  • it may be illegal but i thin its cool

  • that is so cool

  • i think it is legal

  • thats so cool

  • looks like your wearing a helmet

  • If life or propert loss is probable you can use any radio freq. available to report the incident. In michigan as a ham radio operator I can legally monitor police, fire, and ems traffic in my vehicle while driving. I carry a copy of the law allowing me to do this should I every get questioned by law enforcement. In michigan it is illegal to monitor public service calls in your vehicle if you don't have written permission from the chief law enforcement officer in your county.

  • Its legal.

  • how is this not legal. i use a police scanner at home and in my car

  • btw in any country that has encrypted signals it illegal to listen in.

  • As for Uk Police being pussy because Some of us dont carry a fire arm?? A bit of a stupid statement. We pride our self's on dealing with shit bags with our mouths or with UDT. We have ARV on shift t all times. GUNs are for pussy who wont go toe to toe with a guy with a knife my friend.

  • lol I never said CB can pick up police radio, its an option on our units if the system goes down cloth ears.

I would edge my bets you are 13 years old and watch fireman sam all day, someone who says he has a PI radio downloads an app to listen to whilst he is off duty?? lmao yeah ok because all I

  • Here inthe uk actually live in the new millenium and have ,by the sounds of it a far more advanced encrypted airwave, its mobile phone tech and its illegal to listen to it unless you have signed a data protection act doc and work for the police., in the states.....yo guys prob still use CB radios...which our can do also if our signal is low..

  • @lcewoif1978 CB radios cannot pick up police channels you stupid fuck, CB radios are used for public communication. I use motorola VHF radios for firefighting and it literally is in sync with this app. You are probably just some ham whacker who sits in his room trying to listen to emergency personnel, well guess what fool, I am emergency personnel

  • lol in the uk police transmission is illegal to monitor , it has been protected under the data protection act, you hear people address etc ....that app is not live, its pre recorded. TETRA for the dumb fucks out there is what most police forces now use ,it can not be monitored because criminals used to scan the channels and know when the old bill was coming...

  • Perfectly Legal. Police transmissions are a form of public records.

  • i deleted this app da SECOND i thot about it being illegal. im 11 and im very terrified

  • best app ever

  • LOL t he app is fake, tetra can not be hacked or scanned.

  • @lcewoif1978 This app is not fake "LOL" you idiot. Clearly you are not a member of police/fire/ems otherwise you would know better to not make a fool of yourself. I can listen to my fire pager and this app at the same time, and I get the same dispatch and chatter on both, although the app has about a 5 second delay. Never heard of tetra sounds like a popular 70's arcade game to me

  • @TheBeefkid <<UK POLICe so wind your neck in, you poor child. lmoa its real recordings just not live ,month old i would say.

  • @lcewoif1978 I am a firefighter you fucking dunce, and I have radio equipment issued by the fire service, this app is not pre-recorded as I said before, but obviously you didnt pick up on it because your head is too far up your british ass. I can listen to dispatch on my motorola minitor pager that is used to dispatch me to fire alarms and listen to this app simultaneously and it matches up, so how is that pre-recorded? Nobody gives a fuck about pussy UK police who dont even carry firearms

  • I'm gonna get the cyber police right on it. They'll back trace the app. In fact I'm gonna call the state police as well. They're a bunch of lying no good punks. I just hope they don't screw with my computer again. End of conversation!!!

  • dude you look like my cousin daniel lmao

  • Are you serious, police scanners have been around for at least 30 YEARS. Did you just arrive yesterday?

  • i am gona tell my dad he is a police

  • @shahida963 you do that.. not much thay can do ..

  • scanner codes are on the apps are not accurate, police 10 codes are not all universal. codes like 10-4 is universal. like someone else said here its different from everywhere

  • this app works for criminals

  • it is perfectly legal to listen to police transmissions but it is illegal to transmit to police(talk to the police)

  • @snowingsniper you sure? i heard you can get raped ...

  • Have you ever heard of a scanner??

  • Its totally legal and the 10 codes are fake they vary from town to town

  • So before Iphone/Ipod we had something called a scanner. So we could hear Police/Fire/EMS. We could even scan Airport Traffic Control Towers...TV station audio between station and broadcast tower. I love how these young kids only know things because apple makes an app. Heck look on the Windows Media Streams.....all kinds of Police band....been available for years!!!!

  • Its Real and its not illegal..ever hear of a scanner? same thing as that and scanners are open to the public. Its police responsibilty to use trunking frequencies that this app will not pick up and alot of police are starting to use that. Also police will not broadcast certain things over these frequencies they have other truncated frequencies to do that

  • @TheBeefkid Police now use tetra, it can NOT be scanned or hacked. the app is pre recorded data

  • @lcewoif1978 it is not pre-recorded "data" you dunce. Ive never heard of this "tetra" either, however I know that many police now have encrypted and truncated frequencies which may be what your talking about?. Many local law enforcement cannot afford to upgrade to encrypted or truncated frequencies as these would require all new radio, transmitting and dispatching equipment. Also many big cities will use a specific frequencies for high risk situations so that will not get picked up by this app.

  • It's fake.

  • @Bruce1949919 your an idiot its not fake

  • @TheBeefkid Verify it then talk to me.

  • @Bruce1949919 heres your verification,I am a firefighter and emt and not only do I have a scanner that I programmed I also have pagers and a VHF radio programmed by my county dispatch. The same thing I am hearing over my legitimate fire/ems dispatch is what I hear over this App, however it is a little delayed on the app as it has to be relayed over the internet. So next time Bruce, you should watch who you are a smartass to on the internet, and then come talk to me

  • @TheBeefkid Sometimes these app makers get a bit overzealous and push something that isn't completely on the level. There are sites on the internet that have recorded police, file and aircraft transmissions. Thanks for verifying this the proper way. And it's not illegal.

  • ok. first off. it's perfectly legal . I'm a junior police officer in texas

The police departments have many different channels the only channels that are on these apps are the main dispatch channel . Just so ya know . You cant even pick them up on a real scanner like an actual handheld. The channels are encrypted. all you will hear is a static noise. Only main dispatch channels are on the apps

  • It's not illegal it's a scanner although I like scanners I just don't think the public should hear our every move because some burglar may be robbing a store and we get a call about it and he hears that we are on scene he's a got somebody waiting on him in a get away car he's gone in a flash because he has a scanner.

  • In most states you are allowed to own a police scanner in your home or on your person, but in some states you are not allowed to have them in your auto, Michigan used to be one of those states, though if you had a ham license or obtained a permit from the state of MI police communications department you could have it in your car, as for the app it is hard to say if it's legal or not as it is illegal to publish or rebroadcast any law enforcement communications..

  • oh and the audio in the app is off by about 5 - 10 minutes. so what you hear on this app was audio that was transmitted 10 minutes before.

  • of course its legal. you can buy police scanners anywhere.

  • The federal communications act of 1934 makes it legal to listen to anything broadcasted

over the airwaves yes it is legal

  • Omg, you are such a cocksucker. You are a retard, get off youtube.

  • Having a police radio is not illegal. However, in most states are you unallowed to walk around out side your home or to drive around with a police scanner. In some states there are exceptions to those who can leave their home with one. In indiana, for instance, if you are a member of the media, emergency workers, or ham radio operators, you can have a scanner in your car. if not, you can be fined and have your scanner taken from you.

  • WOW MAN REALLY OF COARSE ITS LEGAL, AND DONT BLOW IT FOR PEOPLE THAT PAID FOR IT.. YOUR A TROUBLEMAKER

  • A bit less soda pop prior to 8:00am ,It is legal to listen to any transmission any time in the privacy of your home...with these types of apps it is slightly delayed...!0-codes are open to the public.

I personally have 10 scanners and am able to listen to anything this app does and more...Bottom line...LEGAL.

  • Hey bro... it's not illegal. Read some law first.

  • en (dot) wikipedia (dot) org/wiki/Police_radio#United_States

  • Get a dam hear cut its afecting your brain i live in the uk were it is ilegal to listen to the police but i know its legal in most us stated to listen to police fire ect they openly publish on line frequencys to monitor get a hair cut Fool

  • ur a MORON!!! Of course it's REAL!! Wow America's future!

  • ur a MORON!!!

  • ur not too bright. get out of your bubble. scanners have been around for decades

  • it a scanner'

    ]

  • It's not illegal you idiot.

  • Radio Waves that come into your home belong to YOU, not the sender. Perfectly legal to listen on any radio band.

  • @AaronOnRails I'd agree. You may find that it's 'illegal' to act on the information, maybe?

  • Great I've searched the entire app store and I can't find it ANYWHERE any ideas?? Please respond any body

  • Have you never heard of a radio scanner? It is completely legal, unless you are using it while committing a crime. I have one sitting right here at my computer desk. You look like somewhat of a "nerd" (no offense I'm a huge nerd), and I would have thought you've been to a few Radioshacks before. They have an entire display shelf full of scanners. You can buy your own for less than $100, and scan your local area.

  • Facepalming now....

  • FAKE

  • @TheOlemissfan10 not fake! there are apps for scanners out there. I had one on my blackberry for the longest time.

  • Fast Forward 2 years This is very LEGAL. Your tax dollars pay the police who protect you. It is only ILLEGAL if you are using it while commiting a crime. If the police find you with a scanner on or around you after you commit a crime it is something that can be added to the list of charges against you. Otherwise you have a right to know what is going on in your community. Also don't be stupid enough to get a real police scanner and try to talk over the frequency.

  • hay stupid the police brodcat it over the internet thats like if you buy a polikce radio and use the scanner code to talk tothem it wont work since thay use a diferent receveand transmit frequence. ita all legel

  • It's legal and it's real.

  • i'm radio amateur, and it is rael, it's live, and not illegal at all, actually the app is based on some online programs, and since police, fire departments and some amateur repeaters are linked to the web and some command center radios are actually computer, you can scan online, but i not illegal at all unless you transmit, sometimes, the conversations are recorded for security reasons, so they are not live at all. amateurs we usually use real radios and set them to the same frequencies

  • @iNf3rNuSdI4bLuS1 Agreed! I am a ham located in SoCal and LAPD while it is a digital P25 system and must be scanned with a more pricey scanner..this activity is very legal. Here in LA alot of people who are into the hobby know very well that the activity is legal. However if I understand correctly there is the case whereby if a scanner or item such as this is used to facilitate criminal activities and can be proven you can be held liable for that. There are websites where you can listen as well.

  • Duhh, I dont need need a fancy phone to listen to frequencies. I have a county portable that actually works. GET OFF YOUTUBE AND GET A LIFE!

  • dumbass...

  • Why would it be illegal to use if a reputable company makes the app? Radar and Laser detectors are made by very reputable companies (including some who make radar guns), but some states have passed laws that it illegal to have them in vehicles. I believe Virginia is one. It is what is called malum in se (wrong in itself) vs malum prohibitum (wrong because it is prohibited). As American Citizens, it is not fundamentally wrong to have the iPhone scanner apps, but might be wrong due to the law.

  • I do want to point out that "some" police take listening to their conversations, e.g. radio traffic very seriously. I love my home state of Kentucky, but we have a strict law, and mobile scanners are supposed to be destroyed. Home use is fine, as are exemptions noted in KRS 432.570. Also refer to radioreference . com and search scanner laws. It will give you an extensive list of state and local laws.

  • Just tryin' to offer fact vs. fiction. Don't want to see anybody get in trouble by accident. Unfortunately, as police and judges say, ignorance of the law is not an excuse. I don't mean that as an insult to anybody. Each state has different laws, and municipalities vary in their ordinances. Knowing your local laws can prevent a hefty fine, and possibly losing a radio, scanner or phone (phones are 2-way transmissions). Some states take such things to extreme.

  • Why would it not be legal to listen in to our public servants at work? Unless we, American citizens, are guilty until proven innocent...but this dude doesn't seem to take that approach.

  • if it was illegal why would such a high reputable company i.e. itunes sell it :/

  • My question would be, even if it is legal to download. and I think it is...but is it legal to have the scanner on while in your vehicle. Our state law make's it illegal to carry a police scanner when you are in any vehicle, so I would check your state law to be sure, the cops here will take your scanner if you are caught with one while operating a motor vehicle. And by the way this app. is FREE on Verizon MKT. as I do have it too.

  • I am not trying to hog the conversation, but help you understand the legality. In my 30 year career, I have worked for a county police department, a fire department, as well as state and county correctional agencies. Sanner codes are not consistent. FEMA suggested "strongly" that agencies cease 10-code use after Katrina. My county doesn't use them anymore, with a few references from habit. But, I put the local freqs in my ham radio when I go places out of town. It's fun to listen to events.

  • @steveinkentucky Very well said Steve.

  • Police radio is not public record per se. Some states have no scanner laws, while others have very strict states. I am a ham radio operator. Ky has an exemption for us. The FCC has a written opinion that ham radios can have out of band receive, and that federal opinion supercedes state and local law. Scanner possession varies by state and city. Don't take a few comments to have statutory merit. It won't do you much good when your scanner is seized and you pay a fine of at least $150.

  • The app is legal to download. Whether it is legal to possess on the phone depends on local/state laws. My state of Kentucky has a statute against having any type of radio that would receive police transmissions. Exemptions apply for several types--prosecutors, wreckers, news, other public safety with written permission. As for the police scanner codes, they vary greatly by department. Just check your local laws. By a former LEO.

  • Why are some of you people hating on him? He's a living human being just like the rest of us. All he was doing was sharing his opinion on how he feels about the Police Radio App. The Police Radio App is legal. I talked to my county sheriff about it. It is legal. It would be shut down by now if it was an illegal stream. All the people who aren't hating on this guy, your good.

  • Seriously dude? Why would this be illegal? Public airwaves + my tax dollars at work = I can listen to the cops. You must have led a sheltered life and probably think only law enforcement should have guns too. Understand and stand up for your rights before people like you let them be taken away without a question.

  • and the "Scanner Codes" are called "10-Codes", which will be deemed obsolete in the next 2 years.

  • I can go to walmart, pay $120 and walk out with a Scanner, it's legal.......

  • Oh yea and there's Internet sites that host live feeds also. Those apps just link up to those sites

  • Hey buddy, yes it's real, I've taken ride alongs and listened to the real radio they have in the car, and compared to the one on my iPhone. It's about a 5 second delay between the two. I was listening in once and was able to actually make it to a scene of a robbery in my personal vehicle before the first officer even arrived lol.. About the legality, there was some law passed in 2006 or so stating that police radio traffic is public record. The public is allowed to listen in to see what the pol

  • Wow. Your officially a 10-101!

    Which means dumbass.

  • its not illegal

  • If this is illegal then why the fuck is it on iTunes retardo duh apple checks every app.

  • This little dweeb needs a life...BADLY

  • Its ILEGAL you can go to jail for that

  • @2014SuperPrince No, it isn't. Go tell that to the guys at your local Radio Shack and see what they say. They sell LEGAL scanners ALL THE TIME! Where do you get your information? The reality is, the people that run the feeds in the app mentioned on the video are basically taking a normal scanner and hooking it up to their computer via the audio-out, then setting up a live feed online.

  • Comment removed

  • NOT ILEGAL BUT COOL

  • Why would that be illegal? You can pick up a scanner at RadioShack and get the frequencies on many different websites.

  • you are dumb. they sell police scanners at the store... dumb ass

  • Nice beard. Some day you will even have hair on your face!

  • the reason it is legal is because you dont talk on it.

  • I had one that let me listen to a police radio in Tokyo.... Why did I get rid of it? Oh yeah, Modern Combat 2...

  • ur dumb

  • Just search for state scanner laws. My state, Missouri, it's legal to use stationary, and mobile.

  • it is very legal. infact safe. if you here a po po go by at 80 mph with sirrens on you should prob. go to local police radio station

  • @hubbabubbas2 btw cool video

  • This is vary legal on the other hand if you go driving in you car listening to the scanner app you will be in trouble so i advise you not to do that. As far as the 10 code 10-4 10-98 10-8 so on knowing that is legal as well. The reason the police.sheriff, fire, ems use nextel two ways or cell phone aka PX is to transmit info to others that they do not want the public to hear.

  • @TheTreybell Scanners are just as legal in a car as they are in your home. Most officers don't really care. They should be able to have confidence that they are good enough at there jobs that they can do their job even if you can hear their radio transmissions.

  • Comment removed

  • HEY FUCKFACE. IT IS LEGAL TO LISTEN TO THE CONVERSATION. NOW SHUT TA FUCK UP FAGGOT.AHAHAHAHAHA STINKY ASS FAT ASS BITCH YOU FILTHY PIMPLE FACE MAGGOT!

  • @sourmanofcoal what a stupid comment really shows your level of intelligence which is obviously null

your mouth is filthy enough to use as toilet toilet mouth open wide and we can install a flusher on the side of your head I think I could also install a power assisted flush so all the crap and toilet paper doesn't get clogged going down your throat you will be better off as a human toilet than a human being

  • police frequencies are public and legal to listen too. also knowing the codes such as 10-4 are legal, they are listed online. most police officers now a days use cell phones to communicate confidential info that they do not want the public to know because so many people now have scanners. -- 5 years law enforcement

  • dude ur retarded. like all these people have said...scanners are legal so this is legal also. Police codes are easily attainable also...you can even get books on it.

  • @SpAzMaNiK Wrong. Scanners are legal in SOME states and ILLEGAL in other states. To legally monitor police traffic or other public service agencies radio traffic you'll have to become a public service figure or an amateur radio operator. You'll need to pass a Technician Element 2 class licensed issued by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission.) The test challenges your knowledge on FCC rules and regulations as well as basic knowledge of electronics.

  • @KD8NCL Ham radio and listening to a scanner a COMPLETELY different. In fact, a Technician License does not directly give you the right to listen to Public Safety radio frequencies. Here in Texas, it's perfectly legal. I own a scanner, and I happen to know that Balcones Heights officer 669 just stopped BV3S371 (license plate).

  • Comment removed

  • @longhornandsouthern What does Unit 669 stopping BF3S371 have to do with the price of tea in china? I know the different between a scanner and amateur radio. Iv been licensed for nearly 2 years now with a back ground in electronics and radio communications. Becoming licensed will grant you monitoring "rights" to public safety freqs, in most cases and especially if you are part of ARES/RACES. In my previous comment I forgot to mention (to legally monitor in SOME areas.)

  • in Indiana and other States it is legal if its in your home or business but illegal to carry on you or have it in your car, you can however get a permit from your local law as I have a permit after a background check that took 3 weeks mine in my car is a transceiver so check with your locals or Google it I have been pulled over here in IN. showed my papers and was good to go. I lived in CA. it is legal in that state....Thom

  • Yes, 100% absolutely legal! Just like a police scanner you can pick up at radio shack. As long as you cant transmit it is not illegal. I assure you NOT ILLEGAL! LOL!

  • Legal

  • Bud u r crazy...they sell scanners all day i got one myself which has ALL the states..got it right from radio shack..been pulled b4 and the cop knew i was listening to him..i keep it in the car all the time..they are def. Legal

  • They are not illegal--otherwise they wouldn't be selling scanners anymore.

  • I've got some sour news for you my man. LISTENING to a police radio is not illegal (hence why you don't get arrested for eavesdropping on police officer when he sits next to you in a restaurant). It is not an opinion, it is a fact that this is 100% LEGAL.

Anybody in the world can go online and listen to police transmission, hell i can go buy a scanner from fucking Radio Shack right now. You dont know what they are saying however because every county uses different signals and codes.

    FAIL.

  • can you get the Santa Monica P.D.

  • your face resembles an apple to me

  • @zerosix1786 hey,,,,hey apple...KNIFE!!!!!!!

  • Wouldn't Apple ban this application if it was illegal? I thought they have some sort of strict filter

  • ilegel and its cool i just got it :)

  • I wonder if there is an app for Acne and dodgy redneck under chin beards?

  • COCK AND BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL THIS GUYS ACTS LIKE HE FOUND GOLD!

  • Get out your fuckin house more fat boy...People been buying scanners for years.

  • One more thing....I would bet that 'police radio' app uses the feeds from Radio Reference.

  • It's perfectly legal in the United States to listen to public safety radio traffic, so long as it's not encrypted....and if you're able to hear it, then encryption is not being used. This same thing can be done on radio reference (dot com). They have police/fire scanner feeds from all over the place. It is only illegal if you use what you hear on the radio during the commission of a criminal act. I own several radios on which I monitor local fire and police. It is quite a fun hobby. Enjoy.

  • I agree with Northhigh19.Its legal get up, get out, and get some exercise.

  • i think it should be legal because cops can use it if there off duty and use it to see if there is any activity but i agree with you when you said the bad guys could listen to see if the cops are following them

  • Definitely legal... You can listen, but you can't talk obviously. All it is is it's a police scanner, and those are legal...

  • You can listen to scanner feeds. Technically the only law is whatever you hear you keep to yourself.

  • Legal in every way shape and form. Get some exercise. Fatty.

  • it's legal (freedom of info act)

  • can i listen to your scrotum broadcast on there? i'm so glad you did LAPD, cuz that's where I live. And that's so crazy the way cops go to streets. And that is sooo awesome that you can hear. That is just amazing. <- my thoughts

  • Wow. Your gay.

  • @DanielsSFD my gay?

  • @DanielsSFD And ur rude

  • @CupWave

    Your a 10-52 (dumbass)!

  • @DanielsSFD So im a breathing apparatus dumbass? hmm ok

  • @CupWave

    lol. :)

  • @DanielsSFD Wow, YOU'RE an idiot.

  • @buzman1985

Are you sure what you said was legal?

  • @DanielsSFD Very legal.

  • @buzman1985

Get off dial-up! It took you two weeks to respond back.

  • it is legal because most police officers know that there are many dumbasses out there (Such as Myself) that dont know their Numeric Codes such as 10-66 or 10-18.. and i dont have an iPhone/CB Radio Scanner app for iPhone but im DEFINITELY sure that, THAT app does NOT have all the Numeric Police Codes(Just the Basics Probably. Such as 10-4)

  • March 16, 2011...still top 5...still going :)

  • tu puta madre re gordo de mierda desgraciado americano pinche pendejo jajajaja es bromita zorrita xDDD xao re gordo de mierda!!

  • It's useful if you're in public safety. Police fire ems.

  • @Generallee729 no it not... if your in public safety a radio would be useful not a sh*tty iPhone app

  • This app, is so awesome. But I still wonder how the ipod touch/iphone can LIVE radio chat. It is legal. If it wasnt, apple would be in big doodoo. Today I was listing to san diego fire dept/emergency, and i heard people who had breathing probs, busted nose, chest pains, hurt back from fall. Its crazy how many people get hurt within 5 mins.

  • Its most definitely legal, I promise. Why do you think you can buy police scanners from radio shack?Yes it's real! Police know about it.

  • Its most definitely legal why do you think you can buy police scanners from radio shack?Yes it's real!

  • Checkit out now! the funk sol brother. hehe

  • this shits real i was at my friends house and there was a report made down the street and sure enough the pigs were there lol

  • the only thing that is illegal is using a police scanner in the commission of a crime, you need to get out more.

  • It's not illegal at all, and it is real. Citizens Of the USA have the right to listen in onto Police Scanners. Just like Police have to send out a weekly Police Log to the newspaper. It won't get taken down simply because it is completely legal.

  • if it made it to the App store its legal

  • if it is legal it proves how stupid the Americans are, any criminal can listen to this and get info of it but i know for sure it is illegal to listen in to any of the UK's emergency services
