  • Partnering Neil Tennants silky smooth voice with Bernard Sumners was a stroke of genius.Still love this song 22 years later.

  • I LIKE .......!

  • is this song mocking morrissey?

  • I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE

  • Great song from a great CD!

  • man such wonderful memories to this song

  • In my opinion, this is the finest pop single in the history of music. Others can disagree, but I truly believe it.

  • why do ppl think this is a gay song? just cus neil tennants in it? shame shame

  • @Davejimjr ikr some people need to grow up and appreciate what the song is about ... not hyper-analyze and judge the backgrounds of the singers...

  • And more superb 80s.....

  • Bernard Sumner is awesome!

  • track is amazing

  • Dominique Struass Kahn is living this song...

  • DSK

  • Great song...Bernard Sumner is also gay BTW

  • @TheEricinSF Er, no he's not. He's been married twice (to women) and has three kids.

  • i visited london after high school and i was total gangster rap boy/jock type and I remember meeting some girls and going to a club; this songs great. I'm not gay and he cant' touch me; lol;

  • I was living in Washington, DC and my best friend, that is my FIRST Gay best friend lived across from the marine barracks in SE Washington and he had this song playing in his apartment when I went over for a visit. God I miss him .. he passed in 2009!! This music is totally the best!!!

  • @bkinlrar .. Are Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumner gay ???? Now there's a scoop..

You should go to the press and tell them your story.................... ya slavering prick.

  • Comment removed

  • @bkinlrar .. Did you got to the press with your breaking story., How about this?, open your mouth and gobble on my 9 inches ? (your mum managed to take it all easily enough).. shuffle on dickhead.. Hows that gayboy ?

  • Comment removed

  • @bkinlrar .. Your mom is dead, sorry to hear that. Your gay friend is also dead, AIDS? or are you a serial killer... I don't have any problems and contrary to your report im very much alive.. The only problem i have i that you started this but you can't finish the job, Next time you try and take someone on, make it a 12 yo kid... Alive and Kicking is a good song, dedicated to your mum and gay fag friend. We're over. Go away asshole.

  • electronic's a bomb!! does anyone have the video forbiden city???

  • neil tenant cool as fuck, ralph lauren shirt on,back in 89,always the casual style for the psb.

  • Dang, didn't know this came out in '89 originally! Thought it had come out in '92 (when it charted in the U.S.).

  • gran tema..gracias

  • this is the exact same beginning as new orders world cup song

  • I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 90s, and the only radio station that would play this was a grunge rock alternative station that would mix this in between Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains! That's how I discovered New Order, Erasure, PSB, etc. Those were the days. Now all you hear is 70s rock or Lady Gaga on corporate radio in America, yuck!

  • lovely synth strings and lush vocals. true classic.

  • 0:23 cum shot

  • theres something about the grainy sound and video quality on this particular video that makes it so much better than the others on here! I was born in 87 and remember my parents listening to this when I was a young un.

One of my favourite 80's tunes along with "Electric Dreams" and "Making plans for nigel"

  • Good song, but sounds way too much like "Love my Way" by the Psychedelic Furs

  • @AlbanianMan Are you a moron? This song sounds NOTHING like "Love My Way"!!!!!

  • @AlbanianMan I agree with you 100%

  • A trio of new wave giants! I couldn't ask for more. Pure awesomeness.

  • Is it just me, or did they rehash the same clip on :45 for 2:46?

  • @ClarenceBoddicker87 Even when listening to these tunes were you sat there saying, "Just gimme my fuckin' phonecall"? ;)

  • I met Bernard Sumner long time ago in NYC and he was and is soooo adorable and cute.... Thanks Bern.....

  • electronic are like a new wave super group

  • @Weeman44444444444444 a new wave super group that went house mental i forgot to mention

  • Fabulous song-one of my all-time favorites of all! Ahhh, the memories is brings!

  • A great great track and has Neil Tennant Pet Shop Boys on backing vocals on it. The track is from 1989 and was on the radio a lot and remember my friend saying in 89 will you be buying this one and i said yes because i collect all psb songs also. So yes it was'89

  • One of the great spine-tingling songs from the best era of modern/alt rock: the mid 1980's to the mid 1990's. What an awesome time it was listening to these classics when they first came out. The UK put out so much great music then, too bad the import CD's cost so much, when you could find them of course. Fun times.

  • the single was released in 89 as a stand alone, followed by their debut lp two years later. so yes, this was late 80s

  • @talktal It hit the US billboard charts in the summer of 1990 though.

  • there always was something about sumner...hes a class vocalist...an original singer.....well done bernard johnny and neil...love you all!!!!

  • Why do you people keep saying "late 80s"? This is from 1991.

  • @valiumland oh sorry, this was 1989, the album came out 2 years after. My bad.

  • @valiumland I wouldn't worry, it confuses a lot of people!

  • @stellablade Thank you for that--- I'm gettin' old! Memory fades...

  • one of the best tunes from the later 80s

  • David Palmer ABC percussion

  • This song brings me good memories...life was easy back then...hahaha. At least it seemed that way to me. Lovely song.

  • Will I still be listening to this music 40 years from now when I'm 70? Or will new music eventually go back to being good again?

  • I do not like this song. It does not belong on the Electronic CD. Every song is brilliant until you get to this one. It ruined the flow. It sounds like a throw away Pet Shop Boys song.

  • @sflachuck It never appeared on the original pressing of the album I bought back in 91. I think it was only included in later versions and I agree it does sound out of place when included on the album. It's still a great track though!

  • @sflachuck Fuck you! You don't have any true faith! You've had too many blue mondays!

  • I usually hate music with this kind of sound but this song is really catchy.

  • RE: comments about the release year. It's one of my favourite songs of all time and I remember it from Jan/Feb 1990 and am positive this is when it charted in the UK. May well have been released at the end of 89 but it absolutely has to be classed as a nineties classic. :-)

  • Supergroup..I love all of them.. Great song!!!

  • Anytime you put New Order, Pet Shop Boys and The Smiths talent together, you're going to get some incredible amazing music.

  • Johnny Marr, king of the outro...

  • Johnny Marr, king of the outro...

  • Sumner, Tennant and Marr.. this is a big deal, people!

  • Four people didn't get away with it :P

  • its the best band! i love Electronic

  • brilliant tune.. nothing more, nothing less

  • love it, love it, love it

  • Dang!! Star studded tune!! F...... loved it!

  • The 1980s was an awesome decade for music!

  • @ftsjr 1991...close though.

  • @mumbler22 Sorry. This great song sounds like a "run over" from the 80s.

  • @ftsjr Actually, you're correct. This song was first released in the UK in 1989, then everywhere else the following year.

  • @territorygal Thanks. After my initial reply, I had second thoughts, noting that the date on the video was 1989.

  • Such an amazing song!!

  • Been one of johnny marrs biggest fans is what brought me here....... I'm very glad

  • Bernhard Sumner ( New Order ), Neil tennant ( Pet Shop boys ) and Johnny Marr ( the Smiths ) Great time...i cut my hair like Bernhard this time :-)

  • Finally, I found it. Can't stop listening to it.

  • 4got how gud this is well ahead of its time easily the best track of the eightiescoz most of it waz trash.....easily

  • This is superb in the last year music was music (1989). After 1989 music just jet-propelled nose-dived - now it's talentless people remaking songs from the past or winning 'talent shows' and then bringing out some crap that we all 'must buy' because they won the 'talent show'. Anyone got a time machine I can borrow?

  • @Blabloo72 I'd join you, for the music and the music, and generally the 80s. I'm working on a time machine :)

  • Good lord, have'nt heard it since 1989

  • Comment removed

  • Dont know what to make of this.

  • i love it

  • Bernard, Johnny, Neil? Yeah, I "like" this.

  • this song actually is making fun of Morrissey

  • @p2agua2 how so?

  • This is how pop singers get at each other.. they are actually making fun of Morrisey

  • @p2agua2 HAHA, that's funny. I never thought of it that way.

  • I love the fact, that two men (marr and sumner) created a band... Considering they both produce shit without their partners (morrissey and curtis)

  • DREAM TEAM OF 80'S

  • Hey Gagag, Katy Perry et al lames, this is REAL pop music, pay attention.

  • If remembered correctly these days my mind is like sieve half the time that this was hit near Christmas 89 in the UK 13 I should not have said that showing my age. What happened to those great days.

  • These 3 people altogether make me feel so happy, thank you!!! Awesome song <3

  • yeah, this song remains a favorite of mine and I am 49 yrs. old. The 80's were great times.

  • go Bernard!!

  • Love this song. 4:04 is sublime...

  • @RainPoetry For me too

  • 0:50 holy shit! IAN CURTIS! xD

    Great song, great band!

Bernard Sumner, Johnny Marr and Neil Tennant what a dream team.

  • @mtaylor848: a gentler time? It was during the cold war.

  • the sad part is that a lot of brilliant tunes never make it to US.... that shows only that how behind US is when it comes to music...

  • @robierob73 i'm from the US but i did not get to hear this song till the 90's from my sisters CD collection

  • I'm not even gay but Mr Tennants vocals are so great, I'd let him touch me.

  • @gxd4b1 I'm not gay either, and I have everything Pet Shop Boys have ever recorded. Tennant and Lowe's sexual preferences are not only none of my/anyone's business, but are totally irrelevant to whether the two of them can write and sing good songs. Bernard Sumner can't sing to save his life, but ten points for effort. :)

  • @gxd4b1 i am gay and id let him touch me

  • @gxd4b1 im supper strait and id let him touch me too

  • @gxd4b1 He probably wouldn't want to touch you. Gay men are very picky. Just because you're straight doesn't mean anything or that you're special.

  • @zoics1 Yes, plus he went to a Catholic school.

  • @zoics1 That's because gay people have discriminating tastes. They rule the fashion world for that reason ;)

  • @MiaoPurrington Yes, your'e right, unless your a gay guy who has looks of Orlando Bloom calibre, lots of money, and new car etc, and want a deep meaning relationship, your in for a lonely existence because of those materialistic shallow types. A loving heart and depth count for nothing with those turds. A decent guy was always straight. Thankfully though at long last I've found love and full genuinity in the arms of a sweet Asian guy who loves me for what's inside, loves me for who I am.

  • Heavenly Music with a Divine Message for Humanity :-D

God is Love :-) ... Getting with God and His Love :-)

    Peace with you :-)

  • This song brings back so many memories..

  • woah!!!!

  • @moderndog1975 great tune, c y u featured it

  • Great tune, one of my favourites, good times that will never come back!

  • The all my life part sounds like love my way psyc furs

  • the all my life part reminds me of another song

  • @royalnash "Love My Way" by the Psychedelic Furs. That's what it reminds me of.

  • @Dreaming32 BETTER THAN THE CRAP YOUR MOTHER MAKES ME LISTEN TO YOU FUCKIN WANKER

  • @Numbiez So u are a Faggot then? u want locking up UR SICK,

  • temazo .....de Puta M

  • this is the best song of all time. where can i download it got to have it back in my collection.

  • EXCELLENT SONG nothing further needs to be said

  • How this fantastic song barely grazed the bottom of the US Top 40 escapes me . . . .

  • puta el tema weno

  • Puta que es buen tema este, levanta ánimo total!!!

  • One of the world's top 10 greatest songs.

  • so how did marr, tennant and sumner all get together for this song, then? or what made them come together to form this group?

  • I think "Electronic" is some sort of an 'experimental' band that Bernard Sumner tried to form with Johnny Marr, for which Neil Tennant got involved to help launch it. He did ended up bringing Chris Lowe into the Electronic project, though Chris' involvement is not as extensive as Neil's. (NO, the two were never on a 'break' from the Pet Shop Boys!) This song is their debut single in 1989.

I have to say though: while Sumner is "supposedly" the Lead Singer here, Neil Tennant made it "work".

  • Try (Electronic's) Patience of a Saint too, if you like Tennant's voice that much.

  • Someone told me Neil Tennant wrote this song about/for Morrissey - any truth in that?

  • Musically, Bernard Sumner wrote the verse and Johnny Marr wrote the chorus.[1] The lyrics, co-written by Tennant with Sumner, are a parody of Marr's Smiths partner Morrissey, and his public stereotyping as morose and masochistic (Pet Shop Boys would further satirise this trend on their 1990 song "Miserablism").

    This is from Wikipedia.

  • excellent tune

bernie and neils vocals are just fantastic

could listen to this track all day

  • This takes me back to slumming it in Fallowfield in student digs...Good times..Priceless..

  • SALUDDDDDD CHEVERE

  • Nice One Here.

  • Excelente canción!! Muy buenos artistas juntos!! Neil and Bernard are Gods!!!

  • This is the oficial video!!

I love u more than u love me!!!

  • So is this the official video or is it the one in which the three members are sitting? This one seems more made for T.V.

  • Bernard Sumner is god, Fantastic, Cheers.

  • Top song. The whole album is great.

  • escuto essa musica com nostalgia!me encantou ver esse video hoje, como me encantou ha 19 anos atras...

  • Apparently this is a Morrissey inspired tune.

  • Johnny Marr is one of the founding members of 'Electronic'. In case you didnt know he co-wrote all of 'The Smiths' songs. Thats the connection dear

  • Indeed I did know that. I just wasn't going to write a biography in the comments but thank you.

  • Great tune, A+!!!

  • Only six-and-a-half thousand views??? C'mon everybody!!!

  • Bernard doing his "World In Motion" dance again! You can just imagine it.........

    (music starts)

Producer: Bernard, move around a bit!

    Bernard: I AM moving around!

  • Anne Dudley arranged the strings on this track.......she is a genius!!! Love it forever!!!!!!!!!

  • evilwilderness should have 6 thumbs up but I screwed up and hit the negative thumb because i had a few beers, sorry. heh, at least i admitted it.

  • is that johnny marr singing the two latter verses in the song?

  • A pomyśleć, że miałem przed tą piosenką takie opory ;-) Teraz bardzo tego żałuję.

  • This song reminds me Love my Way by Psychedelic Furs.

  • SUBLIME..!!!

  • Wasn't a member of Kraftwerk involved with Electronic...?

  • I think it wasn't until the 2nd or 3rd album that a member of Kraftwerk got involved. Not sure. Hmmm...?

  • That would be their second album Raise the Pressure.

This song doesn't involve Karl Bartos (ex-Kraftwerk), though it does involve Neil Tennant.

  • Karl Bartos ...yes he did involve in Electronic project...for "Raise the Pressure" Album.

  • Love this song to death!! Years later, remains an instant classic. They dont make music like this anymore.

  • Excellent Project, New Order, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys, Awesome Song,, Yea 80s Rules... Awevo... Ojala No se hubiera terminado es epoca.. Damn It !!

  • One of the best songs from that era!

  • They should work together again with PSB.
