Just to finish a thought, there are thousands of Green Berets, Seals and Marine Force Recon, but there are only 300 Pararescue Jumpers work cover the globe and have been heavily involved in every conflict since WWII. The motto says it all "It is my duty as a PARARESCUEMAN to save life and aid injured. I will be prepared at all times to perform my assigned duties quickly and efficiently, placing these duties before personal desires and comforts. These things I do, that others may live."

To clarify, PJs spend 2 years in training through the pipeline called "Superman School". They are as highly trained in combat as every special operations teams, in addition they must also receive and remain certified as a trauma paramedic. They are the single most dangerous, highly trained paramedics in the world who jump with weapons and surgery kits, anywhere to rescue US servicemen and humanitarian missions all over the world from jumping behind enemy lines to rescuing earthquake victims.

What will happen is that you sign up for para-rescue, wash out of the school (like 90% do).

You end up being stationed 100's of miles from home to some boring job or you go to a combat role, get your ass shot off and end up living the rest of your life financially destitute and wheel chair bound or spun in the head(PTSD), sometimes both.

The VA medical system sucks.

They like to leave that part out.

@ARMA365 ur really really right!, but i really like it my cousins are marine corps and they have told me that the air force is the best job u can get in the armed forces,and that when ur done with that he says that u end up with some great careers, cause if u join the army or smthin ur dead, and my mom really agreed to that thanks to him i can join:)

@drothefuture I was at Lackland in 81. I was in Security Police training. The Pj's would be out Running in the Morning, the Afternoon, at night, in my Sleep. The Drill Instructors would some time let them stop running. It was then they started doing push ups. This is some intense Physical, Emotional, Medical, and Weapons training. You knew when You Met someone that was a Pj. They are special. If you fail one aspect of Pj training, its over for you. Back to the Regular AF.
