  • I saw him last night in Indiana and although he is getting up in age (77) he looks great, Never knew he can be really funny. He has that perfect comedic pause and a quick comeback

  • L7

  • Little Richard did it better xD but he good too

  • Pat had some real talent in the day. I highly disagree with this hardcore, right-wing politics, but I do admire his ability to stay active late in life.

  • Elvis, Fats Domino and Little Richard eat your hearts out!!!!! Only Joking. Pat is genuinely a nice guy.

  • L o v e y o u , P a t !!

    Guys, he is great indeed.

    Wop-bop-aloo-bop-alop-bam-BOONE!!!

  • Pat boone COVER artist,

  • Funny thing to me that when Pat boone sang tooty fruiti....and made money from it in the 50s....he didnt know what the song was about. Neither did all the stuff shirt hypcrites that are as lilly white and live in ivory towers, didnt relize the song was about anal sex.

Well, he didnt sing it for a while.'

But thats what it is about...to let you all know.

  • @bronco3250 That you Captain Rectum, I will remember that.

  • They sounded differant because Elvis was A God.

  • I remember some fantastic medley sung by David Bowie and Cher. It had to be 1974 or 75...

  • Well, no one had a voice like young Bing Crosby, so it's an unfair comparison. Pat is pretty good, Bing was a GOD.

  • Well, someone didn't get the word to Pat that medleys went out in the 70's. This kind of stuff has fed Saturday Night Live skits for the past 20 years-

  • I still like medleys. They're like musical samplers. Real medleys should just flow from one into another. These are just brief samples.

  • when i little the thought the "old olk tree" was "old old tree"

  • Am I the only person who doesn't get Pat Boone's appeal. Of course, his All-american boyish good looks attracted the girls, and we all know Elvis once was Pat's warm-up act, but compared to other great singers like Elvis, Bing, Perry Como, Andy Williams, and others, Pat's voice just NOT THAT GOOD!

  • To each his own. I don't get Prince and Bono, but lots of people do.

  • Like you, I do not think that Pat is good at all.

I do not know a lot about Pat Boone, did he always use other peoples songs, or did he ever come up with anything original?

  • Dear RC,

Pat had a big number of his own hits: Love Letters in the Sand, When I lost my Baby, There's a Gold Mine in the Sky, April Love, Bernadine, Speedy Gonzales, Friendly Persuasion and others. None of these was a cover version at the time of it's release, although some may have been earlier recorded.

  • You are confused! If its recorded earlier and you do it later, that's a cover.

Love Letters is a cover of the 1931 Ted Black Orch. version

Gold Mine in the Sky is a Gene Autry song of the early 50s

When I Lost My Baby, I Almost Lost My Mind, as he admits taken from Ivory Joe Hunter

All Pat Boone covers are terrible by comparison today, but necessary to get Rock 'n Roll into the mainstream.

Pat's pained version of his original song Moody River is a classic however.
