I got an iphone 3G and tried this. I got Blackra1n on my comp, clicked make it rain and it said "entering recovery mode" and forced me to restore my iphone. When it finally restored, blackra1n wasn't on the phone.

Any ideas what I should try?

I followed the easy instructions to jailbreak my new iphone3gs and thanks for sharing this video. I could see the blackra1n icon on my iphone but when I click on it, it says " Please check your internet connection", however the internet is connected and the browser seems to be working fine. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

@aakbar3022 Hey there, I've never encountered the problem before. I would recommended doing a restore in iTunes and trying the whole process again. Something may have gone wrong during the install and by doing a fresh one you will be able to determine that.

Thank you for such a nice simple presentation to jailbreak. I had to do it a couple of times before I was successful to jailbreak my new iphone 3gs. I got the blackra1n icon on my iphone as shown in your video, but when I click on it, it says "Please check your internet connection", therefore I'm unable to download any freebies even after jailbreak. @dre6072 It sure does, it works with any iPhone with 3.2.1 firmware installed on it. You can check that information in your iPhones general settings or in iTunes.

@jvmadria yes, you can jailbreak even if you're on contract. In fact, that's pretty much the whole idea. This way you will have way more functions than a standard iPhone 3GS.

However, if you are asking me this because you are trying to switch services the answer is still yes. You could jailbreak and start using your phone with verizon or t-mobile but you would still be paying for ATT if you don't cancel that service.

I would defiantly recommend this method, I jailbroke my ipod a while back using redsn0w, and it took like an hour or so, it was a LOT of rebooting and loading, and making sure the right files are in the right place, it worked, but it was a lot of work...

sense I restored it, but yesterday I got tired of how unorganized the homescreen was, so I jailbroke it using this method in like 30 seconds, it was amazing! and eaassy

anyways, so yeah, now I have that folders app, and my homescreen is clean!
