  • JULIE ANDREWS IS MY LIFE!!!

  • Amazing Julie ! You are the best (alongside Deanna Durbin) child singer ever !

    ~Anastasia Lee~

    (A. Johnson)

  • STUNNING. at first i thought it was an adult singing ._.

  • She had such a beautiful voice! ♥

  • <3<3 <3 <3

  • She was a wunderkind. For suuuure.

  • @ozviking It's even easier to sing this register when you're 15, voice tends to be a little looser at a younger age. Encourage your daughter to continue as an adult. I'm only 24, but sadly have lost a lot of my top register. Not THESE notes per say, true they used to be much easier than now, but many are missing from well, non use...Just if she values her voice, don't let her quit, it's a muscle and it'll get flabby if she doesn't exercise it ;) My biggest regret to this day.

  • aw she was my age

both her and her voice are sooo pretty! shes so talented

  • Such a marvelous talent and so sad now that she has lost her singing voice :-(

  • I am just amazed at the talent she showed at such a young age. I was in love with her and her voice in Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, My Darling Lilly, Arthur,Arthur, etc. etc.

  • She's awesome! What a voice she has! In my opinion, she's better than all the other singers that sing today.

  • @EliManningFan896 I thought so too, and I was very happy when I turned on my TV and saw a little girl named Jackie Evancho, who is around 10 (I think?) singing incredible operatic arias.

  • @emmadilemmasings Definitely! Everyone is blessed with an extraordinary talent. It can be from age 1 to whatever age someone maybe.

  • Hard to find voice as clear, powerful and, best of all that need of no artifices to make wonders one can only admire.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Can you please tell me what the clip at 1:09 is from, and where I can find it? Thanks.

  • oh goodness she's such a timeless beauty! AND HER VOICE! it sounds so beautifully mature, i can't believe she's only fifteen!

  • a 4 octive voice never sounded so amazing!

  • 46年前に「サウンドオブミュージック」見た時の感動がよみがえりました。

    彼女は少女のときからすばらしい歌手だったのですね。

    楽しい映像をありがとうございました。

  • I sang I have confidence when i was 11 its a great song.

  • She is amazing !

  • Julie is the most talented lady on earth. I mean really there is nothing she couldn't do and whatever she had done is perfect.....

    I just adore her <3

  • Woow... I really didn't know she was THIS talented, plus, she danced ballet..! I saw some good attitude pose..!! Awesome..!! :)

  • @Guadalupefan Yup! She danced ballet since she was about 4. She's a great dancer <3

  • Amazing singer then and now! And absolutely gorgeous person then and now!! She is the epitome of true singing talent and will always be one of my biggest inspirations!

  • My jaw just dropped. I knew she was a great singer, but that last note...I never heard her or anyone else sing this high before... and so flawlessly.

  • I get mesmerized by her every time I see and hear Julie's nightingale voice. At the same time I wish I could wring the neck of the surgeon who deprived her of the talented instrument in her throat. The malpractice was a terrible loss for all of us.

How could she have been reconciled with him?

  • Julie is fantastic!!!! Even @ 15 years. Know wonder why people like her so much.

  • Anyone knows what was Julie's highest note when she had a 4 octave range? I heard her high F when she was little, but I wonder if she still had such range when she was a grown woman.

  • i would really like to know who the person was who "disliked" this video........so i can punch them in the face (:

  • I honestly have trouble believing that she's 15 here. Her voice just...didn't change too much! It was already so mature by the time she reached this age!

  • I love Julie to death but honestly my first reaction was "HOLY SHIT!" She's so amazing... !

  • holy cheese and crackers!!!

  • Julie has REAL musical talent! =) Love her!! <33

  • This is what we call MUSICAL TALENT :)

  • Julie herself has talked about having had an adult larynx when an young girl. Her teacher taught her to sing this way, trilling every 'r', very old fashioned, but you can understand every word, a hallmark of her singing from then on. Deana Durbin also sang this way. What a great find this recording is. Julie's destiny, to sing show music, took her away from old fashioned ways, and the rest is history. A British songbird for the ages. To me, her Christmas music is her best, arranged by Previn.

  • @Alandix I love this style of singing, both Julie Andrews and Deana Durbin!

  • I swear, she must be a robot, no real person can be this perfect!

(also, love the pictures at 0:43 and 0:52)

  • hey you all.. julie can sing everything you think someone covered.... gilbert and sullivan type soprano

  • Who would have tried to dub as peerless a singer/actress as Julie Andrews? Of course she could have sung for another actress. Did Julie have any experience of dubbing for others in films?

  • Yes here voice had that range, there were comparisons made between her and Ruth Welting. I grew up with Ruth and remember that beautiful voice also.

  • Comment removed

  • @PatriceFitz Oh no no no...! Julie sung all the songs in The Sound of Music by herself! Marnie Nixon never sung for her. She did, however, sung for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. You must be confusing between the two :)

  • @MayaLoveJulie (: Its Marni Nixon... no "i". She dubbed for Audrey Hepburn (my favorite person in the entire universe <3), Deborah Kerr, Natalie Wood, and many others. She never dubbed Julie... Julie is SO talented. <3 Best soprano ever. However, Marni WAS in the movie. She played Sister Sophia. It was the first time her face had been shown in a movie.

I know this because West Side Story and My Fair Lady are my two favorite musicals. Ever. <3 :D

  • @MayaLoveJulie the word you are looking for is sang not sung and she didn't SUNG for Audrey Hepburn but maybe she did SING for Audrey Hepburn also that person is confusing the two NOT confusing 'between' the two .... wow your grammar sucks balls lady!

  • @alisonsdragonfly I seem to recall that in the film "My Fair Lady" Audrey Hepburn's singing was by Marnie Nixon, who too sang for Natalie Wood in "West Side Story."

  • @JudgeJulieLit Thank you but I really wouldn't know .... I was merely correcting the person's's grammar ... I wasn't confirming anything he wrote : )

  • @PatriceFitz in the movie my fair lady correct i do belive though there is only one song julie andrews did sing in the movie, but marnie nixon did sing or was dubbed over audrey vocals in the film... my fair lady broadway julie did all the singing of course.

  • @PatriceFitz If you think that's true listen to her at age 12yrs and 15yrs! You are confused and should retract your statement!

  • No contemporary artist can sing the way she did.....no whitney, mariah.....especially not at that age....

  • Wunderbar. Is it just Julie? Surely she couldn't have it all those high notes!!

  • @LilCorpJanie18 Yes, is it only her, and it is really her :)

    Julie is amazing!

  • @MayaLoveJulie Wheeeeeew! I knew she was amazing. I didn't know she was phenomenal!

  • @LilCorpJanie18 Have you never heard her before??? She got all the high notes....until that surgery.....

  • @AlexH2906 Yeah, I heard her, in The Sound of Music (where I lost my heart to her voice) and also here and there in other things, but I never knew her voice range covered that high!

  • @LilCorpJanie18 I just heard she had 4 octaves!

  • she is an angel from heaven

  • Stunning.

  • Ooh, this gave me the chills... so amazing.

  • ...I'm 15. I wish I had her voice. OHHHHH!!!!!! Beautiful!

  • She was already adorable personally and perfect professionally. Incredible! How we do love her.

  • I LOVE HER!!! FOR EVER AND EVER

  • Wow

  • I love her!

  • The audience must have been hilarious to hear Julie sing this LIVE. I wish I had been among them. Did she record this in any of her albums?

  • She is a real singer! So good so young. But more important, what a wonderful lady she is.

  • Wow! I wasn't familiar with her teenage singing years. Julie Andrews is a blessing from God.

  • No praise is too much to evaluate Julie's exceptional voice. And I am sure her teacher Madame Lilian Stiles-Allen would be furious to see Julie lose her nightingale voice because of the failure of her throat surgery were she still alive.

Though I respect Julie's own decision not to pursue a career of an opera singer,

she should have become a prima donna.

  • I found this very imaginative video from Breton2Robert called Julie Andrews: A Few Notes

  • my GOD.....she is not from this world

  • Wow... she definitely sounds older than 15.... but she's an AWESOME singer!

  • wow. very pretty little kid, and teenager. a star is born for a century

  • Julie Andrews' pre-adult singing is new to me. It's remarkable. She clearly had a voice for opera. She is called A COLORATURA SOPRANO. Julie could have become an opera singer!! I love her voice. Looks like Julie, Beverly Sills and Deanna Durbin were about the same type of soprano as kids!

  • Wow, that's stunning.

And I can totally tell it's her!

Gorgeous gorgeous voice and amazing range.

  • Julie Andrews.....what can you say? Everybody loves her and that enormous talent she possesses. I absolutely adore her in every role she has every taken on. She is a star of stars.......

  • Props to Julie Andrews. To possess the drive and discipline to develop such an amazing talent so fully at such a young age is incredible!

  • I love herrrr. :)

  • wow these videos never cease to amaze me ever since i saw her Mary Poppins i thought was great but she is just incredible and not to mention beautiful even in her old age

  • All the people who think that Mariah Carey has a spectacular voice including her "whistle" register should listen to this, then they'll be wondering what's so great about Carey.

  • @JLTHRTN Whitney Houston is better than Julie Andrews

  • @JLTHRTN I don't like Carey's voice or singing style, but she has a far higher top voice than Andrews. Although it must be said that apart from her notes in alt altissimo, the rest of Carey's voice is very ordinary.

  • @JLTHRTN ***AND*** they have to notice that, without a technique, the voice is going thowards it's own dead, like Mariah's voice now.

  • isn't she sooo pretty at 00:51!!

  • Can anyone help me with the lyrics. they are not on wikipedia.

    i really need them. please

  • Love Julie Andrews. Mariah Carey eat your heart out

  • Her voice is deepened and steadied at age 15 compared to age 12...

  • Wow, what a mature, professional-sounding rendition for a 15-y.o.! And that clear diction is there already! Echoing others here, methinks she would've been a nice lyric soprano in the vein of Anneliese Rothenberger or Hilde Gueden, perhaps. She sure had the pipes, the discipline and maturity for it!

  • Has Julie recorded other arias? According to her memoir "Home", she sang the "Shadow Song". That version must be tremendous.

  • She has such an amazing voice and is just a verry talented woman!

  • I don't understand why she didn't go into opera, even light opera. Even as a lyric soprano, she would have been fine.

  • I agree with you, but wouldn't have been awful not to have Julie Andrews and Eliza Doolitle, et al?!

  • @xander7ful In her memoir she said that her vocal teacher hoped that she would go into opera as she did. But J. said she didn´t find her voice strong enough for it.

    Who knows.

  • She is so pretty, so natural!

  • Corrijo una palabra: cinematográfico, que pena. HERNANDO SALGUERO FLOREZ

HERNANDO SALGUERO FLOREZ-PERIODISTA COLOMBIANO.

  • which is the last note??

  • it's a high D

  • "Madame hoped very much that I would go into opera, but I always sensed that it was too big a stretch for me."(Quoted from Julie's memoir "Home")

Hearing this song, I think Julie may have

wasted her distinguished voice. She might have played various operatic roles.

  • I hear this song for the first time.

Julie Andrews is really exceptional no matter how much time goes on. Her melodious and mesmerizing technique is beyond description. Thanks for uploading this treasure!

  • She developed some non cancerous nodules in her throat that were affecting her singing voice. The doctor that removed them promised she would have her singing voice back within a few weeks, but after two years and her singing voice not coming back, she filed a malpractice lawsuit against several of the doctors involved in her surgery, and the doctor that performed it.

  • it just breaks my heart knowing that Julie can't sing like that anymore. Yet she is still amazing, whether she can sing or not.

  • She still sang in one part of Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. The title of the song was Your Crowning Glory, and it's a great one. I read in IMDb that she did great in the first recording of that song, and some of the crew even went to tears after hearing her sing; it was her first public singing after she had her operation.

  • she cant be 15 years old here!

    is she really??????????

  • hehe yes she is :)

  • @MayaLoveJulie (Re "really Julie?") Yes . . . we "have it on the best authority!" She could have been an opera diva soprano.

  • @underwood1232 u should check out julies earlier singing..at 10 she sang god save the king...an 12 she sang a song that was so powerfull it sounds like she would be in her 20s but nope..come on look at charolatte church...she was a young girl with powerful voice....

  • @underwood1232 you can hear some similarities to her incredible 12-year-old voice. Otherwise I wouldn't believe it either.

  • @underwood1232 you should search julie andrews at 12 :)

  • wow high pitch! i wish i could sing high pitch!

  • Never thought of this as a song with lyrics!

  • That stupid doctor who messed up her voice! He said she'd be able to sing only 3 weeks after the surgeory.

  • whoops, hit the post comment button by accident. Anyway, I heard voice people use their voice so much and in different ways than normal people so it is much easier for them to wear out their voices.

  • if they know how to sing without hurting themselves, that shouldn't be a problem.

  • This is probably complete nonsense, but I'm just curious; is it possible she had voice problems because her larynx was so developed when she was a child? And then of course the more you use it the more "aged" it gets. Just a hunch. I heard voice folks often have the problem of maintaining their voice because they use

  • I don't like "operatic" singing usually, this is great. Reminds me of Jenny Lind in my day.

I've always thought Julie Andrews was very attractive Julie Andrews from the first time i saw her in The Sound of Music. Does she represent Britain well generally?

  • Does anyone know the lyrics? I found them on wikipedia, but that's not what she's singing...I'd be glad if someone helps me :)

  • Julie had a four-octave range. As a child, she has stated, her larynx was as well-developed as an adult's larynx.

  • she is so great. the best ever. i so like her. i even memorized all her songs from mary poppins and my child too. gonna buy her old musicals... sana may makita pa ko

  • not sure who posted that, but I truly hope you are kidding me. Nothing against Miley(who am I kidding?lol), but Julie Andrews could have sung circles around DESTINY Hope Cyrus. she is such a humble, funny, graceful and gifted person how can you even compare?miley's genre of songs if you want to be so kind is completely different. Besides JA has more control and a beautiful range, at least she doesn't sound like an old smoker when she talks.Done.sorry for the comment I didn't mean to be annoying

  • Completely agree. Only I wouldn't have put it so kindly.

  • haha ya, I didn't want to get anyone mad, but I can't stand it when ppl don't appreciate true talent and think mediocre kid pop singers are better

  • Oh goodness. Please please tell me you are kidding. This world has truly gone to the dogs when people like Miley Cyrus are noticed for their musical faulty than for their musical majesty like Julie...

  • Only to idiots and deaf people.

  • Are you serious?

  • lol! poor you

  • My God, you r brain dead , don't respond

  • Wow. What clarity! Fantastic.

  • she was and still is amazing, but why did she have vocal cord surgery/ does anyone know?

  • im fuzzy on the details, but i do believe she had some sort of growth (non cancerous) that she needed to have removed, and unfortunately the surgery went wrong. she sued them.

It's been a while since i read her biography so dont qoute me on it! :P

  • *quote (my bad!)

  • i miss her voice.. :(

too bad she can't sing now...

  • I believe she developed vocal nodes when she was in "Victor/ Victoria" :(

  • I take it that was because she was singing too low? maybe I should stop doing that...

  • In response to JuliaDarling -

Some say her problems go back further than that - to My Fair Lady. The pure wear (even though she knew how to look after her voice) of doing that kind of score for so many performances is bound to take its toll...

She's is utterly, utterly divine, and this performance is so lovely to listen to. Thankyou for posting.

  • Amazing! I've never heard this before. She is incredible and just such a lovely person.

  • OH MY GOSH!!! This is unbelievable!!! she doesn't have talent... she has a gift!!! She is so beautiful, and has an amazing voice... even at such a young age!!! WOW is all i have to say

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful song with us...

  • What an incredible voice. Perfection! She was quite beautiful too, well, still is. :) She's awesome.

  • Amazing! I'd never heard Julie Andrews

sing as a child before.... an incredible talent!!! Imagine.... only 12 years old and

singing like an opera singer!! WOW!! This is the stuff LEGENDS are made of! Bravo

    Julie!!!

  • It says in the title, she's 15 here. What an amazing set of pipes and such a huge tragedy that botched vocal cord surgery took it away. But I still hear you, Julie, thanks to recordings!

  • She is a legend. The voice is so pure and sweet. She feels the music!

A true performer with massive talent!

  • i look at all the musical films of that time and julie andrews should have been cast for every famale role, all of them, no one can do it beter then her. Her voice really inspires me, and probably most of the world, and if not, it should!

  • please i need this lyricss is very important !!!! i like sing this song :D!!!

  • If you go to wikipedia and search blue danube they have all they lyrics on the entry for it.

  • waaaaaaaaaaa!!!thanks but there isnt :(

  • She was born with a fully formed adult larynx!

  • This is real music. She is a real talented singer!

  • Um, She doesn't sound like Julie Andres to me

and she doesn't sound like 15 either

  • Your voice does change somewhat as you age, you realize.

And that's the whole point. She was the "little girl with the big voice." =)

  • Haha Miley and Demi can suck it.

  • lol

  • totally agree

  • She gave me goosebumps! Wow!

  • I can imagine Julie walking along the Thames and inspiring the birds and all the people to sing!

  • and she was only 15. How sad for the 15 year olds today

  • Julie Andrews Is incredible. I bow to her talent, this woman could sing!!!

  • 15?!?! Omg!

  • That's what you call soprano perfection. I think she is every soprano's inspiration. I wish I had half that voice. Shoot I would die for 1/4 of her voice. It's perfect!

  • At 15?! Wow, I can't believe someone my age could sing like that. Amazing stuff.

  • Love Julie intensely

  • What's really amazing is that at at 15, she already sounds like the Julie Andrews that sang in My Fair Lady. She didn't sound like that in her recording of the Polonaise that she made at 12, even though that does sound quite good.

  • Such an open sound with a free vibrato with perfect fluter. PERFECT RUNS!

  • Wow, didn't realize she was operatic. I loved the melisma at the end! :)

  • What a wonderful combination: Strauss Jr. and Julie Andrews. I love both of them.

    Thanks a zillion for sharing.

    Ernesto
