Without The Game and Hot Space an album like The Works would not possible because the foundation for The Works, but also The Miracle were placed there. Back Chat is one of my favorites on Hot Space but I love the album Hot Space just as much as Queen II. It's Queen music so stop whinning. ;-) ♥ ☼

Ok. Good song. Great Mr D! But the video really sucks! I mean, it's quite obvious there's non effort to make something here. May is "absent", Deacon is thinking about his car tires or something, Taylor is (probably) thinking about pussy... :-) Mercury is cut loose and does anything... but nothing. Lacking in ideas and a director. Really bad video.

Same with the guitar solo, I mean, nice technique (as always) but no soul, I was listening to the guitar solo on It's a Hard Life just before this and the difference is mind-blowing. As for the lyrics and vocals, I'm not going to say anything except The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke. This could've been a good song, but they chose not to do it.

But, probably arguing within the band, they managed to put one in anyway. And this song is waaaaaaaaay better in its live version. More rock'n'roll, faster, better "drummed". And yeah, I agree, Master Stroke is the description of a painting, but I challenge you to try to come up with a song based on a painting that's as good as that one. Well, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that no matter what the inspiration was, there WAS inspiration, much unlike this song appears to have.

Anyway, I think Master Stroke is pretty nice and I like Back Chat in its live version A LOT! But I still think comparing these two songs is a bit pointless, as they don't belong to the same genre... Back Chat compared with any other Deacon composition makes sense, or with other Hot Space songs, or with other songs of the same genre or period. Well, never mind... :-)

i have this album 'hot space' by queen in the 80's. and of all the tracks this was my favorite, played it over and over. i would even call a famous local radio station where i live if they have the record 'back chat', and would like to request for it. and the disc jockey had no idea of the song. i also waited for the singles release of this song in the u.s. because it's just that good for me, it had a hit potential. but correct me if i'm wrong, i don't believe if they've ever released it.

Everything Queen touched was gold, but they seemed to be following fashions with this album instead of creating them, as they had with every other album. 'Las Palabras de Amor' still stands on it's own, it wouldn't have fit on any Queen album and just doesn't seem to be them, but still their most underated song. An outstansing band even on their least inspiring album.
