@iorch82 Ditto man, My girlfriend used to make me hear her albums all the time and if they sounded nearly as energetic as this one i would have not wanted to shoot myself everytime she put it on.
But i can't watch the video or i look at her bad teeth the whole time.
Does anyone have any tapes or anything from Glasto 99? There was a band on called Human Species and Imogen heap was the singer . . . can't remember what the song was called but I remember "I see only what I wanna see" any info would be much apppreciated. It's little known but a beautiful song.
@jomcjackson They were called "Urban Species" and the song is called Blanket. It got released on the Japanese reissue of Imogen's first album iMegaphone if you're looking for the song itself. I'm afraid I don't have any footage of the show. I'd love to see that myself! Hope that helps. :)
One more thing, those that dislike her vocals on this performance must not be familiar with her vocal style. She uses an unusual inflection that makes her songs unique and IMO very emotive.
Wow, a lot of negative comments down at the bottom. This video has been around for several years on Youtube from various users (thanks) and I keep coming back and listening ever so often. Great song and performance and for the record I think this blows away the studio version, but I'm waaay partial to live performances on most anything. Love the hat and Texas sunglasses and the energy that can't be reproduced in the studio.
you fricking idiots this is a live performance with live feelings, emoitions its as it was at that moment not rerecorded in a studio you numptys dont get it or will ever get it i feel sorry for you! and P.S i was there it was fooking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems that many cannot appreciate a live performance. The quirks, flaws, goofs, are real, but so is the emotion of the moment. These criticisms are those of whom a live performance has not been made, nor whom we will never see. This is outstanding for all the reasons some find to criticize. YOu want perfect, go watch videos.
The one thing you should know about the studio version is that Beth Orton always uses a hell of lot of reverb on her vocals. This though isn't that bad.
If i where you I wouldn't listen to bob dyland, mick jagger or pink floyd because their voices aren't note perfect either. and they sometimes look scruffy
OR you can start understanding that live music isn't about vocal perfection or fashion. Its about saying something important, rocking out and reaching a place inside of people nobody else can go to.

jeez i never thought her voice and appearance would suck like that i mean really.. whats up with her glasses and that hat?? looks like shit to me honestly. and what happened at 2.27? after that her voice goes down down down..
i love beth

This interpretation is so full of energy. I'd rather go with this version instead of the studio one at any time.

Ahh I was there! sitting down having a smoke in amongst a standing crowd. Last true Glasto IMO. The spirit of Mrs. Eavis was present for sure.
It's for the middle classes now. No room for freeloaders! Shame.

Got t agree .... her voice actually comes on at 2.27 as she relaxes in to it more. Still I'd listen to her singing the weather forecast!

Totally agree pofsen. Am quite shocked at how poor her vocal is on this. very poor indeed!

Hm, I like the studio version more. Her voice doesn't sound good - in my opinion.
BUT GREAT SONG!!!
