  • Thanks for the help, I really needed it to get off to a reasonable start!

  • Okay so idk wtf is up, but when I open Logic I don't have to option of choosing from templates, and I can't record anything. It's like the entire program is f'd up. Any idea as to what's goin on?

  • Call me old, but you compose music by selecting ready made loops? It's like Microsoft ..net programming, not really programming.

  • @dvamateur Who ??

  • @mrmigtight I guess you never had anything to do with programming computers.

  • @dvamateur This was a quick tutorial that doesn't mean he does this for every single track or tune he makes.

  • @djkoz78 Amen lol

  • @mrmigtight Right! I mean come on most music almost all music these days have to be ran through some sort of program before ever being released. Even Rock & Country not just Pop, House,Hip Hop etc etc... Most song I'm sure are mixed through a sound board and mastered through some sort of computer program be it Logic, FL Studio, or whatever.n Give the guy a break Geez he was just trying to help people out with problems they may be experiencing with Logic. Hey thanks for your work it's appreciated

  • how do you enhance timing on midi ?

  • sweeet

  • cool thanks :) u rocks :)

  • Am certainly looking forward to getting into LOGIC in a big way. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated. These videos will be a great learning tool for me. I have never been good with manuals.

  • I have been using PT for about 4 years but am just now venturing into Logic. Other than being a little difficult to see all of the monitor this has been the most helpful video I have seen so far to help someone just starting out. What many people do not realize is that just because you may be good at something doesn't make you a good teacher. I think you have both qualities. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to more of your videos.

    Thanks...

  • @snsproaudio I appreciate that. When I first started doing these videos I didnt have the proper screen capture software. Some of the later vids are done with the right software.

  • Seriously man, this was helpful for me as a beginner in logic, but haven't you ever heard of screenium or ishowu? it's so goddamn hard to see what you're doing.

  • HI, COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. WHEN I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN USING MIDI.(IF IM USING EITHER THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD OR A MIDI KEYBOARD) THE NOTES ARE SOUNDING A FRACTION LATE WHEN I LISTEN TO IT AFTER I RECORD THE SOUND. ITS FINE WHEN PLAYING, ONLY WHEN PLAYING BACK. IT WAS FINE AT FIRST BUT FOR SOME REASON THE SOUND IS A FRACTION OUT WHEN PLAYING BACK THE RECORDED SOUND. PLEASE PM ME. THANKS

  • @kauters tempo is probably off

  • I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM THIS VIDEO THANK YOU AND I'LL BE LOOKING FOR MORE! I'M A BEGINNER SO ANYTHING BEGINNERS SHOULD KNOW?

  • Hey Mr. Mig I thought the tutorial was helpful. I also read your website and your bio. Very impressive. As an aspiring produce how do I start. Do u think I should take a course in keyboards first or not?

  • THANKS !

  • This is a bit basic for me, having used Logic for some time now. But... I just can't understand how much of a dick some people can be, to come on here and slate you for your videos, that obviously take you some time to make when you're just trying to help production novices. Shame on you haters!

  • hey there..

I'm new to all this and it's helped me already..

a hell of a lot more useful than weighty manuals..

    thanks..

  • He is helping for those how don't know logic at all. So I don't see why to be su rude..

  • Thanks for the help dude. I just got Logic and found these vids pretty useful. Learnt quite allot. Keep up the good work. Shame about the idiots who can't appreciate the efforts of someone bothering to take the time out of their probably pretty busy schedule to help others purely out of a willing to help anyone who has a keen willing to make music and learn something new. Thanks again =)

  • @facilitiesUK Shit comment...Showin your ass...

  • Boring as hell Mr Mig.sorry

  • @logicike Sorry, I'm not here to entertain you. I've helped millions of people with my boring videos..Your comments, however, help noone.

  • @mrmigtight Millions huh? or try a little over a hundred thousand. I know those commas can be tricky sometimes.

  • @CooperNikkus What are you referring to?

  • @CooperNikkus Mate, stop being a knob. Thanks Mr. Mig great tutorials.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=ro_1fHbk4aI

  • Mr. Mig how do you make the wave file bigger you know without using the eq not looping. enlarging them

  • thanks for the tutorial man luvin your tunage gettin my first mac on thursday wooo lol jus for logic pro ive alwayz had pc fl studio but its not for me

    Dj Merseyak

  • how do you press the "ON" button

  • First, take your finger out of your arse hole..........

  • we can't see anything, thx

  • Can any one help me im try n to make a bass for techno not drum bass but like that pulsating background noise you always here can someone please help me find it or make one?

  • This tutorial is great.

    Keep em' coming :)

  • Don't knock this dude or audio clips/loops. Loops are just repeated clips of sound. Sound is a good thing! Clip out a cool guitar riff and use it. Clip out an audio clip of a kid yelling " I hate raisins!" Use them, mix them, be creative. MAKE ART NOT WAR.

  • I use my own loops :D . I create a unique sound/beat and export as .wave file . This way the music software doesnt eat all my ram and I can add more tracks ^_^ .

  • Why are people talking negatives here. This is a tutorial, if you don't like loops that's fine. Some folks use them too much, some don't at all, and some loop their original tracks like folks here have said already.

  • yo sicwitit thanks for the advice i've been working on putting more energy in my tracks- thanks doggy

  • dead link

  • Loops is for faking it. fahkin loops suck ass!

  • wit out loops music wont exist dumb ass

  • can you change the bass drum (kick) thats on a loop?

  • if you have a beat on a cd and you want to record vocals on it in logic pro 8 how would you do it?

  • export the song to mp3 format then open it in an audio track in logic.. boom

  • Thanks a lot for this small tutorial :) Helped me get on my way with Logic.

  • nice work man...as ure a producer u might be able to help me when i turn my arm for recording on it makes a fuzzy noise any help but i use a different programme aswell

  • $500

  • fucking loops. It's not that I don't like your loops, I don't loops.. they're destroying music.. always the same fucking thing repeating and repeating. damn i hate that, no dynamics, it sounds like a robot. no music for me in there. find a friend that plays drums and do music....

  • No dynamics :S do you even know what dynamics are? because what you said made no sense.

    I'll give you a clue..............accents

  • dude I agree with yah, there are so many people calling themselves unsigned musicians by taking advantage of the loops and forming their own random shit.

  • Even instrument bands loop in the studio. They'll play a riff and instead of playing for 3 minutes they'll loops it as long as they need.

  • 250 for the academic version and 500 for the full version

  • get a screen recorder

  • Hi mig how is it going, like your tutorials thank you. have you done one on layering or laying down vocal tracks from a mic

it would be good to learn to do. keep up the good work. Also have you looked at Ti Jutsu from Genbukan KJJR

    Thanks.

  • no im not

  • no i havent

  • under SETTINGs i dont have anything saying drums and percussion only garageband have logic pro 8 without plug ins r stuff how i get the drumcomputer?

i used reason for a while so i am still a retard in logic pro :")

  • I have logic pro 8 and im a artist. Im curious How Do You process the effects live as your recording for example the pitch correction that gives that t pain effect...i want to hear it as im recording, not going back afterwards everytime to listen to it.

  • nah.... you can do it as you go along, sometimes it's just handy to open a few up at the beginning!

  • ohh awesome then :P

  • Hey, retard! You do do it as you go along. The ones at the beginning are just for convenience.

  • dude calm down man/.. i dont use this programme i use reason.... sorry if i offended u in anyway....

  • u can add as you go,it just asks you if you wanna make 1 or more tracks.

  • is this better than fl studio

  • yes much better

  • In my opinion I like Fl but because of the step sequencer but this is also very good.

  • Thank You!! Helped me out a lot

  • thanks :) very helpful :)

  • go to a local college and buy the "academic version" its like 150 bucks, but is still the 20 pound box with all the software that comes on pro.

  • think what you could have done with those 500 euro's ... you could do many nice things

  • well i got +3 nigga! ROFL!!!

  • I'm really interested in what you have to share but it's very difficult to see what you are doing. Can you get Screenflow and redo this so I can actually see whats going on? Just got Logic and you seem like you can show me whats up

  • You are dutch?

  • aww, i wish i had this program in my computer! lol

  • thanks man, love your work keep it up!

  • Pro: Great tutorial for newbees. I enjoyed

Con: need a new hat :)

    thx

  • Bad Video !!!

  • can you make your own drums tracks in logic, like how you do in fruity loops? instead of sampling something else i want to be able to make my own beats.

  • idrum is a cool drum machine for mac, i downloaded the free trial and i can even export my beats as midi or bounce them to whatever audio format i like.

  • Can You make your own loops in logic with one shot samples?

  • blurry as fuck

  • Cool stuff, thanks for uploading - I'm a new user to Logic, been producing music in the far simpler Logic Express, but also GarageBand, for about a year.

    Thanks a lot :)

  • hey guys, just letting everyone know that you need to hit caps lock to get to the live inst recorder...mig kinda skips this one :-) best

  • Thanks for the tutorials! Very Helpful!!

  • see this is what I want to do...i want to drag the recorded pattern beat into list, then I want to play splithead the part of the beat I want to use, then I want to use that particular sound that was in the pattern and put a piano roll on that noise to make beat with that singular sound how can I do this????

  • i think fl studio is more easy to use

  • I've got a problem...

The only loops I've got are the Garageband loops!

I can't find any that are from Logic...

    Can you please help me?

  • when you 1st install logic, it will ask you where you want to install your loops also. do you remember installing the audio content cds?

  • this was WELL helpful! got an assignment due in soon and iv got to use logic 8 to do it on! XXX

  • i know logic 7 but i need to use this at college this helped cheers

  • Thanks bro! This was a great way for me to start...especially by using something as easy as loops! Cheers homie!!! Keep making those sick beats, bro! Gonna watch the rest of your tutorials now! LOL! Peeeeeeeeace!

  • Question I wanna start making beats on logic what do I do?? I wanna be able to drag a noise into list and do a piano roll and make beat that way Lol>>> I'm use to working with fruity loops but I go logic now.. who got knowledge about this??? I wanna make beats ASAP.

  • hey man

thanks so much for the video!

    very very CLUTCH man

i just got Logic and watching this answering many questions i had in mind, wish i could see your monitor screen more clearly, but the audio is great

and your patient explanation is dope for new kids on the block

    thanks!

  • no. sorry.

  • really good tutorial. kinda know where i'm starting now!

    cheers!

  • very helpful. Do you know where there is any info to say how to get a MIDI interface working. Have got a tascam us122 but no sound go to the Mac. Manuals don't help much as far as I can see. would be grateful if anyone can point me in right area as midi set up window on logic does not help.

  • a one minute job ... taking about ten minutes to do .. phew ..

  • Did you notice the word "Tutorial" in the title? It's for people who don't know how to use Logic.

  • sorry for being rude......you are right.

good stuff anyways.. and thanks for sharing too.was just too sleepy when i saw this video and was just trying to gain insight on logic.

btw .. i see you using audio loops..

tell me if there is a panner on the audio , how do u splice it...as logic only show a mono waveform in the main inspector

  • Yes Sir...

  • do you have a recording tutorial because I got a problem recording on mine. I just got logic when I start recording on my MXL 990 mac threw my US-122, I hear a loud speakerphone noise it goes away when I turn down the volume but after that I cant hear the beat I'm tryna rap on. I'm tryna record w/out hearing that load noise what should I do?

  • Is this guy using a macbook?

  • Thanks Mr Mig! I'm looking to broaden my horizon at the moment, I'm currently using reaon 4.0 and sometimes rewire it into fl studio, But my brains and hands want more, I think I've nailed the quality and potential of reason a lil bit with my video PIECES, could u please take a look at it and rate it qua producer and rap skills I dit it Bi-langual I hope u like it, I'll be checkin out your tutorials So I can learn more about Logic!

  • eheh I'm already on it! :D Thanks Mr. Mig! I was just watching how you got your start and I gotta tell ya... We might be honest to ourselves but pressure parents put on us makes us think twice so it gets hard... I mean, sometimes it's complicated to accomplish the life we really want like you did! You're a case of success! Be proud and keep sharing your tutorials and experiences! Respect! ;)

  • Soon my friend...Soon.......:-) And yes ..Hit the "caps lock" key and then your computer keyboard can be manipulated like a controller with octaves, etc.

  • Hey mr. Mig! Thanks for your tutorials! You rock! ;)

When will you release the logic pro tutorial #3? We're all waiting for it! By the way, I haven't bought a controller yet so can I do get anything like a keyboard with one octave in logic so I can play some chords on it? Thanks and keep it up! :)

  • You can essentially assign key commands any way you'd like. Go to Logic and then either preferences or key commands.

  • option k

  • when I get to the point around 3.50min..when you say use Command+R my MacbookPro plays the notification sound and doesn't allow the Repeat Function.

How do you get to the option without using the Key Commands

  • same thing happened to me on my macbook!

  • Do you only use loops?

  • No...I use some loops and I play everything else.

  • I use logic express is thar really all i need to produce or would it be worth investing in logic pro

  • The Only thing theres different in Logic Pro is that you have all the jam-packs withn the package.

  • I have a Macbook that I bought last year. Not the pro. Just the white one. I also bought pro tools LE. I'm new to computers and recording so all this stuff has been torture for me. Nothing I do seems to work even though I bought all kinds of books and videos and follow all the lessons. I can't even get a simple drum and bass loop to sync. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Is Logic easy? Will it work on the plain Macbook? My Pro-tools is killing me slowly. I can't waste money again!

  • Protools is not great for composing music..It is used primarily for audio editing and mixing. Logic will make your life alot easier..I also own PT but almost never use it. Get Logic and problem solved...It's called Logic for a reason. :-) Good Luck. -Mig

  • Thank you for that encouragement. I've heard from a few people that logic is the way to go. The only reason I stuck with pro tools for so long is that I paid a good amount of money for it and don't want to feel like I'm giving up, you know? I kept telling myself to stick with it and maybe I'll get the hang of it. Now I think I'll make the jump soon. Will a macbok with 1 gig of memory handle it? And how much hard disk space? I have a 80 gig mac drive and a Lacie 140 gig external drive. Peace.

  • image is not centered, is not clear what exactly you do :(

I was interested about what you do at 5:00 with Kick Drum , snare etc..

  • ok..i understand. You simply play ultrabeat via midi with an external keyboard. then record and quantize..right?

  • Just wondering...will this help with Logic Express 8 as well?

  • Absolutely

  • man thank you so much.. this program is so daunting to me, and it costed over $500 haha

  • brilliant tutorial - I'm still so intimidated by original production stuffs, but this video humanized it a bit, who knows maybe someday I'll do more than just mashups.... =D

  • Hey Michaelangelo.. ..You wrote that funny article several yrs ago..right??

  • *mortified* oh my GOODNESS - I had not thought about that silly newspaper spoof in years....dear oh dear, that was offensive *lol* (I just found an old copy to read through it) yikes - many apologies for my lame attempt at college humor/satire :p

  • I thought it was funny..No Worries! Lol!

  • Thanks for posting! Was very helpful. :)

  • Thanks Mr. Mig!!

  • HYE HOW DO I MAKE LIKE T PAIN VOCALS???

  • You need software like Autotune by Antares.

  • Hey my my macbook handle Logic pro 8?

I have the simple white one.

  • Can my macbook handle it?

    The simple white one.

  • mine does. macbook 2ghz, 1 meg ram, 80 gig hard drive (logic studio -pro 8). works fine up to now. its takes up masses of hard disk storage space if you install all the samples and jam packs. i bought an external hard disk drive (usb) and put all that stuff on there. works great!

  • Thank you so much Mr Mig!

Im starting in logic, and I was lost!

    Many thanks!

    Keep rocking.

Greetings from japan, a brazilian in japan.

  • Likesuperhard...Awesome! Btw, I train Brazillian Jiu Jitsu...It's also like a Brazilian in Japan lol.

  • Hi there! Great have your experience here on YouTube! Have you checked out Snaps Pro X? It's a pretty simple way to capture what you're doing on screen...

Can't wait to check out your stuff. Take care!

    -D

  • Hey D,Thanks for reaching out. Nice to hear from you. Alot of the guys on youtube give you alot of props. Ive checked out Snaps Pro x. Actually my latest video dealing with automation utilizes software for screen capturing that I liked a bit more. I notice you and I share some of the same interests including martial arts. Keep up the good work bro.

    -Mig

  • Why is it all producers seem to know martial arts? Ever think that was weird?

Take care! I'll be catching up with you rvids later.

    *bows*

  • Only the good ones though '-)

    *Bows Back*

  • i just bought logic about a week ago so i suppose the main aspects to good producing, what type of approach do you have? vocal comping, how to get a good feel when using midi your approaches there, once again im not picky just grateful that your willing to share thanks!!
