Man... time goes by so quickly...good 'ol times when I was young and crazy, I wish kids nowadays, enjoy every day they live ( in a good way) like I did or better.
Dam this song was big. this is when the new york club seen was hot studio 54,starship discovery, and who cold not forget the PARADISE GARAGE,INFERNO,INFIFITY, REAL LIMELITE ON 11STIN THE GRENNWICH VILLAGE,PLATOS RETREAT, ROSELAND ,THE CORK N BOTTLE,THE COPACABANA ON 59 STREET i can just keep going.. for those of you that were never in new york you will never know what u missed party all night then hit the after hoursand patry drink till 10 am then go to the beach lol thumbs up
@crackernumber2 No. you r just a human being with desires (good and bad) depending on what good and bad is for you in the first place, like the rest of us.
i always want to get up and dance my ass of when i hear this tune, it is such a happy tune - if i had the chance to go back to my youth it would be happily around 1965 to 1989 i could not get enough of this kind of music, can still see myself dancing the jive with my cousin in Lacey Lady and The Palias in Ilford - sigh happy times
Man i wish all people in the world could love each other :'/ imagine if everyone was your mom, then youd love everyone, right? If this could just be true the world would be a better place for all of us mayn. Love all you guyz! Just for the kinda of person you are!!! Because your an individual!! Peace.
Que exquisito aoir este tema, 36 años han pasado, y mientras lo escucho retrocedo en el tiempo, que nostalgia...........ufffff Hermoso!!!! Tenía mis hermosos 16 años...
I was stationed in Puerto Rico in the 70s at Roosevelt Roads Naval Station and we would end our crazy night with final drinks at the Hawanian Hut in San Juan, and this song was played about a kajillion times....
The repetitive piano and bass hooks tip it more towards a dance/disco edge. The track includes congas and a 16th hi-hat beat with four to the floor kick. Also a sign that it is more disco than soul. Not to mention that it's an extended version for mixing in clubs. However, both forms of music are intrinsically linked
@jazzymansam Oh no!.....70's Soul is much DEEPER than that......its a whole attitude of difference when compared to Disco, but both are similiar......
Remember playing the album so much it skipped on this song. Since it was the last song I never replaced the album. I still think it's going to skip at the 6:30 mark.
Today, black music makes me think of gangster things because of the rap music full of obscenities and ofenses towards police and government authorities.
@tedokoye Obviously it does if black music is as unique and different from latin, country, pop, and on down the line.....I think we as black folks express ourselves in different ways than other cultures, thats why we have the rythym and soul we have!! To deny its blackness, is and would be a genocide and tragedy!
I'm white and I do love the black music of yesterday because I understand what they sing, what they express (I'm not a native speaker of English). There are some songs sung by Michael Jackson I really don't understand what he says unless I pick up the lyrics on the internet. Like they say, "oldies are golden". GILBERTO SAUGEN - BRASIL
@gsaugen You have to listen to Real Hip Hop Gilberto...that's all. Whats on the radio today is not real hip hop. Anyways..this is a Classic and im loving this. Takes me back to the barbeque's my dad used to have back then and just having a beautiful time with family. I wish i could get those days back. This is what O'Jay's music do for me each and everytime.
@iamDamitaJo -- I miss that golden age of black music! Although I'm white I even change my hair into an African style-curly hair just to imitate my Afro- American, Motown Records idols! Fancy that, against all existing racism, I wanted to be black one day. GILBERTO SAUGEN from Brazil
quem viveu esta época pode constatar o poder da musica no tempo, a musica suvenirs do grupo voyage tambem dos anos 70, tem uma defifição do que estou falando. Abraços a quem tem esta sensibilidade.
So, I am sure there are still talented musicians in Philly and Detroit, so why isn't this kind of music being made today instead of gangsta rap !!!!!! The 70's and 80's had some great music........
The glorious 70's... 3 Day weeks, Power cuts, Strikes, Borstal........and yes tunes like this to shuffle away your cares, I was brought up in a Soulfull house and these great tunes are the Backdrop of my Childhood and give us joy in our lives
The thing you can say about Disco is that it got people out dancing. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday the clubs, bars, etc. were packed. People had a great time and got exercise (even if they didn't realize that what it was).
Dances actually had steps & even bad dancers could do them. You saw all ages and sizes out on the floor. It was fun.
OMG im a teen at Silver Blades again with Mark who i thought looked like Clark Gable and it's the one time i managed to skate round properley and this was playing.
