hahaha i love that girl in the purple i the middle. So funny. either her head is detached because she has run her hands through her hair so many times, or she really wants dave's attention; good or bad. lol i love DMB!
It's great to watch footage of old school DMB... so nice to see them in their happy beginnings. Wow...who would've guessed everything that has come since then, both the good and the tragic. Love my DMB. Thanks to whoever captured this & to the person who shared it.
This is so mind blowing... Peter on the keyboard adds a very very cool touch to this song i havnt heard before. Even back then you could tell this band had something really special. Thank you sooooo much whoever taped this historic event for all of us to see and appreciate today.....This could have been lost in history but instead it will live on for eternity! Peace.Love.DMB!
I believe the keyboard player is Peter Grieser. He had left the band before they made it big. It's interesting to see how much the band has grown since this show. Great band, great song!
oh to be at this concert! I havent ever been that close to them. There are people just walking by!.. How do you just walk past dave Matthews!!! I bet you Dave still has that Sweater lol.
I actually got the pleasure of meeting Dave personally... I got word he was recording in Sausalito at "The Plant" studios.. So my wife and I went there.. he walked out of his RV - I ran up to him and introduced myself... He's the nicest guy.. and taller than you'd think. We talked for about 4 or 5 minutes, he said he had to pee and be right back, then sent his bodyguard to tell me and my wife that we had to leave as to not draw attention to where DMB was recording. :) Awesome experience!
It's so weird to think that at this point in their life, they were living in normal houses, living like normal people and everything...Now, Carter owns a mansion with like a bunch of insane cars and Dave's got a nice little home in Seattle with his family and ROi....RIP roi =( So weird....
this stuff is so awesome im so happy u posted it. It's so surreal to witness them in a totally different light--u can tell they are going to be so big --larger than life even-- and its only a matter of time at that point
I saw him at Sweetbriar college solo (the girl he was dating at the time went there). But while they totally deserve the success they achieved I miss the old days when he was an undiscovered gem with a cult following.. We could see him at Millers everyonce in a while..
@Stouggies Van Ripers was a big stop for several years for DMB. been following since and while I am sure DMB lost a few early fans, anyone who appreciates the genius that is their music has only grown to love them more now close to 20 years later. I for one think they have only gotten better every single time I have heard them live. (oh, and I hired them in college before they hit it big) And lover lay down may be my favorite song of all time...it's certainly top 3.
i still like him see them whenever I can. I just found these videos, lovin it, thanks for uploading. Did you tape them? I loved vanrypers. warren haynes, widespread panic damn! good! times!
amazing footage! what a diamond in the rough, woh would have thought...but his voice does not sound as great as it would in the future, it seems about 80% of as good as it gets
What are those people on? I want some! XP

That would have been crazy to be in Charlottesville in the early 90's...
Everytime I go to a bar to watch a band I think about all the lucky people that saw DMB before they were popular.

I can't believe they've been together for almost 20 years! 1991 was the best year for music. DMB was born.
