The Lord Jesus is our Saviour, the Saviour of our souls. There is no other Saviour. You only have this lifetime to make the decision. Please make it - turn to Him today, ask Him into your life to be your Saviour. Jesus died to give us eternal life - 'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' Romans 6:23
wow, you must think you are so great trying to convince people to become atheist. the day is coming when you will realize the error of your ways. disgusting
Wow, not a lot of understanding here is there. Alright that's cool, you're entitled to your opinion but maybe you could lay off the whole religion is evil thing and I won't call you guys godless heathens because aminbody was very uncouth by stating that religious persons have a mental illness.
I always find that "heart" thing funny, because in Indonesia or Malaysia they said they feel or love with their liver. "I love you with all my liver" kind of thing. But yeah, if that lady is getting chest pains she should see a specialist..
@kevincc13 or even better: belief in something in that is in *direct conflict* with provided reason and evidence. (e.g. hearts having minds of their own)
Atheists aren't willing to question?!? Religion demands blind faith with out evidence! William Lane Craig said he'd still believe in the resurrection even if he'd been there when they laid Jesus's body in the tomb and camped outside the tomb for a month and nothing happened! Richard Dawkins never said: "I'd still doubt God's existence, even if I witnessed an obvious miracle!" Theists have no idea how fragile our disbelief is, one genuine miracle would destroy it.
@RadarKat73080 yeah i said the exact same thing. she says atheists aren't willing to question?? um, they do in fact question, that's actually one of the reasons that the former believers who host this show became atheists. and like you said, she's advocating for a religion that actually disallows you from questioning. AND, if/when you do question, you immediately become subject to an eternity of torture. i dont know how we can fix a world that apologizes for this kind of shit. it needs to end.
@seanmathews009 Actually, I have it on good authority; several theists, that hell is eternal separation from God. So, it's exactly the way life is now, apparently. Hmmm? You feel any different? Me either.
im agnostic kinda more athiest, but i fucking hate religion, if ur gunna believe in a god dont make up ur own rules about it for other people to swear by when all they have to go on is your rules
I love how this woman says she's trying to be pathetic but then turns rude really quickly. I find Christians do that all the time--they give themselves a lot of leeway but don't allow it to anyone else.
I set out on a spiritual quest probably 7 or 8 years ago, I studied just about every major religion out there, I tried to believe them, Ive also studied many different scientific fields, however, after time, if youre an intelligent person, you will come to the conclusion there is no god, if you step back and understand as many things as you can about how things work, creation of the solar system, billions of suns, eons of time....you'll come to the same conclusion
So scary!!!! All christians need to be held accountable for fundamentalists like this. This cannot be allowed to continue. These people are a danger to themselves and others and by the way are fuckin ruining the world! They polute the minds of the weak, and are trying to polute the minds of innocent children, who are inherently weak minded because they are still learning! It is so frustrating that because a person is weak they feel the need to push there crazy nonsense on others.
To live, not waste time trying to figure out it's meaning
Theres a lot of shit that happened before you were born and there will be a lot of shit that will happen after your dead...so live your life to the fullest
Why am I here?
Cause everyone else that would have been "you" isn't..you mom and dad got together "you" were born and your experiences made "you" you
@goreziad yes and according to matt and beth (they talk about it in episode 721), she was the one who made this poe call and was put up to it by Russel in an attempt to see if Matt could spot a troll. It was how they met supposedly.
Perhaps it was a different call but I believe they were referring to this one.
@goreziad ah, it appears I was incorrect. it was not THIS female caller but a different call from episode 563 made famous by youtube clips which can be found here:
"What if you are wrong?" The one thing we can say is that Christianity is definitely wrong. When Christianity was the dominant paradigm, life was brutal, totalitarian, and anti-intellectual. As we questioned and disolved religion's hold, we grew in knowledge and ability thanks to that knowledge. To place such ability in the hands of people who refuse to use the knowledge gained in attaining that ability is insanity.
If Atheist are wrong, then the universe is run by a MONSTER who has nothing to keep him in check when he goes off and kills millions because he isn't pleased when he was formally please with his creations. And saw that it was good then he didn't and could see all anyway.
@Protoman85 My point is as this video or another states is Atheist normally dont have the same hate for gays and women because they dont have a religion telling them to. No its not an idea or policy we all have to follow but
@Thekiddwiththeface1 Atheist moral values? Why would they be much different? Just throw in rights for women, gays and no burning for eternity when you die
Since humans stepped out of the caves, we were constantly expanding our circle of love to include more people. We now reject genocide, racism and incest, things common centuries ago. We're in a crucial point in our development. Becoming completely spiritual by rejecting all selfish instincts and materialism is the next step. Rejecting Jesus, which represents 100% love, as a role model, is a step back for our consciousness. The time has come to raise our consciousness to the next level. Wake up!
this is a perfectly valid line of reasoning to his belief in atheism. Is that a problem? Just because you dont agree doesnt mean you have to go at it or hound them be accepting (like your religon says to be hint hint) and let them believe as they wish to. Now as an added question i personally am christian and am curious as to what makes athiests believe in moral codes such as killing is bad? Not trying to say youre wrong or ignorant here just curious is all.
There is 3 errors on the pascal wager: the obvious soundness of the argument is one - an argument could be logicaly valid, but not sound. A second one is, he forget some possibility - who say the bible is the only truth source? Maybe atheist who been good goes to paradise under a "Saint-Thomas clause". Who know? So, there is more possibility, it's not a relation that should be put on a two by two table. The 3rd one is authenticity - ain't god suppose to know what you think?
The flying spaghetti monster sends theists to double-hell to burn for double-eternity. Can't take the risk of the Flying spaghetti monster existing! Better be an atheist.
@rkyeun I don't think it's better or worst... As long as you think logicaly and take care of other human - I mean, the Pantheism seen in some form of Hinduism (like Vaishnavism) or Budhisim seem quite good given the enviroment in Asia and the time they came around.
I just think you give a really good answer to the wrong question ;)
Pascal's wager is based on the idea that even though the chance of God existing is miniscule, since the reward and punishment are infinite, any sliver of chance God might exist is sufficient to make it a good bet.
So I turn the tables. After all, when you gamble, the house always wins. So the Flying Spaghetti Monster cares about rationality, and if you believe in any religion he'll send you to double-hell, neatly negating and overpowering the original bet, in favor of atheism.
@rkyeun I did not want to talk about game theory... I disagree on the point that it's suppose to be a normal game, but an extensive-form game with a strong degree of unperfect information. After all, belief should be seen as probability, not an absolute, sens we are in "math". If one would use the Perfect Bayesian equilibrium with that correction, atheist could go to heaven, and Christian could go to Naraka. It's just weird to explain and would show how silly the wager is ;)
It is amazing how christians always pick what they want out of the 'old testament', and disregard the rest?
Either the bible is the infallible word of god, or it is a book which one may pick out ideals that suit them, and laws/statutes which don't suit them are said to be 'Old, and thrown out with the trash!
@zaph1987 Perhaps I miss understood you. You mentioned scientists having theories and your reference to the word as a hypothesis or guess. In that case a scientist would use hypothesis instead of theory. Gravity, relativity and evolution or are not hypothesizes, they are theories.
I could be wrong but using the faculties i have and the information i have found or been given, my best guess is religions are nonsense, and to live my life believing in nonsense would be truly wrong.
@zaph1987 exist. Atheism is a response to theist claims. It is not claim or a certainty that God does not exist. It is only a response to a positive claim.
@zaph1987 But you are using the term "theory" in reference to the scientific community like it's a guess. An applied scientific theory is what the scientific community's ultimate goal is. You don't consider the the theory of gravity a "guess" do you? Also, I am not making a positive claim that God does not
@jdale1 I am using the term "theory" instead of "scientific theory" because a scientific theory means an explanation for a scientific fact whereas a theory in general usage is just a hunch. Therefore me saying those are my theories is not incorrect, however if I claimed they were "scientific theories" I would need some rock solid proof and equations for this "scientific theory". I do not have this proof or equations therefore they are just hunches a.k.a. theories :)
Wrong? Or just plain stupidity! It take a designer to create a machine (right)!!!.Who designed the universe. Intelligent molecular structure that came from nothing...The most absurd, ridiculous belief system i've ever heard ((Atheism)) More like just senseless rebellion!
@zaph1987 with a applied methods from scientific laws until they become theories. Atheism is not an inability to make up one's mind. Neither is Agnosticism. Fundamentally, both are a response to positive claims. Theists make a positive claim for the existence of a deity or deities. The Atheist and even the Agnostic rejects the claim because it has not met a burden of proof. Only when the response takes on a ngostic tone can one attempt a positive claim, again burden of proof.
@jdale1 Ok well where is the burden of proof on atheists and scientists, they claim to have a theory with no certain proof, so they are just in the same boat as theists. And i do not claim certainty of god, i am open to the idea of being wrong, if you were to show me proof beyond a doubt that there is no god and we came from a big explosion, then ok i would believe you....until then i choose to believe what i believe just like you choose to believe what you do, nothing wrong with either :)
@zaph1987 Although the Big Bang is not a theory yet, it is the most plausible explanation that science can attempt to answer. Because of the knowledge we currently posses, it is widely accepted as the best likely scenario for the creation of the universe in the scientific community. The scientific theories of gravity, relativity, evolution etc. all began with applied
What if the christians are wrong why dont we forget all faiths, work on what we know, we as people make a better world by what we know & can prove I was a christian when I was a kid but got older & questioned God & faith & did not see the point in waiting for someone else to help me. peope shoud help themselfs, stop fighting over things we cannot prove just because it gives you comfort in filling gaps we dont know, science does not now everything but its fair to say it does not know nothing.
Oh and i'm not Christian. Funny, an atheist show that seems to always wanna discuss God. Why? Do I sit around with my friends and talk about atheists all day? No. Why? Because i'm not obsessed with this shit.
@DemonicPuppet83 They probably do it because it's an atheist show. An Atheist is a person who doesn't believe in God. If they weren't talking about Gods, and their lack of belief in them, then it wouldn't be an atheist show, it would be a sports show, or a philosophy show, or whatever else they found to talk about -show. The whole point of an Atheist show is to talk about the idea of atheism.
@SupDudewazgood, ahhh, you just indirectly hit the nail on the head. Most atheists online love to make fun of anyone who believes in God. They talk shit and spam and try to explain why you're stupid. Knowing full well that they would NEVER say that shit to our faces inn real life. But hey, it's the internet. It's your GOD given right to be a little punk. Remember that. :)
@DemonicPuppet83 'Knowing full well that they would NEVER say that shit to our faces inn real life.' Of you would make ridiculous claims based on religion to enforce laws on all non-Christians I would point out the many flaws in your religion in real life. I would not ridicule you since that serves no point, I would point out your faulty logic and evidence.
These guys are inspiring. This is wonderful. Thanks guys for helping me better understand Christianity and religion and helping me to make my own educated decision on the matter.
i dont get it??? how is religon poison how is it a disease yet atheism has the same overall ideas none can be proven wrong nor can one be proven right so please explain to me how theism is so stupid where as atheism is so similar SO IT IS A DEADLOCK DICK HEADS NO MORE ARGUEMENTS PLEASE COME ON IM A CHRISTIAN WITH ATHEIST FRIENDS WE HAVE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT IT BUT WE DONT CALL EACH OTHER BRIANLESS OR SAYING THAT WE ARE DISEASED OR SOMETHING LIVE AS 1
omg I JUST LOVE how this athesit consercatism is flagging everyone who was a theism commet just flags them as spam so my therory is that u cant handle some1 different from him self thatt why u strive for eveything the same because u guys are too insucure about themselves that u have to make up pathetic exuses that with simple sience can be esaily be proven wrong the same with theism so i my self a christian admit that so why just we cant live in DAM HARMONY U ASS WHIPES I MEAN COME ON!!
So sad, how easy we were indoctrinated by such a a messed up book. Religious people always turn to the negative accusation against atheist. Never fails. Too many religious people have no idea what the Bible really says or means. They also have no intention of following it. They focus on the magic, say things they do not mean and basically, we were brainwashed to just spew out explanations we don't question at all. When people realize this fact, and get tired of it, they reject all religion.
ok now let me explain folks for ya here. I can feel my ass hurt if I am kicked in it, but if my ass hurts cause I am kicked in it, and I say i believe that I have ass cancer because my ass hurts even though I know I have been kicked in it and I go to the doctor, and he shows me proof shows me other wise, and I deny it out right, despite the physical and scientific evidence ! doesn't make it true that I have ass cancer and it isn't then a fact because I feel that way. you fuckin Christan idiot !

Atheism. The belief that there was nothing and nothing happened to nothing and then nothing magically exploded for no reason, creating everything and then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason what so ever into self-replicating bits which then turned into dinosaurs. Makes perfect sense.
@ProTuner06 Christianity; The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. Makes perfect sense.
@itsallepidemicrodney There's no magic involved and i couldn't help but giggle at the manner set up a straw-man out of the bible. You obviously have poor interpretational skills in terms of hermeneutics. I bet you believe some random explosion in space is responsible for humans, animals, fish, water, the four seasons, and the correct distance from the sun to prevent us from either freezing to death if we were one planet away, or burning to death if we were one planet closer to the sun.
@gimmethegepgun Get over what? My point is that the conditions on earth were optimized for sustainable life. You want me to accept that "it just happened", right?
@jabe55 The Earth was not optimized with us in mind, we evolved according to the conditions of the Earth.
If the Earth was incapable of sustaining anything resembling life (as we know it), there wouldn't be life (as we know it) here.
There are other habitable planets out there. Humans, or something similar to one, probably would not have evolved there due to different conditions, but life still would.
@gimmethegepgun Maybe there are other habitable planets but let's focus on our planet for now. I believe everything happened because a greater power designed it that way, but you believe it just evolved by chance. You believe the bible is a work of fiction, but the fact remains that the bible's prophecies have mostly been fulfilled. It prophesied not being able to buy or sell unless you have a mark and we have micro-chips that will soon store all of our information, credit, everything.
@jabe55 Prophecies that are either ridiculously vague (like the one you just said) and can be easily interpreted to fit numerous things, or self-fulfilling prophecies, like the one that the Jews will return to Israel (it said they would, and so they made it happen, BECAUSE it said they would)
Also, the Earth is not exactly a well-designed environment for life, particularly not human life. Pretty terrible designer if it was made for us.
@gimmethegepgun Vague? How is something prophesied 2,000 years ago and being fulfilled in present time "vague". Is that what you think of the evidence if provide you with? Why waste my time debating with someone who considers facts as "vague". I know that you know there is a God, but you're just too damn rebellious to admit it. Maybe someone you loved or cared for died unnaturally and you asked yourself "where was God", i bet. If you don't like facts then i am wasting my time with you.
@jabe55 It's vague because that can be interpreted for a bunch of things. I could interpret that "prophecy" as meaning someone needed a tattoo, a badge, a license, or pretty much anything else that restricts who can buy or sell things.
Also, once you pull out the moronic "you know there's a god you just deny it" you prove you're an idiot with nothing left to say. Just so you know.
@gimmethegepgun Yes, except it states that in those days there will be a "one world order" and that is definitely the direction we're heading in. When you're done watching atheist videos, google "biblical prophecies fulfilled" and read the list of fulfilled prophecies and the list is growing more each day. I bet facts like these would be considered as "vague" to an idiot like you. The evidence speaks for itself. Whether you like it or not, you can't disprove facts or evidence. Bye child
@jabe55 How many biblical prophecies actually have a failure condition? Meaning there's something that could happen that makes the prophecy outright wrong? Like, for instance, a time limit on when it has to happen by?
The only one I'm aware of that had that is that Jesus said he would come back before the end of the generation. Oops.
And condescension definitely makes people want to listen to you, no doubt about it.
@gimmethegepgun Where does it state in the bible that Jesus would return before the end of that generation? I must have missed it! The book of Revelations speaks of the false prophet who will deceive many in to worshipping the beast and no one fits that role better than the pope himself. Listen, the prophecies are being fulfilled. Soon all arab nations will unite against Israel (like the bible predicted). You think those middle east riots and government overthrows are just coincidence?
@jabe55 Mark 13:30, after describing the end times throughout Mark 13.
"Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done." (KJV)
And, to more specifically link his return as happening before that, Mark 13:26: "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory."
So, a specific end date passed without the prophecy being fulfilled means the prophecy is a complete failure.
@gimmethegepgun Ahh! That passage! Ok. Did you read the whole context of that passage you just quoted? The context clearly identifies the generation who sees the prophecies of which he spoke fulfilled, not his current generation. Those who see the signs of the end times are the generation of which christ refers to. The reason so many false biblical teachings emerge is because of failure to read the bible in context, not just one text by itself. Does that makes more sense, sir?
@jabe55 Reading the entirety of Mark 13, he begins talking about the people in front of him, and never transitions to talking about any future generation, which would mean he's talking about the current one.
@gimmethegepgun No. At the inception of this chapter, his disciples clearly asked him: "what shall be the signs of the end"? Then he went on to say that there will be earthquakes in divers places around the world (that is being fulfilled), stars fall from the sky, (possibly meteors/comets) and these shall be signs of the end. Then he said "this" generation (which sees the fulfillment of these prophecies), not the current one shall not pass away. I am sorry but the context is very clear.
@jabe55 And yet throughout he was referring to the people in front of him and the things that happen to them, not a future generation.
Oh, and earthquakes aren't happening any more than they ever were. Humanity as a whole has a higher awareness of them due to the speed of modern communication.
@gimmethegepgun There is no way i will be able to convince you over youtube about something you refuse to believe. Please, be open-minded and check it out for yourself. Whether you're an atheist or creationist; i wish you the best.
@jabe55 Now, even if I grant that he was actually talking about a future generation, not the present one, it still is hardly better. It is now a prophecy with a bunch of fairly common hardships involved that has no criteria for failure. Meaning christians will spout about how the prophecy is being fulfilled/will be fulfilled for forever because there isn't anything that makes the prophecy actually fail.
This is one of the problems with nearly all biblical prophecies. No criteria for failure.
@gimmethegepgun That's not the problem. The problem is that no one reads the context of the text they are reading in to and the prophecies haven't failed so far. Jesus was known for speaking in parables to the scribes and pharisees who were equivalent to modern day jesuits who profess God but deny him with their works. The bible specifically speaks about one world order and how people will be micro-chipped like slaves on their right hands or foreheads. And this technology exists today.
@gimmethegepgun The passage referring to the micro-chip is in the book of revelations, not mark. Not by "my" criteria, but by the bible's own criteria God's claims have come to pass and prove the divinity of himself and his words (which have been fulfilled thus far). My own criteria means nothing if it doesn't stand in the light of facts. Clams and oyster shells have been found at mt. everest which testifies to the biblical flood of noah's time. These are the facts, not my own criteria.
@jabe55 I wasn't talking about Mark, I was assuming that you were talking about the "mark" you were referring to earlier.
Clams and oyster shells on Everest are testaments to crustal uplifting, not a flood.
Thing is, a prediction doesn't have any predictive power if there's nothing that can happen that would prove it wrong. The goalposts can always be pushed back with "it is gonna happen later". The very vast majority of the predictions in the bible are this way, and are thus worthless.
@jabe55 And, of course, the predictions are often extremely vague in wording, like your prediction of a "mark" needed to buy/sell things.
If he had said, for instance, "a piece of metal will be stuck in a person's hand that allows others to view the person's personal information" or something along those lines, along with an approximate timeframe for that happening, that would actually be impressive and have meaning.
@gimmethegepgun The timing is not as important as the message itself. I just provided you with examples of how the bible's accounts have been validated with history and current events and yet you still find ways to distort the prophecies messages when they are clear in what is going to happen. I can't force you to believe me. You have the freedom to be an atheist. I won't spend all day clarifying the facts for you, buddy. I have things to do. If you want the proof, then it is there.
@jabe55 Without timing, any prediction is void of value. Without details, the same.
Consider: If I had predicted that the Twin Towers would be attacked by several hijacked planes, but did not say when, would that be useful? People probably wouldn't even believe me if I couldn't give a timeframe, and aside from raising security measures, would not have been useful.
If I had predicted a major terrorist attack on 9/11/01, but not said where, that would also be pretty useless. cont...
@jabe55 ...cont. If that was all I said, that wouldn't even place it in a country, let alone NYC, and it gives no information as to the nature of the attack. It would similarly be useless and no one would believe me. This, however, has a higher level of specificity in the prediction (beyond the date) than most biblical predictions, and if I had said that months before it happened, people would have reason to believe me in the future when I said something, since the date was correct. cont...
@jabe55 However, if future predictions were of similar substance, they would still be useless since it doesn't give even close to enough information to be usable.
This is why predictions need specifics as to events and need decent timeframes. Which nearly everything in the bible lacks one or the other, often both.
@gimmethegepgun Where does it state in the bible that Jesus would return before the end of that generation? I must have missed it! The book of Revelations speaks of the false prophet who will deceive many in to worshipping the beast and no one fits that role better than the pope himself. @gimmethegepgun I am not asking you to agree with me, but i am asking that you take a look at the evidence with a critically open mind. I tried embracing the evolutionary paradigm, but the evidence was lacking and inconsistent; besides, i know there is a God. I just hope you don't find out you were wrong when it's too late. Really, I do.
@jabe55 My comment was a fecetious response to ProTurner06, who posted a chillingly ignorant comment. As for you and your hermeneutics, you think that interpretation makes sense of the biblical account of creation? If so, you go right ahead, it's of no consequence to me. Now, one of two things can be reasonably deduced from your comment; either you're being facetious too, or you are ignorant of the non-magical explanations for life on Earth. Which is it?
@itsallepidemicrodney And atheism....The lack of ability to make up ones mind..also most believe the big bang theory...lets look at that theory for a second...nothing was there, and then all of a sudden for no reason whatsoever nothing did nothing to nothing and something happened that made a big bang and all of a sudden BAM there is matter all over the place with planets and such.....Makes even more sense!!! Actually they have the same ammount of nonsense to both theories
@zaph1987 Firstly, you appear to be confusing atheism with agnosticism. As an atheist, my mind is clearly made up; until I come across convincing evidence, I do not believe in gods. Secondly, atheism and the big bang theory do not go hand in hand. Thirdly, and I base this on the only evidence I have, which is your comment, you appear almost completely unaware of what the big bang theory actually means. It certainly isn't what you describe.
@itsallepidemicrodney ya, my comment about the big bang is a joke lol, im just saying it doesnt sound any more illogical than a god does, and for you to say your mind is completely made up until there is proof showing you are wrong leads to show that your mind is not completely made up. I do not claim my mind is completely made up for there is no proof to any of these claims, I just believe what I choose to believe, just like the other 8 billion people on this planet :)
@zaph1987 I might say that my mind is made up that dragons do not exist. That doesn't mean that if one appeared one day, breathing fire and making a nuisance of itself, that I'd deny its existence. That's not how rational intelligence works. But until I see compelling evidence that dragons exist - more compelling than the evidence that they do not - it's perfectly logical for me to say my mind is made up; dragons do not exist. Exactly the same goes for gods.
@itsallepidemicrodney Yes it is logical to say your mind is made up I do not disagree, but to say it is completely made up implies that no matter what happens that is what you will believe. For instance, my mind is completely made up that I am a guy, meaning no matter what happens I will always believe and know that I am a guy because I have a penis...for if something is to be complete it is without anything missing (information, evidence, etc.)
@ExcaliburClan And taking everything literal on the internet is kind of your hallmark in life huh? SORRY that I forgot to put a LOL at the end of it so you would realize it was a joke....please forgive me master, what ever shall I do?!
@ProTuner06 That's not at all what current scientific cosmology says, straw man. And even if it did, does it make less sense than saying that an invisible avenger in the sky who rewards and punishes according to his whims created everything from nothing and that he'll one day come out of the sky to destroy the world? And that he had to sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule he himself made?
The thing that is supremely frustrating about these videos is that there is very little effort to stay on one point. The argument continually shifts and no philosophical or logical cons

RadarKat73080 2 months ago
@RadarKat73080 yeah i said the exact same thing. she says atheists aren't willing to question?? um, they do in fact question, that's actually one of the reasons that the former believers who host this show became atheists. and like you said, she's advocating for a religion that actually disallows you from questioning. AND, if/when you do question, you immediately become subject to an eternity of torture. i dont know how we can fix a world that apologizes for this kind of shit. it needs to end.

I used to be a Christian...
Then I actually read the Bible.
And I looked around and saw all this hate and war in the world.
And I saw all the seperation and hatred religion causes.
Then I read a history book and noticed how much horror religions have caused since the beginning.
Then I watch a video of Shirley Phelps on YouTube.
Then I realized Ethics and kindness is all we need to be good and peaceful.
Then I became an Atheist.

Now as an added question i personally am christian and am curious as to what makes athiests believe in moral codes such as killing is bad? There is 3 errors on the pascal wager: the obvious soundness of the argument is one - an argument could be logicaly valid, but not sound. A second one is, he forget some possibility - who say the bible is the only truth source? Maybe atheist who been good goes to paradise under a "Saint-Thomas clause". Who know? So, there is more possibility, it's not a relation that should be put on a two by two table. The 3rd one is authenticity - ain't god suppose to know what you think?
therrydicule 4 months ago
@therrydicule
It's even easier than that.
The flying spaghetti monster sends theists to double-hell to burn for double-eternity. Can't take the risk of the Flying spaghetti monster existing! Better be an atheist.
rkyeun 4 months ago
@rkyeun I don't think it's better or worst... As long as you think logicaly and take care of other human - I mean, the Pantheism seen in some form of Hinduism (like Vaishnavism) or Budhisim seem quite good given the enviroment in Asia and the time they came around.
I just think you give a really good answer to the wrong question ;)
therrydicule 4 months ago
@therrydicule
Pascal's wager is based on the idea that even though the chance of God existing is miniscule, since the reward and punishment are infinite, any sliver of chance God might exist is sufficient to make it a good bet.
So I turn the tables. After all, when you gamble, the house always wins. So the Flying Spaghetti Monster cares about rationality, and if you believe in any religion he'll send you to double-hell, neatly negating and overpowering the original bet, in favor of atheism.
rkyeun 4 months ago
@rkyeun I did not want to talk about game theory... I disagree on the point that it's suppose to be a normal game, but an extensive-form game with a strong degree of unperfect information. After all, belief should be seen as probability, not an absolute, sens we are in "math". If one would use the Perfect Bayesian equilibrium with that correction, atheist could go to heaven, and Christian could go to Naraka. It's just weird to explain and would show how silly the wager is ;)

jdale1 5 months ago
@zaph1987 But you are using the term "theory" in reference to the scientific community like it's a guess. An applied scientific theory is what the scientific community's ultimate goal is. You don't consider the the theory of gravity a "guess" do you? Also, I am not making a positive claim that God does not
jdale1 5 months ago
@jdale1 I am using the term "theory" instead of "scientific theory" because a scientific theory means an explanation for a scientific fact whereas a theory in general usage is just a hunch. Therefore me saying those are my theories is not incorrect, however if I claimed they were "scientific theories" I would need some rock solid proof and equations for this "scientific theory". I do not have this proof or equations therefore they are just hunches a.k.a. theories :)

flatop59 5 months ago
@zaph1987 with a applied methods from scientific laws until they become theories. Atheism is not an inability to make up one's mind. Neither is Agnosticism. Fundamentally, both are a response to positive claims. Theists make a positive claim for the existence of a deity or deities. The Atheist and even the Agnostic rejects the claim because it has not met a burden of proof. Only when the response takes on a ngostic tone can one attempt a positive claim, again burden of proof.
jdale1 5 months ago
@jdale1 Ok well where is the burden of proof on atheists and scientists, they claim to have a theory with no certain proof, so they are just in the same boat as theists. And i do not claim certainty of god, i am open to the idea of being wrong, if you were to show me proof beyond a doubt that there is no god and we came from a big explosion, then ok i would believe you....until then i choose to believe what i believe just like you choose to believe what you do, nothing wrong with either :)
zaph1987 5 months ago
@zaph1987 Although the Big Bang is not a theory yet, it is the most plausible explanation that science can attempt to answer. Because of the knowledge we currently posses, it is widely accepted as the best likely scenario for the creation of the universe in the scientific community. The scientific theories of gravity, relativity, evolution etc. all began with applied

@itsallepidemicrodney There's no magic involved and i couldn't help but giggle at the manner set up a straw-man out of the bible. You obviously have poor interpretational skills in terms of hermeneutics. I bet you believe some random explosion in space is responsible for humans, animals, fish, water, the four seasons, and the correct distance from the sun to prevent us from either freezing to death if we were one planet away, or burning to death if we were one planet closer to the sun.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 If Earth wasn't in the habitable zone, we wouldn't have evolved here. Or at all.
Except that it was. And we did. Get over it.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Get over what? My point is that the conditions on earth were optimized for sustainable life. You want me to accept that "it just happened", right?
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 The Earth was not optimized with us in mind, we evolved according to the conditions of the Earth.
If the Earth was incapable of sustaining anything resembling life (as we know it), there wouldn't be life (as we know it) here.
There are other habitable planets out there. Humans, or something similar to one, probably would not have evolved there due to different conditions, but life still would.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Maybe there are other habitable planets but let's focus on our planet for now. I believe everything happened because a greater power designed it that way, but you believe it just evolved by chance. You believe the bible is a work of fiction, but the fact remains that the bible's prophecies have mostly been fulfilled. It prophesied not being able to buy or sell unless you have a mark and we have micro-chips that will soon store all of our information, credit, everything.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 Prophecies that are either ridiculously vague (like the one you just said) and can be easily interpreted to fit numerous things, or self-fulfilling prophecies, like the one that the Jews will return to Israel (it said they would, and so they made it happen, BECAUSE it said they would)
Also, the Earth is not exactly a well-designed environment for life, particularly not human life. Pretty terrible designer if it was made for us.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Vague? How is something prophesied 2,000 years ago and being fulfilled in present time "vague". Is that what you think of the evidence if provide you with? Why waste my time debating with someone who considers facts as "vague". I know that you know there is a God, but you're just too damn rebellious to admit it. Maybe someone you loved or cared for died unnaturally and you asked yourself "where was God", i bet. If you don't like facts then i am wasting my time with you.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 It's vague because that can be interpreted for a bunch of things. I could interpret that "prophecy" as meaning someone needed a tattoo, a badge, a license, or pretty much anything else that restricts who can buy or sell things.
Also, once you pull out the moronic "you know there's a god you just deny it" you prove you're an idiot with nothing left to say. Just so you know.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Yes, except it states that in those days there will be a "one world order" and that is definitely the direction we're heading in. When you're done watching atheist videos, google "biblical prophecies fulfilled" and read the list of fulfilled prophecies and the list is growing more each day. I bet facts like these would be considered as "vague" to an idiot like you. The evidence speaks for itself. Whether you like it or not, you can't disprove facts or evidence. Bye child
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 How many biblical prophecies actually have a failure condition? Meaning there's something that could happen that makes the prophecy outright wrong? Like, for instance, a time limit on when it has to happen by?
The only one I'm aware of that had that is that Jesus said he would come back before the end of the generation. Oops.
And condescension definitely makes people want to listen to you, no doubt about it.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Where does it state in the bible that Jesus would return before the end of that generation? I must have missed it! The book of Revelations speaks of the false prophet who will deceive many in to worshipping the beast and no one fits that role better than the pope himself. Listen, the prophecies are being fulfilled. Soon all arab nations will unite against Israel (like the bible predicted). You think those middle east riots and government overthrows are just coincidence?
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 Mark 13:30, after describing the end times throughout Mark 13.
"Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done." (KJV)
And, to more specifically link his return as happening before that, Mark 13:26: "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory."
So, a specific end date passed without the prophecy being fulfilled means the prophecy is a complete failure.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun Ahh! That passage! Ok. Did you read the whole context of that passage you just quoted? The context clearly identifies the generation who sees the prophecies of which he spoke fulfilled, not his current generation. Those who see the signs of the end times are the generation of which christ refers to. The reason so many false biblical teachings emerge is because of failure to read the bible in context, not just one text by itself. Does that makes more sense, sir?
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 Reading the entirety of Mark 13, he begins talking about the people in front of him, and never transitions to talking about any future generation, which would mean he's talking about the current one.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun No. At the inception of this chapter, his disciples clearly asked him: "what shall be the signs of the end"? Then he went on to say that there will be earthquakes in divers places around the world (that is being fulfilled), stars fall from the sky, (possibly meteors/comets) and these shall be signs of the end. Then he said "this" generation (which sees the fulfillment of these prophecies), not the current one shall not pass away. I am sorry but the context is very clear.
jabe55 5 months ago

No criteria for failure.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun That's not the problem. The problem is that no one reads the context of the text they are reading in to and the prophecies haven't failed so far. Jesus was known for speaking in parables to the scribes and pharisees who were equivalent to modern day jesuits who profess God but deny him with their works. The bible specifically speaks about one world order and how people will be micro-chipped like slaves on their right hands or foreheads. And this technology exists today.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 How about an example then: I predict that the USA will never fall.
This "prophecy" has only 1 failure condition: the USA falling.
Otherwise, it holds true. This means, that for as long as the USA stands, I can claim I was right, and, under your criteria, it means I'm divine.
By your criteria, I mean one of the prophecies is that the Jews will never die off.
So they'll never die off. Unless they do.
Oh, and "mark" doesn't even come close to microchip.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun The passage referring to the micro-chip is in the book of revelations, not mark. Not by "my" criteria, but by the bible's own criteria God's claims have come to pass and prove the divinity of himself and his words (which have been fulfilled thus far). My own criteria means nothing if it doesn't stand in the light of facts. Clams and oyster shells have been found at mt. everest which testifies to the biblical flood of noah's time. These are the facts, not my own criteria.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 I wasn't talking about Mark, I was assuming that you were talking about the "mark" you were referring to earlier.
Clams and oyster shells on Everest are testaments to crustal uplifting, not a flood.
Thing is, a prediction doesn't have any predictive power if there's nothing that can happen that would prove it wrong. The goalposts can always be pushed back with "it is gonna happen later". The very vast majority of the predictions in the bible are this way, and are thus worthless.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@jabe55 And, of course, the predictions are often extremely vague in wording, like your prediction of a "mark" needed to buy/sell things.
If he had said, for instance, "a piece of metal will be stuck in a person's hand that allows others to view the person's personal information" or something along those lines, along with an approximate timeframe for that happening, that would actually be impressive and have meaning.
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@gimmethegepgun The timing is not as important as the message itself. I just provided you with examples of how the bible's accounts have been validated with history and current events and yet you still find ways to distort the prophecies messages when they are clear in what is going to happen. I can't force you to believe me. You have the freedom to be an atheist. I won't spend all day clarifying the facts for you, buddy. I have things to do. If you want the proof, then it is there.
jabe55 5 months ago
@jabe55 Without timing, any prediction is void of value. Without details, the same.
Consider: If I had predicted that the Twin Towers would be attacked by several hijacked planes, but did not say when, would that be useful? People probably wouldn't even believe me if I couldn't give a timeframe, and aside from raising security measures, would not have been useful.
If I had predicted a major terrorist attack on 9/11/01, but not said where, that would also be pretty useless. cont...
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@jabe55 ...cont. If that was all I said, that wouldn't even place it in a country, let alone NYC, and it gives no information as to the nature of the attack. It would similarly be useless and no one would believe me. This, however, has a higher level of specificity in the prediction (beyond the date) than most biblical predictions, and if I had said that months before it happened, people would have reason to believe me in the future when I said something, since the date was correct. cont...
gimmethegepgun 5 months ago
@jabe55 However, if future predictions were of similar substance, they would still be useless since it doesn't give even close to enough information to be usable.
This is why predictions need specifics as to events and need decent timeframes. Which nearly everything in the bible lacks one or the other, often both.
That is why those "prophecies" are worthless.

It certainly isn't what you describe.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney ya, my comment about the big bang is a joke lol, im just saying it doesnt sound any more illogical than a god does, and for you to say your mind is completely made up until there is proof showing you are wrong leads to show that your mind is not completely made up. I do not claim my mind is completely made up for there is no proof to any of these claims, I just believe what I choose to believe, just like the other 8 billion people on this planet :)
zaph1987 5 months ago
@zaph1987 I might say that my mind is made up that dragons do not exist. That doesn't mean that if one appeared one day, breathing fire and making a nuisance of itself, that I'd deny its existence. That's not how rational intelligence works. But until I see compelling evidence that dragons exist - more compelling than the evidence that they do not - it's perfectly logical for me to say my mind is made up; dragons do not exist. Exactly the same goes for gods.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney Yes it is logical to say your mind is made up I do not disagree, but to say it is completely made up implies that no matter what happens that is what you will believe. For instance, my mind is completely made up that I am a guy, meaning no matter what happens I will always believe and know that I am a guy because I have a penis...for if something is to be complete it is without anything missing (information, evidence, etc.)

Get real, toolbag.
