Nissan and Toyota already have affordable superior cars with better mileage in the works. The consumer demographic that is interested in "eco" cars can't afford the $40K Volt.
If someone has money, then they'll go wit the Tesla Model S that blows the Volt away, and the Model S isn't from a failing auto company that sucks up billions of our tax dollars.
i agree, chevy is going down, and toyota and honda do have "superior" cars coming up, but since the chevy volt is coming out so early, it is a good token for cars innovation. when was the last time you saw a hybrid-electric car that wasn't 100,000 frikin dollars?
racer4nfs: The Tesla Model S isn't $100K. You must be thinking of the Tesla Roadster. The Model S is a sedan that will cost $49K (with tax credit), and it will be available early 2011.
