Okay, so we've heard the epic music, eloquent similes and metaphors delivered by renowned public figures and have indulged ourselves with some visual niceties... but where are the facts? I am anti-CSG and have attended a few rallies. While I agree with the intension of the video its content was, to be frank, very disappointing. This is sub par propaganda at its best.

This is not to their area only, they are just being vocal about it at least. Coal Seam Mining is going anywhere they can and it is polluting water supplies everywhere.  I have seen and heard the science, it is indeed dirty and it is a serious threat to Australia's pure water. It is not scare tactics, what is scary is the lack of true concern and interest in our welfare and our children's welfare.

I was there, at the Lismore march. I am not a hippie, nor have I a history of being an activist. I am very fearful of what coal seam gas mining will bring to this region, fearful enough to lobby council metings, go to rallys, do whatever I can to stop this destruction.There were mainly farmers, locals and non hippy types at the rally. Anyway what's the big deal about hippies? It is really an outmoded term anyway.

There's 7 billion people on Earth created from the potent energy of fossil fuels, yes its use hurts the environment, but are you willing to stop driving, flying, buying oil based goods/food and to stop having children/consumers? If we stop using fossil fuels, or run out, we're going back to a population of around 1.5 billion, it's the law of physics and energy. We're in a conundrum, politicians are trapped, there is no solution, enjoy the ride for as long as you can. The Earth/Gaia will be fine.

A documentary film was made about this issue in the U.S.A. and it is called "Gasland ."

In this film there is footage of people lighting their tap water on fire because of coal seam gas operations contaminating their fresh water.
