  • I finally maxed out the score on this, and this video helped immensely. I was able to max out the score on the second loop before I reached the castle! A few more point pressing techniques in the first loop occur during the first stage, when you can use holy water on zombies. As you're exiting the second stage, right before you reach the final set of stairs you can leech medusa heads with the holy water. Finally zombies are plentiful in the grim reaper stage. I had over 650,000 after loop1

  • Yeah, I knew about the holy water, but I avoided it. Wasn't sure at the time how much I was allowed to use it for point pressing under Twin Galaxies anti-leeching rules. Oh well. :)

  • Can Alucard get by the skulls using his bat transformation to fly over them? I've never played this on the second loop so am just pondering some potential strategies. Also, what happens if you have a partner and then save the same partner on the second loop? Does it still give you the option of "taking him with you?"

  • I think that the skulls would probably hit Alucard if he tried to fly over them. I've never tried saving the same partner in the second loop. Sounds like I need to play this game again and find out! :)

  • nice run

  • ninja gaiden 3 was ridiculously hard too along with the first batman, which is by far the greatest batman game ever created for any single console in my opinion

  • i used to spend countless hours trying to get past those skulls....man that's how you did it??? ahhh!!! lol...

  • i can never get past those crazy flying skulls...ah man...memories of childhood frustrations

  • Arguably the toughest game ever, nice job Tom. I HATED the 2nd time through.

  • It's a lot easier to rack up points on the original Castlevania!

  • Indeed. Hardly anything is worth decent points in this game!

Imagine if the scoreboard on CV3 rolled over...I'm sincerely glad that it doesn't.

  • Technically the meat grab allowed you to break even... you could only take two hits before death before, and the same holds true after you collect it.

  • Just before the fish men, right? Not quite sure about that. After? the meat grab, I had 10 life bars left instead of the 12 I started with. Grant loses 5 life bars per hit, so having 12 would have allow me an extra hit.

  • I was not considering Grant and his sad defense... I was thinking of Simon and his four bars removed per hit.
