Actually PayPuh VHS did really good for itself in my and many other peoples opinions. Also without the classical Betamax, We would most likely not even have VHS or DVD's which could of infact not ended up introducing the Blu-Ray

On paper, the PS3 is more powerful. In reality, its quite inferior to the 360. Without getting into too many details, the three general-purpose CPUs the xbox360 has are currently FAR better than the SPUs on the PS3. I suspect a few years down the road some high budget, first party PS3 exclusive titles will come out that really take advantage of the SPUs and do things the XBOX 360 cant, but I dont think the console is worth buying based on this speculation. I play Xbox.

Get into the details please? Because blaming a processor is sort of a bad arguing point. The PS3 has a 3.2 ghz cell processor, and the 360 has a 2.4 ghz processor. Having that said, the PS3 has more number crunching power than the 360.

And if I'm not mistaken, you can run a near fully functional linux on it. Don't believe a 360 has pulled that off yet, without using an exploit/game glitch.

I bought a 360 about a month ago and I wish I got a PS3 instead. I have had nothing but problems with this thing. It's ruined 2 of my games, the software crashes regularly, and Xbox Live is down at least a quarter of the time. If a developer took full advantage of the 40gig blu-ray disc size, it would be more amazing that anything the 360 could do.

Sadly, you are in the minority. Microsoft has a track record of releasing half finished products. I am willing to bet a most of the profits from the 360 went into reparing the darn things. I had to send an email to Microsoft.

I'd say go with the PS3. Technically issues aside, Microsoft will have to use blu-ray in their next console. That means no backwards compatibility since everything they have released is on DVD. Whenever you upgrade to PS4, you'll be able to play all the games you bought for the PS3.
