When we understand a pattern we have the power to predict, or "see the future" of an action. And when we face the unknow, in case, a change, we lost that power.

I think that really scares a lot o people.

Thanx alot for posting this documentery...It has really educated me in the "black metal sub-culture". I thought so much of it was really a gimmic (all the make-up and satanic themes)...but it seems like alot of these guys are pretty serious about their anti-Christian beleifs...They actually embrace self-worship to the extreme. (Satyr's comment about the burning churches was so indirect!)..its pretty crazy!!!....thanx again, very educational.

The only band in this documentary I truely respect,is Darkthrone. The "new" Mayhem should not be compared with the "true" Maymem. -It seems that a few years after Euronymous died, Maniac & Necrobutcher was eager to join the band again...-why did Euronymous select the line-up that was the band recording the "Mysteriis.."? -Maybe he considered Maniac & Necrobuther ,but realised that Grishnackh and Attilla was much more talented musicians? -Satyricon is not an "important" band ,neither is Dimmu.

Personally i think Swedish death metal is more recognizeable than Norwegian black emtal, cause everyone just tries to copy the old black metal bands. While Swedish death metal bands had really simillar sounds with the pedals, Amps, guitars, riffs and such.

Dimmus music would be a little thing called Symphonic black metal. That is the correct term. I personally think that the "Black" in symphonic black metal is tottaly wrong. I would call them symphonic metal.

Mayhem have used synths both on albums and live, actually right before that interview was made, on Grand Decleration of War ... I think Fenriz' explanation is quite good; darkthrone makes bread, but the others can make cake. Darkthrone are traditional, the others are fancy pancy. However they are all still making food.

it's true, dimmu borgir has changed from the symphonic black metal that used to sing in albums like "For All TId", "Stormblast" or "Enthrone Darkness" to a melodic extreme metal they sing in for example in their new album "In sorte Diaboli"... but we must admit that they are great, you know... their music has a great atmosphere!

I don't know if you noticed this or not, but Hellhammer IS black metal. Just about every kvlt band from Norway is one guy playing all the instruments, plus Hellhammer. He's sort of the Great BM Prostitute....The Whore of Babylon, if you will.
