  • Why don't they just make a bigger airport somewhere else?

  • @tommybass40 There is another runway in Soto Cano US Military base in Comayagua. There was a plan to built civilian terminal there after TACA plain crashed in Toncontin in 2008 but then it was cancelled.

The problem is you need to go over a mounatin ridge to go there from Tegucigalpa and the road is very narrow and unsafe. there would be more people dead from car accidents on the way to/from the airport. :) And build the new higway would be very expansive.

  • This is nothing, I have landed in that airport at around 9pm and those pilots are still able to land those airplanes in the dark, when you touch the ground you feel like you've just reached heaven. I can only applaud the pilots who dare to touch Toncontin in night time.

  • now that's what you call an interesting approach

  • nice approach

but Kai Tak's was more insane

  • Amazing!!

  • 2nd most extreme airport in the world!

  • nice landing, short runway hard touchdown at the beginning !

  • positive touchdown!

  • i believe that my country has change a lot after the hurricane i haven't been there for 14 years now sometimes i want to go there and visit my family but at the same time i feel a little bit scare with all the stuff that they said about..... but Honduras es lindo .... no hay nada como la tierra de uno!!

  • I went to honduras in 2003 for a seminar, when I arrived there my thoughts were not of a happy person, the first impression of the airport made matter worst for me, but believe me that when I left a week later my heart stayed behind with the nice hondura's people.. very nice people and after all a nice country.

  • I spent there about half a year in total. Good counrty, nice people.

But Honduras has one of the highest homicide rate in the world so you must be careful and watch your back. Actually you must just be reasonable and do not go to some particular areas (especially after dark). ;)

  • what you mean?! it´s not reasonable in any place do that ¬¬

there´s no such thing like 100% safe city (especiallly after dark)

  • Do what? Clarify please.

There are safe cities and not safe cities. Just compare Montreal and Baltimore.

And regarding Honduras I can say that once one of my colleagues had been robbed right in front of the president palace, with all these police and sequrity around, in the middle of the day (a boy grabbed his cell phone and runaway on the bike).

And in San Pedro Sula I witnessed a situation when at 11pm a man walked to the gas station for help. He was without pants and covered with blood.

  • let´s refresh...you said night and particular places, for me any city in the world have that, u never said anything about guards and army try walk in the bronx with your brand new iphone and you´ll see. france, spain, russia and especially my city my theory is," lots of people lots of shit "

people = shit.. i live in the 4th biggest city in the world and, man! i can´t even watch the news anymore theres no such thing as a perfect city/country "you have he don´t he´ll take"

  • @milvus7migrans sadly its ture but not all

  • AWESOME! 5*

  • Honduras should build a new airport.. too scary for tourism.

  • One mistake and you have a problem....looks dangoures but cool at the same time....

  • mejor uso el bus......

  • jaaaaaaajajajajajajajaj te quedo buena!!!

  • Damn kids

  • I believe thats what you call a positive touchdown!

Brilliant airport, right up there with Kai Tak and St Maartens

  • and Samos (LGSM) ;o)

  • Yo ni de borma vuelo hay me da miedo

  • Bueno hard landing

  • too bad i live in tegucigalpa flights are very scary

  • lol..

skip to 1:01 Some person says "We're in another country, my cell phone doesn't work." I know it isn't extravagantly funny, but hey, she said it.

  • ahahahaha XD lmao

  • awsome! I love this airport, to bad its going to be closed soon.

  • Yep, I was in Tegu when those plane crashed. My flight was cheduled for the next day and as result had to rush to San Pedro Sula.

  • It is going to be closed? And, what airport will replace it?

  • They wanna use the runway on US airbase in Comayagua, but for me is a bit far from the city and the road is not adapted for possible high traffic from Tegu to the new airport and back.

  • nunca lo van a cerrar en comayaqua n estan haciendo nada y ni van a hacer solo es la bulla

  • cmon man! it even states "America Airlines" on his tags! right off the back you can so distinguish that its a 75

  • It is an AA , the engine cowling and pylon are different colors , thats just it, Take a look at their 757 pictures and notice it. Love landing at TGU.

  • is that really an American Airlines plane? it doesn't look like it. as far as i know, they don't have white planes... apart from that, is a VERY cool video, the landing was very smooth, I love how the kids keep saying "WOW" hehe. I love this airport
