  • yes, this touched me a lot. I don't usually feel for imaginary characters, damn I don't usually feel for lot of real people! BUT this... you can rly feel Nate's pain. Great scene.

  • Forget all those over the top Hollywood movies. This is the most sincere and saddest scene I have ever seen.

  • I still can't believe Peter Krause never got an actual Emmy for his role as Nate.. So robbed.

  • This scene shattered my heart.

  • Can't stop watching this... He breaks my heart... I'm seriously crying right now.

  • One of my favorite scenes in SFU, god I love Nate and I was crying when I saw this scene. Peter Krause is such an amazing actor

  • propably the best scene of the show, and this was the best show ever, if i recall correctly i cried the first time i saw it and it still gives me the chills every time

making me cry or giving me the chills is a hard task all on it's own so it makes me value this show even more

  • Awesome scene.

  • Gives me chills every time. Already loved the show before this episode, but this scene made SFU my all-time favorite.

  • amazing scene.. anyone knows the name of this track playing?

  • I can´t believe that it took so long to show characters on a TV show screaming like animals, when somebody has died.

If you watch and understand the whole series you are prepared for life.

This was the best written show I have ever seen, a masterpiece!

    Amen;)

  • This is really strong scene... Nate's terrifying scream make me cry

  • I love this series and this was for sure the HARDEST moment for me to watch :,,(

    Amazing Peter´s interpretation!

  • SFU had alot of heartfelt moments. This one completely broke my heart and can still bring me to tears.

  • It takes a lot to do that....Nate loved Lisa

  • Sorry for my bad english cause I'm belgian, but i want say I cant stop crying when i watch this. And I'm still crying now cause i'm sad,so sad.what the hell happenned to our world, what happened to humanity?

  • Best scene of the entire series.

  • @wowbobwow37 OK!

  • Anyone know of a show that has the meaningful characters. I really enjoyed watching it, I learnt alot about life, regret, and even learned alot of English from it. Part of me dies when I realise I am don't appreciating what I have, I'm wasting away my youth on things I have no passion for. Maybe we can never be fully satisfied until we know what we want.

  • i love so much this scene!!!=´(

  • T_T

  • This is probably the best performance ever from an actor!

And I have already seen a lot....

  • I watched SFU when it first aired on HBO. This scene actually made me realize that I also want a green burial when I die. It just makes so much sense to me to go back to where you started-from the earth back to the earth. Without anything in between. Like chemicals or a steel box or burning me in a fire. I wonder how many other people realized like me that green burial was a true option after watching this scene?

  • hence why he is so popular today in so many shows out of this great show he is the most wanted actor!

  • 1:09 to 1:16 & 1:50 to end

    it`s make me cry

    it`s storm from sadly feeling

  • I cry every time I watch this scene. I sounds so... heart breaking. I can relate to this.

  • She's Dead! Wrapped in plastic.... opps wrong show, that was Twin Peaks!

  • Just another example that Peter Krause gave one of the best television performances ever.

  • @theliarintheglass most def... the guy's a beast.

  • pulling that plastic off revealing a dead carcass of your wife would probably haunt your dreams forever

  • What a shame that this has never been released as an entire soundtrack...

The song in the background is called "Burying Lisa" (by Richard Marvin) and one of the very few pieces of music being available: richardmarvin net

  • @102432011 Thanks! The music always brings me back.

  • Watched this again a few days ago, so profound and heartbreaking, could have gone either way (and been the work/fakest moment) but it was probably the most real. Good job Peter. Miss this show.

  • all the busses in LA said lisa fisher dead

  • Amazing programme. I always felt that Nate was never ever fully happy with his life no matter what. Maya made it so much better but it just wasn't enough for him. Such a powerful scene.

  • The series is filled with magical moments that touch anyone with a heart. The pilot episode set the foundation for this unique work, but it is here where the series separates itself from all other endeavors. From this point onwards, most viewers will never forget the experience.

  • Does anybody know what the song on this scene is called?

  • Oh man... talk about having a bad day. You could easily put that down as #1 under the "shittiest days of my life" category. I don't think I'd be able to bury my dead spouse like that. No way. I'd be ruined after that and probably wouldn't be able to feel joy ever again.

  • This scene will haunt me for the rest of my life

  • Can you imagine the HORROR of seeing what the ocean water did to his wife's body? Oh man this scene killed me, it f'ing killed me...

  • see i made the mistake of seeing this first by accident, and although it seemed sad, it didn't have much effect.

I've just now seen the episode in full, and when it got to this bit i was in absolute pieces and blubbering. The showing of Lisa's remains at the beginning of the episode anchored this so heavily and was needed to show just how horrific the whole ordeal is.

    Amazing show, nothing comes close.

  • well written show

  • This is one of the saddest scenes of any show, movie, anything.

I kind of always thought that doing that for Lisa - burying her the way she would have wanted - was his way of trying to finally do "right" by her. It is soooo realistic and horrible and sad but he did what someone who truly loved her would have done.

Best show ever. I still miss it.

  • i look at this scene and i think this is where the show just goes over the falls. it was a great show up to this point but after it you're just sucked under until the end. you're just tumbling in chaos like everyone in the show. i've never had a t.v. show do that to me.

  • Really powerfull scane from the best televison show ever.

  • Peter Krause is such an amazing actor.

  • This scene has shocking me

    That was very sad :(

  • this was quite possibly the heaviest moment in television history.

  • one of the most touching scenes i have ever seen =''(

  • never cried for more than 10 years man... almost got it when watching this scene.. awesome...

  • That someone would love me enough to bury me this way...

I wept when I first saw this and it still brings me to tears & breaks my heart every time. Such palpable pain... Just another amazing scene in a long list of amazing SFU scenes. This show is so special. It makes u face your own mortality and realize the frailty of life. SFU is fictional magic.

  • Is that the same location where Nate's funeral took place at the end of the series?

  • @jmoon219 No it wasn't. However, the manner in which she is buried plays a vital role in Nate's own decision on how he's buried. Before her death, Lisa confided to Nate that after she died, she didn't want to be cremated like her family wanted her to be.

  • @jmoon219 Likewise, Nate was always turned off by the whole funereal process in which bodies were prepared, hence his decision for a green funeral. However, because his own philosophy came at odds with his in-laws, he had to bury Lisa secretly. I think if circumstances allowed, Nate would have preferred giving Lisa the burial that he later recieved.

  • Probably my favourite scene from this fantastic show.

  • This scene is really sad , because she died when she gave another oporunity to her marriage

  • One of the best scenes on television from the greatest show of all time :( very sad, powerful, angry, and empty. Allan Ball created this masterpiece.

  • the scream rips my heart apart.

  • This scene is simply a masterpiece.

  • I watched this episode last night. I'm not ashamed to admit that I bawled my eyes out.

  • this scene makes me feel so EMPTY

  • sooooo sad

  • does anyone know the episode he finds her killer?

  • I don't think we find her killer. We know her brother in law took her picture the day she died, but Im not sure if we find out anything more than that.

  • brother in law killed her, then commits suicide later

  • Season 4 episode 12...

You really never know whats happens to her, but there are hints....

  • I saw nightmares of this. so sad :(

  • holy shit that's so powerful

  • this is just such a strong and emotional moment... when he screams his guts out in the end, i just couldn't stop crying...

  • First green burial to be shown on TV. Please consider this option! Hudson Valley Green Burial Association

  • I really love this show. Wacthed season 1 2 3, now I'll enjoy the last ones. This scene is so powerful and at the same time simple, I'll miss Lisa

  • One of the best episodes EVER. Peter Karuse is incredibly talented. What a scene!!!

  • very impressive..

  • very powerful. the first scene in the series that made me weap :(

  • one of the best scenes of the series, so fucking powerful

  • Lisa was really beautiful (lili taylor) I wazz sad that she had died i actually thought she is way more prettier than brenda (rachael griffiths). But she was really messed up for doing what she had done in that ep her body was a wreck it was omg so awful and how beautiful she was that was so sad maya is so cute too.

  • The screaming at the end could have been really cheesy and forced, but Peter Krause makes it feel so real. Gotta love that guy. Amazing actor.

  • @manicfoot

    You bet!

When i realised I had already watched this scene for at least 10 times. I just couldn´t believe there could be such an amazing acting in a series.

Six feet Under... THE BEST SERIES EVER!!!!

  • @manicfoot so true!!! :)

  • @manicfoot agreed. best of the best

  • best episode.

  • Six Feet Under was the shit.cupid4040

  • Nate's never the same after this. He never gets over the guilt of not fully loving Lisa, and wishing he could get out. What a powerful scene

  • lisa was annoying and needy. she should have accepted nate didnt want her, and what kind of person fucks their own sister's husband

  • 'what kind of person fucks their own sister's husband?'

probably the same kind of person that fucks their step-sister while their wife is pregnant. Nate was just as needy and annoying as lisa. That's the beauty and tragedy of it all. They both had to grief the collapse of their ideals, to face the reality that they weren't going to achieve the 'happy family' image society burdened them with. That's tough to deal with.

  • This scene summarizes the brilliance and sadness of this show.

God, I cried. I watched it online with crappy quality and I never liked Lisa. But I cried my eyes out.

  • I agree with you on this. Brilliant. Sad. and Brilliant ....

  • oh god I remember watching this for the first time on television. I never knew I could cry so hard.

  • Powerful. Sad. Real.

I love this scene, Peter Krause was brilliant in this show.

  • The wierd thing is he auditioned for DAVIDS character.

  • woah, weird indeed!

  • @UltimoLatino I'm glad he got Nate's character. He just seems so well suited to it. Michael C. Hall is great as David.

  • Probably the most powerful scene in the history of tv. i can se it over and over again and it almost makes me sob every time. at least it did the first time. too bad this scene didn't conclude season 3. i cant understand why they dragged the story into season 4. i really mean the end of lisa should have closed season 3 - a fantastic season. season 4 isn't all that, the best with season 4 is arthur.

but what a scene this is. the nate - lisa dynamic was, and still is, so fascinating.

  • I think Series finale ending was more powerful, but this was definitely runner up in my eyes.

  • this episode, this scene especially, affected me so bad, made me cry so hard.

  • holy shit.

  • What do you mean!

  • I mean this scene is so profound to the series! I even read once in an interview with Peter Krause - "the episode where Nate buries Lisa is my favorite." and then he talks about how proud he is of the crew and he was able to capture the scene.

  • Season 4 was good, but there were far better seasons to the series.

  • I don't think I've seen any scene from tv or a movie as powerfully emotional. I gotta go watch some family guy or something.

  • Fucking shit I have shiver.

  • This was easily the best scene of season 4. I found season 4 to be rather weak in alot of spots..

  • quite possibly the msot brilliant scene ever filmed

  • WOW! i like this scene so much!

One of the best scenes of the show!

  • Every time I see this scene...

  • why isnt Lisa ever seen as 'her dead self' as others have in the show??

  • She appears at Brenda and Nate's wedding as 'her dead self'. There are more instances I can't think of at the moment.

  • When Nate is about to divre his car in the canyon, at the end of season 3.

  • Yes you're right.

  • one of the only times i've ever seen my dad cry is when we watched this episode together when it first aired on hbo.... haunting... sometimes i will randomly think of this ending scene in my head and get a lump in my throat.

  • this is the greatest show ever hands down its so brilliant

  • One of the best scenes ever. However, THE best scene---hands down---has got to be the one where David and Ruth are cleaning his body after he has passed and Ruth keeps asking David to tell her why more couldn't be done. I love the reaction he gives, and in return, the one she gives him. Best scene ever!!!! Someone should post that one. If you know where it is, please let me know.

  • i just post it ;) enjoy!

  • i am not a big fan of many tv shows, but i can honestly say that six feet under has always stole my heart. it's so powerful and moving. i get chills watching this too because nate is such a loving man and he absolutely adored lisa.

  • does anybody have the URL of the scene where Nate is running an empty road... behind there's a bus which later reach him... since that episode i couldn't see the serie... please... or who could tell me what happened...

  • I cry every time I see this scene! Nate Fisher is my all time favorite character from tv/movies. Such a deep person.

  • The other day, I turned on the t.v. and six feet under was on. My face lit up like I was seeing my good friend for the first time in a year, and I said aloud, "OH, HI!" Am I insane? No. that just says so much about these characters. They are family to us now. We feel their pain. P.S. I'm not meatpuppet, thats my koo-koo husband.

  • same here.

They are my family - exactly.

  • una de las escenas mas conmovedoras de la serie

    :.(

  • I miss them :'(

  • Amazing scene from one of the very best episodes.

I don't understand why they didn't use this as the season 3 finale though.

  • one of the most emotionally charged scenes ever in TV history. One sees this scene and sees the broken heart and soul of a man who lost his wife. Peter, you were robbed of an Emmy. Great job. God bless

  • Gives me the chils...

  • My favourite scene, definitely... I have runned the whole show for 3 times, and the end of the 3rd/ beginning of the 4th season is just TERRRIFIC!!! In a sense, I wish I never watched this show...

  • *Tear* for Nate and Lisa.

  • Probably one my favorite scenes.

  • this whole show is so gut wrenchingly good :( i just finished the finale and i am just at a loss words to describe it but i know there was a whole of crying involved. and i'm a 26 year old man who never cries !

  • thats so sad i cried

  • I've always wanted to draw some sort of representation of this scene as a fanart of Six Feet Under, but somehow it never turns out right. This is the sort of perfect scene where it only works on one medium - a camera. I cry everytime I watch this, no matter how many times I watch it.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I cried like hell when this happened on the show.

  • i agree with you on that one, prophyle. it really irks me he didnt win A THING. it pisses me off.

  • Just one thing that comes to mind: the fact that Peter Krause didn't win an Emmy for this season is a travesty.

  • so true. Although the cast won 2 SAGS, and Rachel and Frances got GGs, this show never got the acclaim it deserved. Especially Peter.

  • Although he was filled with guilt for not loving her as he wanted to.. it's still a very touching and sad scene.. specially when he screams, it gets me everytime

  • Saddest scene that could ever be created. Thank you for psting this

  • This clip makes me cry each time I watch it...so beautiful.

  • So we have the same sensation. Jesus.. i've seen this scene 5 times and i cry the same way!!
