Good Point beachthedestroyer. No way can you damage slate by lightly tapping a ball. We play competition on these tables for 3 or 4 days straight. If it was damaging to the tables, it would not be allowed.
This is truly a great video. I would love anything in the world to get in that tournament, last year I tried to get into the artistic pool champiionship 2007 and I really wanted to get there. This year It's just one of those times when you HAVE to get there.

go get some slate and try to make an indentation on it by lightly tapping it with a pool ball

Its sets the balls into the felt so that they are "frozen" into that spot and are less likely to move prior to the shot.
