What is it with Chopin´s music? Would it be a fair statement to say that all or most of his music is love oriented? All different types of love: nostalgic love, unrequited love, promised glories of love, furious love, deep throbing love, and so on? I am aware that words and emotions are on different levels, but sometimes u want to cut through the marrow trying to find out about the mystery lying behind the iridescent marvellousness of Chopin´s music.

Ora pollini suona diversamente da quando era ragazzo...ho sentito le incisioni dello chopin che lui ha vinto, bè il suono era diverso...meno metallico(cioè non in senso negativo nel senso più morbido), poi anche la mano..è diversa...sembra che ora la tenga più impostata...quand'era più giovane suonava con meno attenzione alla posizione.

Hi, Pollini' s disk in the 70's was amoung my 1st Chopin records. And it is still amoung the best stuff ever banned to a black disk, esp. No.22 to 24 are hard to beat. He's never too fast - as many others - he is always so incredible powerful & precise. This life performance is as good as the old one. I expected to see more "action", but as usual Pollini acts well-controlled, no extra show, pure music. There is no real alternative (Argerich, Kissin, Gilels,..). Sometimes one performance fits.

No, there a TWO scripts of this note, really. Depends on the edition. Its finally not clear, which solution Chopin preferred, when i remember this discussion right.

yeap.... But there are some editions which have it like this. The are also other cords of this prelude which are different in various editions.

Bravo!! Una grande interpretazione....però penso che il preludio 20 sia un pochino veloce...io l'avrei suonato (anzi, l'ho fatto) più ritenuto. Ha un bellissimo stile, stupendi gli altri!!!

He has a habit of continually clipping the beat. It starts to get a little annoying after a while

appreciate his emotion. I think he has that uncontrolled emotion at times. he might not be that calculated musician.. he is a true artist. his sound is so great

I think it's just his style of playing. So, I guess I just read it differently. He doesn't always do it, but makes me sit on edge sometimes when I really want to feel more reposeful as in the 23rd prelude. There's no doubt that Pollini has a huge sound and great tone. He also is amazing with big structured works and manages to hold them together like a great work of art stands alone as a statement of the artist's talent and vision.

a me i Notturni di Pollini paiono i migliori sulla piazza. Gli unici a competere, in quanto a profondità di visione, sono François e Arrau. Rubinstein ne offre una lettura molto bella, ma piuttosto soggettiva, solare. Non critico la soggettività, ci mancherebbe, ma Pollini mi pare il perfetto punto d'incontro tra interpretazione ed esecuzione di quanto è scritto sulla partitura. Dire di Pollini che sia antimusicale o freddo, è una enorme fesseria. Ascoltino la sua sonata op.111 (Beethoven).

Mi sono sepmre chiesto del perchè noi italiani siamo incapaci di dare il meglio di se. Pollini ci dimostra il contrario. Un vero esempio di internazionalità vivente. Alla pari dei grandissimi come Horowitz, Sokolov, Rubistein, Richter e altri.
