One other thing no one ever picks up on is how quick Hogan let his head move on the downswing and not keep it down. I think Larry Mize must have looked at Hogan a few times . If you watch Mize on the pratice ground you will see a lot of Hogan in that swing.
Hi "1ton" ...Such a privilege to see your excellent "Slo-Mo Catalog" of Mr. Hogan. It's "so good" I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. ...It would be very hard to find a better live demo what how a "One Piece Swing" repeats!. ..."Thanks so much" for the posting. ...DrDom
Hogan is overswinging a bit - but actually its because of the clubs that were used then, they needed to be swung a bit over the parallell to get the max out of the steel shafts
At 2:31 you can see how much he has pre-engaged or pre-set his pivot point which is the heel of his right foot. Thanks sevam1 for this important insight.
indeed, this has helped me tremendously. All things Hogan were to complicated for me but as explained by Sevam1 my sometimes slight over the top move has been eliminated when I started to focus on this aspect of the right foot.
One thing I never noticed about Ben's swing: he slides his back foot towards the target almost at impact. I always thought he had a wide stance and wondered how he got to a relaxed finish with his weight forward, which is difficult with a wide stance. Now I know. His stance width changes during the swing making it easier.
Thanks for posting.

You got it, Larry Mize is a Hogan aficionado.

Thank you for that i never knew good luck.

@arianbatty
Hogan said before, (loosely translated), that he doesn't see the ball at impact. I cringe when I hear people say to others, "keep your head down".

Hogan has an aggressive pivot motion through impact which he carries into his finish, which makes his right foot slide.

Amazing! To come back after breaking his legs and hit a ball like that? Man his back swing is unreal!

Beautiful composure. Golf's very own Fred Astaire.

I agree! In 1953 Hogan played in only 6 events and won five, three of them majors.

Can you tell who sings this?
SambaJB 2 years ago
The name of the song is called "Deep Purple," by Artie Shaw. I don't know who sings it though, maybe it's Emma.
