I miss the old days when people used to cheer, scream and shout during award performances. Honestly, now it's like dead silence and an applause at the end. I think the performers now just don't ellicit the same excitement anymore...

This performance right here is why I was SO disappointed at her performance this year at the AMA's. I know everybody gets older (goodness knows I did), but when you give this electrifying a performance, and over the years, it just gets better, then you give out a weak one, it makes me wonder if maybe she should be doing other kinds of music. @bdiab im tired of hearing that too. if you really look at janet and mike's moves over the years, they are really very different. i like MJ, but his dance style didnt vary too much over the years, with updates here and there but basically the same basis and style for all dance moves. whereas janet experimented more and updated with the times more. she dances differently for every album era and incorporates new things each time

But aknowledging that it came from Chuck Berry's song doesn't take anything away from "Surfing USA" or the Beach Boys. Rock n Roll took something from the blues. Heavy Metal took something from Rock. And the chain goes on!!!! Giving credit to previous artists would be something Janet as an artist should respect.

Janet KILLED it. I was born in Aug '87 but I still bump my mother's control album and New Jack Seing. I recently came accross called in the heat of the moment by After 7. They have really inspired my music and wish that era could come back.

Yeah, Barry Lather is the choreographer for the is performance, the Grammy's she did in 1987 and The Pleasure Principle. Barry is and still is a bad dude. I was hoping that Janet would pair up with him for something off of DISCIPLINE or even Anthony Thomas(Rhythm Nation) I miss the dances from that era.

lolll i was 3 yrs old when she did this !! I'm 25 now and a pretty big fan. Weird eh? 22 years later ! Great choreography considering it's the late 80's. Wonder if Paula Abdul did it ?

I am so glad she did not insult the audience's intelligence by wearing some big obtrusive head mic...like some other female celebs when we know you are lip syncing just come on and out and get down...to me that is a lot more impressive and authentic! I wish Janet and Mariah would let the rap world handle hip hop and return back to what made them originally Iconic and reclaim their fan base we are truly waiting and we need what only they can give I mean at least I do!

" This same year 1987 for her standing ovation receiving performance of "what have you done for me lately" at the Grammy's . See for yourself . The difference being , I don't believe she lip synced.

i have this recorded on vhs.. i have over 200 vhs tapes full of good music.. yep these were the days when i would actually look at the grammys, ama, etc now i dont even bother with all that junk thats out there, a few groups still got it going on though

That was him! His 'video' modeling credits were endless! He also starred in the following videos: Pebbles' "Mercedes Boy", Atlantic Starr's "One Lover (At A Time)" and Janet's "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" video.. Among countless others! I saw him on an old 'Sally Jessie Raphael' episode after he had a sex-change operation, speaking of his promising career (as a male) which he could no longer permit. I heard he committed suicide shortly after. A great topic for the "Unsung" music series!

Janet KILLED it. I was born in Aug '87 but I still bump my mother's control album and New Jack Seing. I recently came accross called in the heat of the moment by After 7. They have really inspired my music and wish that era could come back.

I understand what you're saying. You shouldn't feel that way, though. I loved my generation's music, but I have sooooooooo much love and respect for those who came so many decades before them. I think it's wonderful that you do as well. Never let yourself be limited to what you currently hear and see. Always, always look back to the trailblazers. That's usually where most of the talent is.

I have been a Janet fan my entire life but I saw her in concert for the first time last night omg....as good as she is on tv her live performance is even greater she is so talented and has so much stage presence she was just AWESOME!! & beautiful & at 42 yrs old she doesn't miss a beat.

man, speaking of chills, i just got one, as if it were 1987, all over again...this was a main "event" in urban homes, all across the tri-state area and the most talked about performance in hs, back then; what a performance, especially the breakdown...kudos to janet... if janet were a man, she'd be michael! and, if mike were a woman, he'd be janet! i wish today's "entertainers" entertained and performed like this!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Barry Lather is the choreographer for the is performance, the Grammy's she did in 1987 and The Pleasure Principle. Barry is and still is a bad dude. I was hoping that Janet would pair up with him for something off of DISCIPLINE or even Anthony Thomas(Rhythm Nation) I miss the dances from that era.
