Just remember his power source is built-in (the arc heart) so all he needs is the armor plating and computer wiring, so the suit can be relatively lightweight and easy to fold/store.

I'm amazed how such a complex, rigid machine manages to fit in a suitcase.

Sure, we have similar devices in reality being developed, but it ain't THIS advanced. Notice how the armor manages to cover every portion of the body, while at the same time providing strength, flexibility, and protection!
