Hello, I cross the bridge from philly and back atleast 2x each time on my bike as an exercise. Lately, I was just wondering, with all the motor traffic (fumes and carbon monoxide from cars) on the bridge, is it healthy or not.. Any thoughts?
aren't you supposed to go WITH pedestrian/bike traffic when you're on the walkway? i.e. to get back to philly you should be on the North walkway, not the south.
The DRPA only opens one walkway at a time, the north walkway is much narrower on the Camden side and is only open when the south walkway is closed for maintenance.
@bicyclecoalition I used to walk this and jog this years ago. Let me tell you that on the Camden side it is much improved from the 1980's. On the Camden side it doesn't matter since you can cross under the bridge in a pedestrian walkway tunnel, (not that I wanted to). I don't remember if the Philly side had such a tunnel under the pavement, but I remember as a walker it was not an issue.

I road across the Ben Franklin a bunch of times in the '70s. It's cool that you can take a bike on the Speed Line or whatever it's called now.

I always wanted to cross that walkway on the BFB, but never bothered doing so. Will do someday whenever I go to Philly.
