I've never realized it before, but this song is pretty similar to Chopin's The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I: No. 2. It's no wonder that nostalgia hit me hearing the piano classic on the radio.
No it is Southern Shrine piano. If you listen to the original face and southern shrine songs you will notice how the face shrine excludes the high pitched flute part of southern shrine, but it makes the other part of the song much more rich. The last segment of this song is a basic version of the first segment, therefore it is the southern shrine piano part.
After listening to the original southern shrine, I can see your point. However, the possibility also exist that 3:12-4:07 is just a lower pitch Face Shrine designed to end the song. Pretty impressive catching that one and you maybe right, but I'll RadioZonde solve this one.
Of all the remixes I have listened to this is the most accurate reproduction I've heard yet, including the eerie way the piano gets louder and quieter at certain parts of the tune. One of my favourite pieces of videogame music :P Great job guys!
Maybe it was because it was handheld, but few games drew me in like Link's Awakening. It was just so mysterious and melancholy at the same time. I can't even describe it...
@TheBlackSMA Hm... Actually I got one idea, your quest could be to transform Marin back into a human by doing something (not sure what, maybe you have to find the Windfish or whatever). But that's it. By taking the original ending as a base for a sequel they would have much more possibilities.
But if you take a look at it from the realistic point of view... there's a very small chance that there will be ever a remake of this game or even a sequel. It's just an underrated game (sadly). :(
@SlyGamer1000 True. It is unappreciated and Nintendo has never been one to remake LoZ games (Mario on the other hand...). It would be cool but it is very unlikely. As for the Windfish, more like finding some special giant fairy thing that is divided into several pieces across the oceans
@TheBlackSMA Reminds me of the fairy "sidequests" in the dungeons in Majora's Mask. I wish Nintendo wouldn't force fans to stop their work on their own Zelda games, otherwise I'd just make my own sequel or remake of this game, I have all assets and the knowledge to do that (at least in U.E.). I mean, why are they so afraid if someone would do that to an "unknown" Zelda title? There was some kind of real 3D remake by a fan but it got cancelled because Nintendo didn't like that....
Hm.. I read some where that Miyamoto stated that this was his favorite Zelda game as well... LA fans should spam his mail adress, does anybody know it? lol
After all they're remaking OoT because fans said it was just too awesome and the best one of the series and that it needed a remake so if all/most of the LA fans would do the same and put pressure on them... goodness knows.
I can't decide between favorite parts. I like how it plays the part from "Southern Shrine" and I love the Piano solo in the end. Altogether, I love the whole thing.
Best dungeon theme ever made in The Legend Of Zelda. It portrays the sadness, mysteria and confusion I felt after realizing that Koholint was nothing but a dream.
Yes, the group is still around (surprisingly lol). We haven't been using this channel lately due to a little mishap (missing director, found director, personal schedules etc.) So while I can say for sure that we will be back, I can't say when this will happen. It was pretty hard starting out.
PS: A good reason why it needs a remake is this one:
When I told my friends how cool this game is they asked for which console it is. I answered: "For the GameBoy" They said: "How can something with such grafics be an awesome game?"
Young people nowadays are used to see good grafics and they don't care about the story. They don't even try games like that out "because it's on the GameBoy"...
I gotta say, this was a really well done cover. If there was a 3D remake of Link's Awakening, I could actually imagine this version of the song being used in the Face Shrine dungeon. Good work.
@SlyGamer1000 A lot of games in Nintendo's pocket could use a remake (and not just freaking super mario because that is all I am seeing) I would enjoy seeing a transition from Gameboy to Wii with 3-D render graphics (essentially similar to the Orcarina of Time or Twilight Princess). I also wanted to see some more Mother games but that is a idea for another time I suppose (this is indeed a LoZ page of course!)
@TheBlackSMA So true. Hm.. It always looked like LA was a direct (okay maybe not as direct and obvious as OoT & MM) sequel to ALttP so if they'd remake it then they'd need to remake ALttP first. I agree with OoT or TP graphics. But I also think if they'd do this they should try to stick to the original style what concerns the characters (see concept art, not the "real life" concept art but the manga-style/cartoon concepts).
This remake of the Face Shrine soundtrack should be used in a remake. ;)
@SlyGamer1000 Agreed. The more cartoon/manga concept would be much better than the "real" life concept. Indeed, ALttP remake would be just as awesome as this game's remake as it is pretty obvious that this was a sequel to LttP (just defeated Ganon, traveling from Hyrule to some other place etc). Actually, I remember something being said about an island like this actually physically existing and the dream was created from the islands image that (I suppose) the Wind fish visited
@TheBlackSMA IIrc in the manual you could read that after Link defeated Ganon he traveled around the world to gain some skill and on his way back to Hyrule this storm destroyed his ship and he was stranded. This game could also need a sequel. When the game ended I always wanted to know if he reached Hyrule. After all he didn't have a ship anymore :/
@TheBlackSMA Correcting myself (because I think I was not clear): To be honest, then I'd prefer the original secret ending as the beginning of the sequel.
This is a cross between the music played in the Southern Shrine (where you get the key to the Face Shrine) and the Face Shrine proper. Both tracks are in both versions of LA and both share similarities to each other.
Screw you guys! It would be awesome to have an updated version of this game! And I bet all you would play it too! And if not,, at least your children would..

Im not always a fan of alot of the remakes that come out, but Im kinda thinking that this game should be remade. Perhaps in a 3d version for PS3. Not only that but include the remake of the soundtracks in the game, like the song in this video. (very well done by the way). This game was my all time favorite, It just had so much feeling and emotion to it.
I have never played a game which was so emotional.
It needs a 3D remake, but on a NINTENDO console! I really thought of making a remake of this game on my own lol That sounds stupid, I know. But in theory I have everything I need.
Does the group still exist? I want to listen to more remixes like the Windfish egg, the Ballad of the Windfish, the forest of mystery (are the names correct? Am from Germany and don't know the English names) and more!
the group is on hiatus for a while, but we will upload more in either october or november. really depends on if we get a few things done and done first.
I am glad you enjoyed it :) lol I seriously need to get around to post up the rest of the songs. We are a new group as they say the beginning is always the tough part.
yes I have to agree with you there is something about video game music that intoxicating. lol I remember playing this game on my super game boy on friday afternoons
This is really amazing. I always link to this when people start talking about LA. You guys rock.

@TheBlackSMA I hate the secret ending of the DX version :/ The original secret ending was 100,000x better. In the original it was like this:
She became some kind of angel, she got wings and when the "The End" screen showed up you could see her flying with a happy expression.
This game really needs a remake..
@ColinEmerald This comment is pure win! :D
Btw do you think in a remake there should be an option after you kill the nightmares which would be called "Don't wake up"? :]
