Actually, that's all there is to it. Sure, you could run an algorithm to better represent the sound while factoring in headphones, but the effect still works anyways.

A binaural head mic would work the best, though.

get 2 small mics, place em in your ears, go to a barber, let him/her cut your hir while you record the sound with the small mics, later work the sound with some comp programs.

@thedenmark1 It sounds like you simply haven't heard it with a good pair of stereo headphones. It simply wasn't meant for surround headphones - it was recorded with two microphones; it was meant to be heard from two speakers via a good pair of normal headphones.

@ZeraxiaRS You can't magically take binaural audio and distribute it correctly via surround. If you truly own them and think it sounds better in surround mode, the G35s probably have a terrible stereo sound stage and the emulated surround mode probably just sounds better by comparison. Surround headphones usually have a less-than-desirable stereo soundstage because of the way they have to be made for surround. Try this out with a pair of AudioTechnica AD700s and get back to me on your G35s.

This recording technique requires stereo headphones. If you use a surround sound headphone the effect is distorted.

I started hearing the churchbells ringing towards the end and thought it was a part of the video until it stopped and they still kept ringing. The background noises sounded so realistic in this recording like they'd come from outside so couldn't judge real-life background sounds from what was coming from the vid. ^^

first if my dad was wrong Holophonics wouldn't work and it would not have been used in albums such as the final cut by Pink Floyd and bad by Micheal Jackson among others.

second the idea behind binaural is the timing which a sound arrives at one ear then the next.(similar to triangulation) how ever if you cover one ear then you would not be able to determine spacialy where a sound is coming from. same with anything directly in front above or behind you. yet we can....

Holophonics is also not binaural, people mistake it as such because the microphone used to record Holophonics is similar in appearance to a binaural mic. but its internal workings are completely different. This recording was not done by Hugo Zuccarelli, so i dont know who made this.

Thank you so much for doing this...can I make what I hope is a constructive suggestion? Much lighter "snipping" sounds would be great, maybe a little brushing, maybe some gentle voices... In the Virtual Barbershop vid, they got really close to the ear and it just had that super tingly quality, but didn't last long enough...I've been pining for the perfect 3D haircut audio ever since! I know it can be done!
