Technically the square brick of LEDs on the back need to be flashing. There are iLEDs or Infrared Light Emitting Diodes on the back of all F1 racers. Assuming that this is trying to be realistic, video cameras can pick up on the infrared spectrum of light and that would mean, once again assuming that this is supposed to be realistic, that the back ends of the racers would be blinking, quite fast, red.
