I like Bob Barr, but he is not my candidate. He is getting my vote, as nearly every Libertarian candidate does, but Ron Paul is my candidate. It really upsets me that Paul didn't support Barr, but it also upsets me that Paul isn't even a candidate.
Which brings me to this: Don't write in Ron Paul's name. You're wasting your vote. Vote for whoever else you like (preferably Barr), because voting Paul does nothing to further a third party or support Mccain/Obama.
I am thinking about voting for him esp. since I feel McCain is sure to lose. Someone needs to reign in this people! Or at least interject some dissent that is forceful.
Your vote for Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr is guaranteed to improve America's future! If he gets at least 5% of the popular vote in this year's election, his party's Presidential campaign in 2012 can receive millions of dollars in voluntary taxpayer funds. It will also automatically qualify to be on state ballots, thereby avoiding long and costly signature petition drives. So do the 'most patriotic good' with your vote, help America build a 3rd major political party!!!
Bob Barr was right. I have been against this bailout along with most of America. I have seen surveys that put the number at 70% of Americans that are against this and yet it passed! Americans unite! This November go to the polls and vote out those so called representatives that voted FOR this giant government corruption, lobbyist bonus, pork feedbag bill out of office. Send them home. Bob Barr 08!!!
Bob Barr is going to surprise many people this election. He understands our economic future perfectly. Go watch or read IOUSA and you will appreciate BOB BARR even more.
Bob Barr is 100% right and if you read his comments on the other major issues, he is also a stand up for the American people. I am a new Libertarian willing to change parties after 40 years of being a Republican. I like his Vice President choice also.
Bob Barr is pretty lame. He has always advocated a right wing Christian fundamentalist agenda. Like trying to ban certain religious practices from the military that weren't Christian.
Bob Barr had a real opportunity to promote the Libertarian Party this election and have their agenda pushed forward. Instead, one bad and selfish decision after another in his campaign on his part has caused his support to tank. Unfortunately, the Party is now going to have to wait 4 more years before they can attempt to make some real headway.
I appreciate everything Ron Paul has done for the cause of Liberty, but he did not want to continue the cause on the scale of a presidential campaign. Bob Barr wants to keep the movement going on large scale, so I'm not going to withhold my vote for liberty, because he hurt my feelings because he didn't go to Ron Paul's press conference. I don't blame him for not wanting to share Paul's endorsement with McKinney, Nader, and Baldwin. They don't represent the libery movement. Barr has my vote.
I am totally with you on that! I agree 100%! Most people are being immature babies about the tension between Bob Barr and Ron Paul. And yes, a libertarian did not belong in a press conference on the same side as those other candidates. Nader-social health care. McKinney-social health care, slave reparations. Baldwin-Christian-right conservative especially on social issues!
Besides, Bob Barr is on 46 state ballots. Baldwin is only on 35.

Your polls are going down Bob Barr and it is all your doing. It is useless to blame Ron paul for not exclusively endorsing you. What arrogance, Barr! Now you'll reap what you have sowed - next time, act diliginatly and don't snub Dr Paul cos you're not good enough for that, Barr.
He snubbed him when he failed to appear at the September 10 press conference in Washington - becasue Bob Barr did not want to share the pdoium with Nader, Baldwin and McKinney. he wanted a full endorsement from ron paul - now he gets nothing cos his poll figures went down to 1 - 3 % when he was reaching the 8% last June. Bad move, Bob barr - hope you've learnt something about humility.
And, hey, why not shave that moustache - you look like you're straight from the 1930s
Ron Paul was supporting candidates who do not support his own beliefs. Nader and McKinney support social health care. McKinney also supports slave reparations (you can read it on her campaign site). why the hell was Ron Paul showing support for candidates like this in the first place? i have to agree with Barr on this one. and then Chuck Baldwin is a Christian-right conservative and totally anti-libertarian on some social issues. at least barr represents libertarianism.
You got it wrong, Kras. Ron Paul is supporting the Third way - he's asked his supporters to choose from the thrid candidates. it was only after Barr's arrogance that Paul stated publicly that his personal support goes to Baldwin. It's his personal support. Baldwin may be too christian fuddy duddy for me too, but Barr? He looks like a mafioso to me, and sounds like one too.
I think Kras has it right. I appreciate what Paul is doing, but the message gets lost when he stands on stage and tells you to support any one of the four. Nader and McKinney are socialists and Baldwin is basically a Neocon on eveything but foreign policy, so I can see why Barr wouldn't share the stage with them. And he would look like a loser. And if you don't vote for Barr because he is arrogant or the way he looks and sounds, I hope you'll just stay home. I respect if you have other reasons.
I myself was and still am a Ron Paul supporter. That said, he is wrong for asking his supporters to choose amongst people who support socialized health care, slave reparations, and Pastor Baldwin who doesn't support leaving gay rights and abortion issues up to the states like Ron Paul did.
Is it REALLY Ron Paul's PERSONAL support that goes to Baldwin, or is he just angry at Barr? Are you aware Ron Paul encouraged Barr to run for President? Baldwin is only on 35 state ballots, Barr is on 46!
45 minutes before Paul's press conference on Sept. 10th Barr refused to come because he wanted a full endorsement of Ron Paul. On the same day he sent out a newsletter saying he asked Paul to be his VP. The next day in a newsletter he put Paul down for supporting the other candidates. Makes him seem like a big marketing scam IMHO.
Ron Paul was supporting candidates who do not support his own beliefs. Nader and McKinney support social health care. McKinney also supports slave reparations (you can read it on her campaign site). why the hell was Ron Paul showing support for candidates like this in the first place? i have to agree with Barr on this one. and then Chuck Baldwin is a Christian-right conservative and totally anti-libertarian on some social issues. at least barr represents libertarianism.
everybody is being a little immature baby about the whole snub thing. pay no attention to these childish people crying about barr not showing up to a meeting with people who do not represent Ron Paul's beliefs. i respect Barr more for not showing up to that meeting!
It's not the stock market that's the issue!! It's the credit market collapse that will destroy the economy. The simplistic idea put forth by these politicians (and Cavuto) that this is a bailout to the fat cats on wall street is not the real issue, when the credit market fails then the company you work for can't borrow money to expand or cover payroll - you lose your job. The people you want to sell your house to can't get a loan etc. - everybody loses!
Although I agree with Barr, specially with his very specific advice at the end, I'm confused: The market is at turmoil, we all know that big gvmnt. is responsible, BUT it would seem like a baillout is necessary to calm inverstors, if this apocaliptic mood continues there could be depression, god forbid the banking system crashes! Why not this bill and then follow Barr's ideas, right now privatizing wouldn't be enough. Any thoughts?
What we need is a return to sound money, and an end to the federal reserve - Thomas Jefferson said it best - If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks...will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
I agree, these are all real long-time solutions to ensure that this chaos will never happen again. And yet if we are to save the market from depression investors need inmediate solutions, certainly it's not a real solution but a quick fix. But after the stock market returns to normal there could be real progress, and not a moment before. I must say I'm in a paradox, no intervention is good, and yet the panic stopped for a moment when they announced that the bailout would procede no matter what.
I am a fairly hard core conservative. I am happy that the bail out bill failed this time. I hope all future attempts fail.
After McCain became the Republican nominee I started looking to see who is running third party. I don't agree with some of the things the Libertarian do, they are the only ones right now who fully understand the Constitution as it was intended.
The Dems are fascists. The Repubs, no longer the party that Reagan built, are also fascists.
Republicans were republicans far before Reagan. Reagan wasnt even a true fiscal conservative. Remember how much he expanded the DOD. I want true fiscal conservancy to return
He needs to fight more idealogically. The American people generally are libertarian; and the internet is helping us connect. WE need another Jefferson. He is a libertarian, we know hes got more :)
Spread the word, don't give up till November 4, we might even get him in office!
the bailout plan has failed now but unfortunately they will keep altering it and adding in more money for everyones little pet projects until it's passed. when you have republicans acting like liberals, the decocrats don't oppose it because it's a waste of money, they oppose it because it's not chalk full of the stuff they also want. Compromise in washington means adding what both parties want so we get double farked
yes. let these banks fail. they're obviously broke FOR A REASON. the only intervention I could see as useful, is ensuring their share of the market gets bought up by other american companies, and not by china. the market will rebound. traders sold today because of media-created panic. let the market fix itself. if you bail out these companies, they will continue to perform actions that threaten the entire marketplace. let more competent banks take their place.
Actually, I don't think the FDIC is allowed to transfer deposit accounts of failed banks to a foreign banking entity. It would have to be another US bank.
The sad reality is that a lot of Americans don't even care enough to look into third party candidates. Most people will just go with whoever they see on CNN of FoxNews. Or whoever gets labeled the token liberal or conservative.

Free market. Let this "crises" teach everyone a few lessons:
1. STAY OUT OF DEBT
2. Don't apply for a STUPID mortgage
3. Banks, don't give mortgages to those that do NOT! have 20% down payment and don't qualify for a 15 or 30 year fixed!
4. Investment banks, don't create/buy mortgage backed securities that are secured by mortgages other than 15 and 30 fixed with 20% down.
5. Banking regulators-DO YOUR FREAKIN' JOB
6.Politicians, REMOVE ALL SOCIAL ENGINEERING FROM THE TAX CODE
