  • ce système me parait pas bon lui seul je préfère les obus guider par laser mais si les 2 système sont utiliser en meme temp ca peut etre dévasteur mais aussi tre cher

  • im in the army on a Q37 radar and this thing is dogshit compaired to the Q37

  • I'm joing the Royal Australian Artillery as a Weapon Locating Radar Operator so this video was great to see what sort of equipment I'll be using.

  • this is so cool. Looks like an AWACS for artillery lol

  • what does he say at 2:09? "the mobility of the system enables arthur to operate close to the foward line of own troops or XXXXXXX" It sounds like "flots".

  • what i tried to say is what good does it do, if you locate the Russian Smerch for instance, and you have the location of it and it is 90 km away..you gonna hit that with what exactly??? Tomahawk missile? .. Tanguska can destroy that shit, with airforce, S-300, 400 can destroy Air force.. soo, .. again, what good is it to know where the arty is if you can't hit it?

  • @Sarasu23

even if you can't strike you now KNOW that you can't. knowing where your enemy is always half "victory". You now got what you need to make a decision to regroup of some style or another that is if you can't strike you can always make the attempt to save your forces.

  • @pingyamein And how long will it take the "remote spy robots" to detect where the enemy artillery unit is located?

ARTHUR does it within seconds, which enables friendly artillery to fire at that location before the enemy rounds have even hit the ground.

  • @pingyamein Spy drones work good for giving a peek on the opponents positions, but as heavy artillery are more mobile now, you also need a fast and continuous updates of enemy artillery position.

  • @pingyamein NATO doesn´t agree with you. :)

  • @pingyamein

    LMAO THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!!!!

  • sweden got the best military equpment hooaah longe leve sweden and i am a luck that i live in that country no war sins 200 years ^-^

  • germany has this too but now additional 14 cobra radars

  • I wonder how this does in the field, heared that we have one one lone to the americans in the gulf

  • The US and allies used several units extensively during the Iraq invasion and it had a spotless performance.

  • Spotless eh? Singapore is deploying a team to Kamp Holland, Tarin Kowt, A-stan. Hope it save lives.

  • OIF stripped norway and sweden of every ARTHUR we had :-) They all went on loan to the US and the Britts.

  • Can you repeat that so it makes sense?

  • the only problem is the range.. i mean 15 km??? what are you going to do with an artillery piece that is 30 km away or 60 km?? .. or 90 as the russian smerch can cover??? no point in knowing where the artillery is when you can't hit it..

  • The ability to hit back is totally dependent on what kind of weapons you have. If you have something that can hit an enemy unit 90km away then you can try to shoot back.

The problem with calculating trajectories do of course increase the further away the firing units is located.

The 15km number was not range, it was the British requirement for finding the enemy artillery's location within 75 meters.

  • also it only needs to spot the round

after spotting the round it can then calculate where the shell came from

    the range is literally irrelevant

the shell just need to be within a 15 km range (if that is the max range)

  • @Scurck Well, at least it gives some kind of data in case of being shot at from 90km range. Like at least some kind of coordinates where the attack came from and if situation allows, air forces can on from this point and do theyr best. Better than nothing.

  • @Sarasu23

It is a front line radar...

  • @Sarasu23 15km is enough for all 105, 122mm howtizers and for all mortars up to 120mm except russian Tulpan 240mm...but that 15km is ehoug to track up to 20km range weapons coz you have its trajectory and balistic computer make its trail....

  • Sweden devlop alot of high tech weapons but the sad truth is that our government cut the defense budget and the number of conscripted males has been reduced dramatically.

    R.I.P Swedish military!

  • @beginmaster You can defend against Russia. and nobody in EU will just look like the Russians invade you.

  • cool, sweden rules. I`m gonna buy me one

  • Fighting wars against Sweden has always been great fun - ask the Russians and the Germans.

Besides ARTHUR, Sweden disposes of Swedish made stealth subs and corvettes, Swedish made EXCALIBUR grenades, Swedish made JAS fighter planes etc, etc, etc.

    We are prepared.

  • Radar made in Sweden.

  • works fine. america borrowed every unit the norwegian army had when the latest debacle in the gulf started...

  • Now that's DEFINITELY gonna come in handy.

  • Awesome piece of weaponry, although personally I would feel like a sitting duck running this equipment. Subject to any sniping unit with a .50 caliber rifle....

    Good post!!

  • Älvdalen, tränglset, minnen :)

  • aaah, old memories

  • does it play dvd s?

  • and popcorns ive tried it it does!

  • sweet, i want one

    no butter lol

  • Worlds 1st mobile stand alone weapon locator? I think not - Green Archer did this in the 60's.

  • Some "secret" nations "borrowed" some Arthurs from Sweden for use in Irak and other countries since they thougt this was the best system avalible on the market...

PS, what do USA have... :-)

  • Then its just a matter of time usa copy it and say its their own invention, like excalibur. Why pay for patents etc when you rule the world?

  • the truck is an UNIMOG 1500 or so from germany. and its crappy at being an ARTHUR truck, 3 years ago we crashed one in a corner, because its natural point of balance is pretty poor it cant handle steep angels and tight turns, so we fitted it to a MAN 27 6x6 insted wich is much better. by we i mean the Danish army.

  • radar

  • The Swedes designed, tested and evaluated it. Little brother Norway followed suit as usual. Arthur is nuttin' new - it's just a different way of locating and 'neutralizing' long range targets. The Swedes are far in that development.

  • There was a Russian ARSON in the early 60s,but only for mortar mines, and,of course, with no such multi purpose capabilities. And besides it was in servise for a short time.

  • is it norwegian's that made this vehicle?

  • The radar is from Ericsson and the tracked vehicle is from Hägglunds, both are Swedish companies. I don't know about the truck, but I don't think you make trucks in Norway. Norway hepled to fund the project and becuse of that had some say as to how they wanted it. My guess is because Ericsson needed a NATO country to certify it for NATO use already in the development stage.
