Bah, Who needs lyrics after you've been inducted into the National Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame, been asked to endorse GHS banjo strings and considered an Icon of tenor banjo/dixieland jazz?...the list goes on. I'll eat my shoe if this man hasn't forgotten more songs and lyrics than I've learned.
I recently watched 'The Five Pennies' and so searched Lullaby in Ragtime. I have listened to Eddie Davies playing his Banjo many times in the past two weeks. I love, love, love it, and as someone else has said,he portrays a wonderful enjoyment of playing and singing. It makes all of us wish we could play an instrument with such pleasure. As an English person I hadn't heard of Eddie Davies, this I will rectify!
Before reseaching "Eddy Davis" I thought he was just someones grandpa sitting around playing a banjo. I must say though, that even before I know he was of well acclaim his style of music and voice struck a chord with me. I have recently puchased a banjo and will start lessons within a week. I hope I can find some of Eddy's music to learn to play. This style fits me to a tee.
This is BEGGING to be tabbed out for tenor! Can't figure it all out from Eddy's fingers unfortunately. Beautiful!

Eddy is an awesome banjo player! I love his relaxed and easy going style. He is a true professional, and makes his banjo playing look effortless.

I play a 10-string mandoloncello and I want to learn this song. I think this video will help me a lot! You're playing tenor tuning, right?
Thanks for posting this.

I too thought it was a grandapa at home.
What I liked more than anything
was when watching Ory's Creole Banjo and
seeing the joy he was getting from playing.
It made me think "this is a guy I would
really like to know" He seemed so happy.
The banjo stuff was just stuff.
I wished everyone had something that gave
them the joy he gets from performing.

Great song. It totally makes me want to give up the five-strings and pick up a tenor banjo.
