  • beautiful routine! they way that she is able to keep her legs together is flawless!

  • SHE'S AMAZING....I probably couldn't even hold on to the bar for more than 2 seconds! xD

  • amazing...that is all i can say!!!

  • she was under scored... FOR SURE!!!

  • @kgurlforever she doesnt have a very high start value (difficulty) so even if she has almost perfect form, she wont get a 16 or 17 like nastia

  • @slp1964 that doesn't matter depeneding on how well they preform that day shawn has beat nastia times

  • The mere fact that ALL gymnasts can keep the momentum? it's not as if there's something pushing you! it's you ! that's why they do casts onto handstand! O_O

  • love shawn johnson

  • Obviously uneven bars are not her strength (but she's still good). On the beam for example, she takes more risks (the difficulty level is higher) and it always makes a difference!

    :)

  • Shawn's great on beam, vault and floor but I don't enjoy watching her here. She does her releases with little amplitude compared to better bar workers, and doesn't have as intricate pirouettes. Everyone goes on about the dismount, but it doesn't make the rest of the routine good. Don't get me wrong 'cause I love Shawn, she's my favourite American gymnast, but I'm just pointing out that there are reasons this is her worst event.

  • @bernardmvella Seriously? Her releases are textbook perfect! And with her new Weiler + Weiler 1/2, and her toe-on 1/1, she has some hard pirouettes.

  • Her worst is my BEST like no kidding... i love u shawn!!!<3

  • and bars is her worst event...

  • la

  • An amazing performance from an amazing gymnast! How old is she?

  • It looks so easy to do, when she do it..

  • i love u shawn

  • @SkateNater Um, a Pak and a bail are both D-level skills. "Actual giants" are lower-level skills than free hips and toe-ons. Shawn's bar routines may not have the higher-level pirouettes of many gymnasts, but her form is nearly impeccable.

  • her legs are glued!!! really cool dismount

  • i hate the skill she does at :13 --- :15

  • Well well well ..... She doesnt know how to do a full turn yet??

  • @djsquirrels5004 If you bothered to read on further, I was responding to an argument. Further, it's common knowledge that bars is not Shawn's strong event. I never said anything negative about her, in fact I said that she's ALWAYS solid on bars. Thirdly, I never said I could do any of it. I have a knowledge & understanding of the sport, whether or not I can perform it.

Either read the entire discussion to understand context, or mind your own business.

  • @RachelB887 um exuse me but youre the one going on and on about thats shawns worst event when she's good at everything ... i would expect you to understand since you think ur so smart and think you know the first thing about gymnastics when im a level 9 gymnast.

  • Perfection, grace, joy, in every gesture. God bless you and your team mates, Shawn! (Oh, and your coaches and parents too!)

  • @MaddieBee223 I completely disagree. I think that she is a very good dancer and really feels every movement. Not boring at all.

  • @daydreamer526

    LOL.

Oh ... wait ... you were serious?

  • I know this is Shawn's worst event, and many people will agree, but they had her compete on this apparatus in the 2008 Olympic Team Finals and Qualifications because they can count on her to hit!!! As she does in all her other events. :))

  • @uvahooful amen! so true!

  • over over overscored .

  • @mek11222 ur right she didnt need him but he did the right thing to stay there in case

  • This is some of the best bars I have ever seen her do

  • I dont think the coach will try to catch the girl, I think the main intend is to help break the fall. I have seen videos of when the gymnast fall and the coach would adjust their body so they fall flat down instead of landing on their neck or other awkward positions.

  • Even though this is her so called "worst event" a 15. 7 would have a been a huge score for someone else where as that was her lowest score of the night

  • Her legs are so straight and almost as if they were glued together!

  • Che un culo! Isn't she barely 18?

  • @battletoads22 she was 16 at the time of this video. now she is 17 or 18

  • While this is her worse event, she does it so well....

  • shawn johnson is competing in 2012 olympics

  • @tnao123- that would be her coach

  • @tnao123 the guy who came close to her was the coach

  • she makes it look so easy!

  • i think she is very solid on this event, contrary to popular belief. she's so clean, her form's great. obviously she doesn't have the difficulty of luikin, but her extensions and lines are so great, she doesnt give much for the judges to deduct.

  • @imaiyarules i know your comment was over a year old. but I completely agree; she gets over-looked for the fact that her form is almost perfect. It's hard to deduct her on anything on the uneven bars.

  • oh, this is so high quality. my eyes are in shock after watching such blurry videos.

  • I think it's a double twisting double

  • Why do the bars routines always seem so short? Also does anyone know the name of her dismount?

  • Although she's low on difficulty, Shawn probably had some of the best execution and form on bars of the quad.

  • @tnao123: That's her coach, lmfao.

  • shes amazing!

    just a question

what are you trying to score? i thought it was out of 10....

  • @gymnasticsgirl09 hi i'm just trying to answer the question, u see every gymnast has a start value on every event the value is based on the difficulty of the routine well i think on this one the value was like seventeeen or eighteen idrk whichever the judges give the gymnast a score based on how well they did say the start value was 18 they would take away deductions for watever they saw that was wrong and whatever was left over was her score, well i hope i answered ur questioon bye! :) :)

  • @iluvtlsomuch and this scoring system is only for elite national/international competitiion

  • @iluvtlsomuch i thought that they would have one score for difficulty like lets say 7.00. and that score wouldnt change. then they give her a score for exacution like 9.90 then they add them together- 16.9

  • amazinggggg !!!!!!! and in phillllllly. <3

  • That was beautiful and who was the guy that kept coming close to her and almost got hit

  • that guy with shawn johnson is her coach, he's been with her since she was really little, i think he was just making sure that if she fell she wouldn't break anything, like a safety net

  • @tnao123 that was her coach

  • @tnao123 the guy is her coach

  • @tnao123 that was her coach, he has to do that in case she falls, its the gymnastics rules

  • @tnao123

    Chow?

  • @tnao123 Her coach, who was spotting her....

  • @tnao123 That guy has to come up when she is doing harder stunts incase she falls he would catch her

  • @tnao123 he was spotting her, in case she fell

  • @tnao123 her spotter lol

  • @tnao123 Having a spotter would distract me so much. I know he's there for my safety, but I'd be worried about his!

  • @tnao123 It is beautiful and thats her coach, also her spotter. lol

  • @tnao123

the guy is the spotter. to make sure she wouldn't fall...

  • @tnao123 the spotter

  • @tnao123 He is her personal coach and former gymnast Liang Chow.

  • @tnao123 her coach, to catch her in case she falls.

  • @tnao123 Her coach

  • @tnao123

her coach! he was spoting her. making sure she didnt fall off the bar

  • @tnao123 her coach ?

  • @tnao123 ... you mean her coach?

  • @tnao123 That guy is her coach.

  • @tnao123 her spot in case she fell, or her coach.

  • @tnao123 her coach

  • @tnao123 Her coach..

  • @tnao123 that was her coach

  • @tnao123 He's a spotter in case she was to fall he would catch her

  • @tnao123 that is her coach who was there in case she fell.

  • @tnao123 ...her coach...

  • @tnao123 Probably a coach?

  • @tnao123 her coach he knows the routine so on all the possible places she could fall and hurt herself he is there to catch her

  • @tnao123 They make sure if the gymnast is about to fall they try to catch them.

  • @tnao123 her coach

  • @tnao123 Her coach

  • @tnao123 its her coach, when she did those flips he had to come close just incase she fell

  • That dismount is ridiculous. Amazing!

  • A solid routine!

Nastia clearly is stronger at bars,

but Shawn is still my favortie!

  • Speaking in difficulty and numbers, this is Shawns worst event. But, like the previous poster went on to say, her worst is another's best. She's always solid on bars, as she is pretty much everywhere else, but she doesn't have the inflated difficulty on bars that so-called "bar workers" have.

  • i wouldn't really say its her WORST event, just the event that she's least good at : )

  • @RachelB887 I'd like to see you do that. Even if that is one of her worst events she put her heart and soul into that routine and im 99 % sure that u would break ur neck trying that. So keep ur mouth shut

  • i hope one day i can do that :D

  • This is her worst event.

But Shawn's worst is another's best.

  • "This is her worst event."

Are you kidding? Shawn's a powerhouse on the uneven bars. Okay, she had a somewhat shakey landing once, but she's got the moves.

Bars and Beam are where Shawn's got the advantage. They've always been her strongest events.

  • awesome

  • my friend is obsessed she wants ppl to call her shawn, shawny, sj, shawn jonhson

  • umm thats a little weird

  • great routine shawn
