  • EG using the Brute drive?

  • Comment removed

  • what pedals is he using that tone is so sweet!

  • Met Gales at BB Kings in Memphis...he was a real prick and burnt. Sad to have that much talent and wasting the vessel it came in. Gales is playing Eric's licks on his ride..that is so LAME...play something of your own! Oh wait...he doesn't have any...

  • Eric is obviously Jimi's younger brother. No doubt.

  • Gales tone is so much sweeter than Johnsons

  • This is a beautiful song.. Gale crushed it so goddamn hard...

  • eric johnson should gtfo. Gales is the show

  • gales solo was so much better

  • that was life changing!!!

  • 6:04 :) :) :)

  • Can no longer fight back my tears. May This Be Love always gets me misty eyed no matter who's playing. It's just a beautiful beautiful song. <3

  • The song is May this be love, not Waterfall.

  • Yes Jimmy was a great writer .

  • Eric Gales is so much better than Jimmy it's not even funny.

  • @cookingnotes Eric is great, but if it weren't for Jimi, I don't think we'd know who Eric Gales even is. Nothing against Eric, but he hasn't written any songs that even come close to what Hendrix produced in the short musical life span that he shared with us. To compare the two is not really doing either of them justice.

  • 2 of the most incredible guitarists of all time together!

Johnson's glassy smooth tone and lighting fast fretwork is perfectly complemented by Gales' gnarly riffs and screaming notes.

  • great vid, audio pretty bad, would love to hear a clear version of this.

  • 6:11 blows my heart. I can Imagine what people felt in front of the stage :)))

  • Gales is such a awesome guitar players.......watch him play..National Anthem at Gibson Lounge..the whole cub stopped!!! Everyone just stood,,there with their mouth open....No Kidding,.,.,.

  • @rockinrandy327 what you said here led me searching for that version but still cant find it here. this is what i found; the BB King's Memphis' version and the North Lawrence Ohio version (after Voodoo Chile)

  • The intro is just pure magic...

  • Try and count how many times Gales qoutes a Johnson lick...

  • man they make a great team.

  • Oh man. Hit the wrong key on my iPhone there! Didnt mean that question mark. Anyways, a song should be allowed to evolve and be experimented with. Sometimes it will be better, sometimes not.

  • Because they can! How boring it would be if they played it just like Hendrix. Why be a carbon copy if you can personalize it? When I hear a cover I hope it's not identical to the original?

  • jimi's guitar playing on the original version is eloquent, lyrical and beautiful. why add a bunch of nervous noodling triplet arpeggios and scales? these guys are talented but jimi was and remains, the voodoo child.. ☮

  • @thehighestlove

right, I've heard covers of Hendrix's original work, and it's always derivative and inferior (no I heard one I loved) - but nothing can touch Are You Experienced as a seminal work, a touchstone of Western cultural shift - Jimi turned us all on - on the other hand, the two Erics are nice to hear jamming, too

  • I only wish I was there to hear this beautiful cover in person..

  • Who else when they first saw this thought "Well this can't be the same "Waterfall" that I'm thinking of..." and then when you heard it thought "Oh wow that is so cool they would do that..."

  • Wow

  • EJ's vocals are nice on here. The two are amazing!

  • how can anyone even bear to listen to this the sound is so bad?.

  • @sheltech12

I beg to differ. I think this is absolutely gorgeous. If you meant quality, well yeah it could be better. But it doesn't deface the performance one bit.

  • cool!

  • No "dis respeck"

  • Ellen Degeneres is awesome on guitar!

  • @Thekeon3 hahahahahah

    Good post

  • man I love Eric Johnson's solo....very melodic and unexplainable sensation..

  • Beautiful

  • Cool. I suppose if you can play like that you don't need to get out of your pyjamas.

  • jimi would have loved this..

  • It sounds like Gales plays a little bit of Cliffs of dover in his solo.

  • i like EJ's playing, but it sounds like he rolls the tone knob all the way back, and i hate that tone. Gales kills it though. i wish he had done all the singing also. Johnson has such a weak little voice.

  • EJ made the intro so good.. great tones

  • johnson lost and muddy Gales Amazing!

  • 4:34 !!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's great to have this artist back at his craft and the freedom to give. Hope Eric contiues with this amazing, spiritual provoking aproach to music. Sly said, " take it higher". I say continue to touch those that feel and welcomes your art. The world is in your hands. Peace and love be with you and I'm looking foward to your next creation.

  • I like EJ a lot, and all interpretations are welcome when it comes to Jimi,,,BUT the thing with covers are that the groundfeeling should be maintained. And in this particular number the FEELING is much much more important than any overkill by skilled guitarists. To capture the mood of jimi´s composition takes alot more than just being a wizard ( technically) on an instrument. It takes INSIGHT. !!!!

  • Samuel L. Jackson plays the guitar..?

  • @abzoluut Looks more lik Will Smith to me.

Amazing performance, there is so much passion and soul put into this song!

  • @abzoluut u forgot tony montana, ey

  • Mate, I was joking...Of course E.G. is a great guitarist...I was kinda just thinking Jimmy Hendrix also being left hand etc...

  • yeah, it's those up side down guitars:¨)

  • @MrSemperfidelis225 No ,

    it isn't

eric gales , take the guitars and just turning them around ,

    without changing anything ,

just look how a guitar should look like,

and then look how he's holding them !

  • by the way the name of this song is may this be love

  • eric gales is the best bluesrock guitarist of our time

  • eric johnson is a good hair designer..... 2:22 erics like "im cool ... im black!!!!"

  • @codehendrix Please become more informed before you embarrass yourself again like that. Take care.

  • eric johnson is a good hair designer.....

  • E.J. rules !!!!

  • AMEN

  • Looks like the Detroit show.

  • Aw. @ 3:34 Gales plays an omage to 'Cliffs of Dover'.

  • very asian... awesome stuff.....

  • Spoiler Alert!!!!-

In Ghost Busters III- Eric and Eric Kill the new and improved Sta Puff Marshmallow man by crossing their headstocks and playing the riff at 5:21.

  • AWESOME!!

  • This would be AWESOME if the sound quality wasn't SHIT!

  • Eric Gales makes it look so easy; the same way Jimmi did.

  • the guitar is a st. blues made in memphis tn.,,,im a long time friend,,,theat goes all the way back to high school when we both played drumsin band and church,,,lol its funny that we laugh at that when we talk about it

  • so beautiful

  • what brand of guitar is eric gales playing upside down? is it a fender strat w/ tele controls? what color is that? so nice...

  • Cool, but audio needs tweaking. Peace.

  • Rock will never die.

  • all i can say is ,,,, wow! !!! beautiful

  • correct me if im wrong, but I swear this was "May this be Love?"

  • @camair2112 yes, the name is May this.....

  • this is great

  • I saw this tour in Louisville, KY. It was the awesomest EVER

  • i'm so feeling this ....you have to hear past the distortion and bad sound quality and feel the tune for what it is.... I wish I was there for that.......

  • The two Erics conjuring the spirit of Jimi! Phenomenal stuff!

  • "May This Be Love" always brings tears to my eyes. THis and "Angel."

  • Jimi would have loved this

  • im sorry i mistakenly thumbs downed this meaning to thumbs up this so add 2 lol... this piece makes me wana cry its so beautiful

  • @carlfia

    rgr that brother A+

  • @carlfia How do you know?

  • @bmwm3cs fuck off, that's how I know

  • Comment removed

  • @thecarlfia56 I was about to talk hella shit but then I saw your channel and subscribed. I'm sure that Jimi would have liked this too but everyone is entitled to a little trolling... : )

  • Waterfalls!!!! One of the most beautiful Jimi compositions....RIP Jimi!!!! Eric G. Keep your head up, keep your strength brotha man.

  • beautiful

  • I know what you mean triggerhappy6... I saw this tour Oct. 2008 and it had the same effect on me as well... What a great show... So many talented musicians under one roof at one time!! I was in music heaven that night!!!

  • both performances on this song from eric gales/eric johnson playing together have left me nothing short of feeling goosebumps and in complete awe, just complete awe.

  • was this in chicago?

  • Hendrix R.I.P

  • Mr. Eric johnson, takes the song to other level.. no one can reach there. great cover!

  • A shame the person filming wasn't more center, as E. Gales was much louder than E. Johnson, but it's not a complaint in the end.

I think playing with others brings out the best in Mr. Johnson.

    Thanks for the great post...

  • what a nice comment. sorry dude, that i sound cheesy but i mean it. nowadays everyone either brags or insults-it was a delight to see that there are people out there that actually have a brain, and use it...
