  • haha 1:21 "dong" hello there ol' friend (win xp) ^^

  • Those goddamn bees, hated 'em. Annoying as hell.

  • I was really lucky to find a copy of this in Kmart for only $10.

It was the last one they had.

  • Xerxes won't like this...

  • Games like this are too complicated for the group of tards that play games nowadays...I think they've dumbed games down to grab a wider audience...

  • I watched your health in the beginning and was like ''nice knowing you''

  • i just noticed someone else posted the same comment below lol

  • 00:24 hello BOOM. lool

  • lol .. hello. ^^

  • i always hated the fuking robot

  • Hello?....BOOOM LOOOOOL

  • Does anyone know where I can torrent this game?

Yes, I know it's a sin to torrent great games (infact, I despise Piracy), but it's a bigger sin that this game isn't on Steam or GoG. I found only two copies on ebay, both of which are expensive. So piracy it is! Now I just need to find one. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Aw dude don't try to pirate it, kay? Game is worth the original price at least, but I think I saw an original copy on Ebay for 18 bucks...

And yeah, why isn't this on Steam with a pre-installed fix? It'll sell millions! D:

  • Yeah dude, totally. On the internet. Yer a champ. Tell that dude from across the country some random insult. Hope you feel better now. Nice one. Is it because everyone calls you white trash?

  • @MarkVega cause EA is full of shit, the Bioshock series is ok but System Shock series is unbeatable

  • The theater is full of comedy. Srsly. Some developer apparently wanted to sneak in a little statement about the outrageous prices of theater snacks. Even when you've hack the damn thing, they STILL cost way too much! :p

  • Truly a classic.

If you get the graphical upgrade packs, it looks a lot better too.

A remake would be AMAZING! I haven't played Dead Space yet, but apparently it's pretty much the REAL spiritual successor to SS2.

  • Pretty much, that was inside my head the whole time, that Dead Space is like a System Shock 2 lite. All it misses is Shodan....

..or does it? Definitely worth a play trough.

  • Hello? xDDDDDD

  • Damn you pile of disgusting worms!!

  • hello? BLAMMMMMM!!!

  • Words cannot describe how scary this game was.

I mean it's a hell lot scarier than resident evil, alien trilogy..

  • no wonder they call bioshock its spiritual successor...

  • i only played the demo! and now ima fan :D this game is so fuckin ultra cool! they should make a remake!

  • Definatly one of the top 10 games ever made.

  • LOL, Hello? BOOM!

  • yea lol

  • SS2 crashes after 1 minute or so of play time for me? Why!?

  • You might need to patch up ss2 to work if your using a dual or quad core processor ,

the easiest way to do it is to download SS2Tool_27

install a new installation in full then use the tool to patch up , there are many options it is best just to use the processor patch - no cd check - texture pool fix and directx fix , you can also from a fresh install make mod ready option too so you can have the SHTUP and Rebirth mod added using the mod manager

  • select only one cpu if you have many

  • try this:

start system shock 2, when in main menu start task manager.(ctrl alt del)

find sshock 2 in the tab processes, right click it then select priority, realtime

also go to affinity and uncheck cpu 0, worked for me.

  • This game is so fuckin' tight. I'm on the recreation deck so far and have never been this captivated by a game. The depth is brilliant.

  • Rofl the game plaey got scared

    Hello BOOM XD

  • lol, he goes in a room "hello?" BOOM!

  • PoPoNellie: "I just realized how funny it is for a 22nd century starship to have a film based projection system in its theater. "

Hehe, guess the reason might just be the same why some of us (including me) still enjoy vinyl records, 10 year old games, etc... The less 'technical quality' in what we see or what we hear, the more we can use our imagination.

I've played BioShock and Dead Space, but none of those get the feeling of SS2. 5/5 for the game.

  • bioshock was a great game, but it got less scary as the game progressed, probably because it focused on running and gunning. Since you could take it slow at the beginning, it was pretty scary. what they could've done was take the guns away from the enemies so they'd jump at you, but i suppose that would've made the game worse in some way

  • hacking is one of the best skills in the game. what mods are you running? any? i haven't tried any because i already did everything to make the game run 100% on windows xp.

  • Hello? Bam!!! 0n 0:25. lol.

  • If u download from torrent ure going 2 do alot of editing 2 the game 2 make it work maessage me if u need help with this or u generally just cant get it 2 work

  • Nice reaction speed at the begining when u shot in the store

  • piece of crap system shock 2? well, i lived long enough to hear that too. some people are too naive. when was it that you were born, yesterday?

  • lol system shock 2 is great ( a classic game )..........

however, a person who were born yesterday cannot even speak, write ,or type due to early development of their brain; "SakuraScatter" were not born yesterday but back further to the past where you described naive.

  • dude graphics dont make a game.

  • I have to differ a bit.

Graphics make a game with very little gameplay decisions (i.e., Need for Speed, Call of Duty, Crysis).

But with games like System Shock, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Fallout 3, the games "make itself", so to speak. So in this case, you'd be right.

  • how, graphics dont affect the gameplay at all

  • Well, I would play Fallout 3 or System Shock if the graphics were incredibly terrible, but I would not touch COD4 or Crysis if the graphics were terrible, or Need for Speed, because in my opinion, that's what they're good for.

Well, you may think differently, but this is for me.

  • Agree 100%, todays games are so silly (poin to point) nothing additional at all, only graphics. SS2 game is with the most ingredients i have ever seen, one other interesting game is Duke Nukem 3D, it's very old, but funny, you can actually destroy there anything you like, in SS2 you can pick up anything you like, and now - everything is like a stone in any new game - no more creativity, programming is too expencive...

  • how does it "suffer" from bad graphics, all that matters is gameplay, the old graphics actually make it more scary

  • Stop.................watching..........YAHTZEE!

  • I played as the guy with telekinetic powers, and I hid from most monsters using invisibility powers!

  • I don't think it's fair to compare System Shock and BioShock, they're both decent titles with their own feel and atmosphere. Sure, there's many similarities, such as being betrayed by someone you thought was on your side, i.e. Polito/SHODAN, Atlas/Fontaine. But I don't prefer one over the other. SS2 is more scarier, more tense and in-depth, while BioShock has a certain charm to it. Both have a rich atmosphere too.

  • @xxpepperxx I guess Miley Cyrus is popular for a reason...

  • @TheNickhis duhhhh she can sing and act..and every guy from the age of 13-63 would fuck her

  • this must be the scariest game in the world o.o''

  • I just realized how funny it is for a 22nd century starship to have a film based projection system in its theater.

  • old graphic, urgh.. Everybody that owns this games knows they have to download SHTUP Mod & The Rebirth. And since EA is gonna develop SS3 i have the lowest expectation..if its ever being made that will say.

  • Guys, System Shock and Bioshock are both awesome. And they are both pretty far from the same. I mean, System Shock is in Space, and Bioshock is under the sea. Not to mention it takes place in 1960.

  • I didn't think the gfx were that bad, even in its day. To compare, PSOne gfx were the norm on consoles, and Half-Life was released around the same time which used a Quake 1 engine. So they weren't that bad. This game gets an unfair rap in that department, only because it's being played now in 08. Kinda like B&W movies ha ha. At least it has "3D acceleration" :)

  • Some games that are older you can just totally look past their lame graphics because they're still easy to look at, while others just make your eyes bleed.

  • Wow people will fight over anything now-aday no?

Really guys, I have seen alot of people compare 2 titles from different Developers, but never FROM THE SAME EXACT DEVELOPER!

Cant we agree that both BioShock and System Shock 2 are fabulous games?

  • Suffers from old graphics? I prefer these kinda graphics, most games these days are too busy making themselves look good to actually work on anything else and end up being shit. The late 90's was the best, with things like quake 2, half life and of course system shock itself with no trace of shallow pieces of shit like the kind we see today.

  • that's so true.. i grew up with vga. man that rocked!

  • fuck yes, old graphics are fucking awesome

  • Oh I love System Shock 2 as it is, but I reckon showing this to a generation that's used to realistic rendering in their games, this might slap them in the face. Realistic graphics might help this, but anyone with a good imagination let the graphics fill them in themselves, making it way more scarier then the developers intended to. See Silent Hill 1 for an example. :D

  • Man, games are very good at producing emotions of FEAR. This game worked well at scary the crap out me.

  • ?

Half Life pretty much ecclipsed everything, it was new, bold, exciting and really durable (with an awesome multiplayer)

It was also a heck lot more accessible than System Shock 2 tho. All you needed to do is a point a gun, shoot, and enjoy the incredible ride. SS2 required a bit more...work, which appalled more then a few people. You won't see games anymore where you actually needed to organize your different ammo and had to unload as an actual action. Broken weapons? Not even thinkable now.

  • Half Life was a different kind of game though - SS2 is a first person RPG, compared to the cerebral and cinematic but essentially straightforward FPS of HL. Closest things I can think of to compare would be Morrowind and one of the (non-tournament) Unreal games, or maybe Doom 3.

  • Your comment is the worst PIECE of shit ever made, I hope YOU burn in hell.

  • Way more things in SS2 you ignorant bastard...

  • System Shock 2 was rated "Game of the Year" when it came out, ya know. Did BioShock get that honor? No. Sure, it got overwhelmingly good ratings, but it wasn't giving that title.

  • Bioshock is essentially System Shock 2 dumbed down for the console-tards.

    The Psi-powers are now plasmids

Psy hypos are now automatic and come every 5 feet

Reconstruction Devices are now Vita-Chambers and also come every 5 feet.

    No punishment for dying

    Maintennance droids are now Big-Daddies

and the wrench is now... a WRENCH!!!

    Bioshock <= System Shock 2

  • Nice yatzee copy

  • Thanks, I try to do my best. But Yatzee never said anything about Maintennance droids

  • Yeah that was essentially ripped from Yahtzee.

You missed the whole: "The main villain might as well be Shodan with a waste coat and a copy of Atlas Shrugged" though.

  • It was game of the year 2006, yea. But System Shock 2 is one of the greatest games ever made, and the best FPS/RPG combination IMO.

  • Um, BioShock was released on August 21, 2007. It couldn't possibly have been crowned Game of the Year 2006 if it wasn't even released then.

  • Without System Shock, u'd have no BioShock, so shut your mouth you moron. You have 0 knowledge when it comes to video game history.

  • hello?

    "!!!EXPLODE!!!"

  • Woah, that "hello" in the beginning actually scared me!

  • every moment of that game is designed to frighten the player.

    EVERY MOMENT.

  • To bad I don't have this game, would have been fun to play...

  • download it

  • Is it free?

  • If you pirate it, it certainly is.

    Find a torrent.

  • Lol

  • Why didn't you have a wrench to smash glass? They're useful for dealing with turrets - deactivate security, whittle their health down, then 1 bullet to the noggin. Or even hack them. Make them work for you!

Make more use of implants - swap in the LabAssistant one when hacking, raise your success rate.

  • Haha. Tis is a while ago..but yeah, I think i did a different build then Marine and for some reason I had no wrench, jeez. Yeah, Labassistant is great but I didn't find one yet.

You know your way around SS2, you got some cool movies too? :D

  • if you attacked at turret it would explode and damage your health.

  • this is a great game saddly my copy got broken by younger brother ; ;

  • they should make a third 1 this is not creepy for me cuz of graphics but very good for old game if they would make a 3 for ps3 and xbox 360 omg

  • Downlaod the mods, and you'll see how realistic it looks.

BTW, Bioshock is the (spiritual) sequel.

  • Which mod do you recommend?

  • System Shock 2 Reborn

And there is a Graphics MOD, dont remember the name, sorry.

  • The graphics patch is called SHTUP. shock texture upgrade. Its all over the place.

  • theres one called REBIRTH which helps a lot

  • there actually has been talk about a system shock 3, check out the wikipedia article for ss2

  • I just got myself a legal copy.

I am now a member of the elite club that has not illegally downloaded it.

  • Id buy it if i could finds it anywhere

  • if you cant find it anywhere, you could always just download it from piratebay, mininova, etc.

  • I find the Navy path is the most versatile of the three careers. It's pretty convenient to have hack skills from the get-go, and being able to start with +2 Standard Weapons skill as well makes the Navy path more worthwhile.

  • lol "Hello?" BOOM!

  • Meh, I preferred being a Marine or a Psychic

  • I miss the hacking in the original system shock. You actually had to go into cyberspace and fight constructs with software (like Neuromancer).

  • Yeah I remember that; it would've been cool if SS2 had something similar.

  • I love how any decent player in ss2 has to unload the 1 slug in the chamber of dropped shotgun. No fps-gamer will understand!

  • Hehe, so I'm not the only one ;)

  • I always did it, too.

Ammo is at a premium. XD

  • I think it's only shortcoming is constantly generated enemies.

  • I really don't think its that big of a deal. It can get annoying, but it also keeps you on the edge even though you've cleared the level before

  • Don't get me wrong, I was and still am in love with this game, along with Deus Ex and Planescape torment. I believe them to be the best RPGs ever, if not the best GAMES ever full stop. So, yeah, PC Fanboy :P

Also, shame I can't get the movies to work in this :S Can anyone help?

  • Download the FROSTY release from any torrent site. I had the same problem, but in that one they fixed the movies. Anyway, there are only two cutscences, so you can just watch the beginning and end on youtube if you dont feel like downloading it

  • What site?

  • any torrent site will have it, i prefer thepiratebay(dot)com

  • "Hello?" BOOOM.

    I LOL'd real goood.

  • I love this game. I remember I found a safe spot in some kind of depot, with killer robots down stairs all around. I remember it took a lot of courage to leave my safe spot :<

  • this game looks pretty complicated.

  • Thats one of it's strong points.

  • You get the hang of it pretty fast. And then you'll love the complexity.

  • wth, did bioshock just copy this game?

  • Bioshock was a spiritual follow up to this game.

Since console gamers wouldn't even know this it's still a new game.

PC gamers were either impressed by the graphics or felt jacked.

  • ... or were too impressed by the outstanding writing, atmosphere, art design and gameplay to care.

  • Yeah, that too.

  • Wish I bought this.

  • There's still the magic of the internets to get this great game. :D

  • I'm still trying to get System Shock 2 to work on Windows XP!

  • Same here, it's a bit tricky.

Specially the cut scenes won't work.

But I definitely want to play this game once again...

  • Finally got it to work and I got the movies to work too. Good times.

  • Thanks and have fun!

    It's such a great game...

  • Aw, DAMN IT!! Now I have to re-install SS2, again!! hihihihi.. =^^= You know, "I love this game!" should've been for SS2, not NBA..

  • SS2 was better thwen Bioshock. Sure bioshock had newer graphics, but now way was it even close to being as much fun as SS2... And SS2 scared me more then once, Bioshock only did at the begining-

  • Man... the good oldness of old graphics... they are warm and they look all smooth... sometimes I like more old graphics than new due to that smoothness.

P.S: Never played System Shock 2, nor Bioshock, although this video made me feel like I want to play SS2 haha, reminds me Deus Ex.

  • I heard System Shock 2 inspired Deus Ex in places.

  • "Hello!" BOOM!

    hahaha, awesome xD

  • System Shock 3 is coming out, but it's being made by EA, so chances are, it's going to be bad.

    :(

  • LOL! That replicator in the theater was an asshole.

  • Yeah, no shit! I thought the same thing :P

Every time you waste nanites, thats a med hypo you can't buy to save your ass...

  • dont we just love this game?

  • I would be a nervous wreck on this game :S

  • Yeah, the similarities are striking. Bioshock is not as revolutionary as I thought it was.

  • Bioshock is essentially System Shock 3. It's made by the same developers, and has a similar method of charactergrowth. If this game didn't exist, then there would be no Bioshock. That's as obvious as your statement.

Kinda sad that this kind of game gets recognition finally because of hot sexy graphics and simplification of gameplay. System Shock 2 didn't get as much love, while being incredibly similar to Bioshock.

  • this game doesnt seem that scary but ive wanted to try it ever since ive heard of bioshock and systemshock

  • The Deus Ex of survival horror. =)

  • hey, dude. whenever i hear that Trillian noise, I always check my trillian! I HATE YOU! :P

  • =D Hello? *BOOM* Great timing, and this game points out... Movie Concessions are way over-priced. :)

  • Exellent game, always worths playing it again.

  • LOL at 0:23;

    "hello." *BLAM!!*

  • Ha ha, I jumped at that part.

  • me too

  • anyone over the age of 70 can not play this!!!!

  • Probably not, as they wouldn't survive that long to learn the dubious interface.

  • Actually if you saw that one grandma who was playing Resistance for the Ps3, I think she would stand a chance.

  • Gr8!!
