  • @baracine Man i will give u a good advice , never argue with Americans becouse its useless. They have always right becouse they are from "America Fuck Yea !! " They are uneducated brainwashed millitary kids lacking knowledge and their education system is a fucking joke and everything outside their borders is FAKE !!! U cant blame them :D

  • @Vykuk123 Not all of us are like that. :/

  • @Vykuk123 Please, spare us your stereotypical comments. Not every American is as you say and passing judgment on an entire group is illogical and irrational. As you can see there are some Americans who make an effort to be educated and well groomed. Before you lump an entire nation together, remember that the comments of youtubers do not reflect a national mentality.

  • @CADIlolxD I dont give a shit about 20% of the americans u are talking about , anyways good for them if they are leaving the pack ,but majority is majority and judgment always goes on the notch of majority.
