  • no wonder its long nose hood!

  • seems they mixed the steel with concrete..

  • its probably that massive engine tahht takes most of the impact XD lol

  • LOL reminds me of watching rosco P coltrane smash into trees/rivers/etc in these cars every friday night back in the 80s

  • Lmfao safer than a modern car

  • No, not really.Modern cars intentionally crumple up in the front, using the engine bay to dissipate the shock before it reaches the cabin. That passenger would have suffered injuries, despite the lack of intrusion, Also, that car is as 4,000+ LB behemoth, and best compared to something like a Crown Victoria or SUV, not a Civic or Focus.

  • @Manimal347

considering it was the first year for the b-body fury, i have to say it did fairly well. at least the passenger didnt merged with the dashboard. what do you pointing at exactly? was that unintentional crumpling?

would be interesting to see an offset frontal test. or the big rig c-body gran fury.

  • @Manimal347 by that time in '78, most auto makers were using crumple sheet metal. in '73front/74 rear bumpers were mandated for low speed bumps, striagten back out and not damage the body, drivtrain or exhaust only to crumple inward at faster speeds. modern body, frames absorb or distribute in impact todays dsigns are nothing they even would dream of back then.
